I agree. Stop eating crap and move around more - simple as.

Seems like the phrase "eat more to weigh less" is open to such wide interpretation that it really doesn't help anyone.
-
CLaire - give the waterworks a go. you;ll be surprised how much quicker you will go on the day. Your PB will be YOUR PB and that's all that matters.
-
Jessica - if you are new here then stick with the food diary. It will make a big difference and gets quite easy to complete once you have added all the regular meals. ird2010 - give the parkrun a go - set yourself a personal best and watch it fall.

THAT works for everyone

No good reason why you would/should gain weight as you get older. Mainly due to less activity and time. A few pounds a year doesnt seem like a lot but over 20 years its 3 stone. 140 seems high for someone your size. A stone less sounds about right.

I'd like to hear the answer to this too. I'm in the energy in/energy out camp - eat more than you need and you WILL put on weight - eat less than you need and you WILL lose weight. Some will talk about lean mass and starvation mode and metabolism ebla bla. "Eat more to lose weight" is pure bollocks

it appears to be getting better by itself. If it persists then seek advice - dont see why you would see a chiro over a PT tho.

how can you exceed your maximum heart rate?
-
By my math thats 24 litres a day! That's 24 kilograms of water! You must have a big cup! :) to answer the OP. in the developed world we have the luxury of access to water/fluids 24/7 so we can drink whenever. Unless you have a diagnosed medical condition that is sensitive to water levels in your body you just drink…

In order to really lose weight you need to stop eating more than you need. I would be very surprised if the amount of sleep you get has any great effect on the rate of weight loss.
-
Drink whenever you want to. Jeez!

Moderation in all things? Doing anything to an extreme level is likely to have some negative side effects. Outside top distance athletes very few people run 100 miles a week ( I think I heard Mo Farah say he does 120 mpw - but it doesnt take him very long!). You will strengthen bones, muscles ligaments tendons…

There's a rule of thumb that says that every pound lost will save you 2 seconds a mile - 6seconds on a 5k . A minute off your 5k if you lose 10lbs! Speed is not important at this stage of your running. Work on running longer rather than faster. Be patient, keep losing the weight and keep running and you will also get…

Normal to feel nauseous after pushing yourself to your absolute limit. Probably due to the fight or flight reaction where blood is redirected to other parts of your system. It should pass quickly though. Forget about speed for now - whoever told you to sprint is wrong. Run at a speed that allows you to run longer. Give…

Hurrah - some sense at last on here.

What other's are 'burning' isnt relevant to you. They will be bigger/smaller/older/younger have different goals and lifestyles etc. If you want to lose 40kg (on your ticker) then focussing on what you eat rather than what you burn will get you there quicker. Of course burning more cals will help too - but harder than just…

If you havent been a regular runner then finishing under the hour is decent enough. i dont know where you are with your training but shaving 5 mins off is normally a big ask. in a 10k that's arriving one K quicker than you did last time!

Chill - 3.5 a month is fine.

It all depends on the pedal on the spin cycle. If it's a flat platform with strap then standard shoes should do. Otherwise you will need pedal specific shoes - ask the spin teacher?? Strange to get sore feet from cycling tho.
-
are you doing a 10k or a marathon?
-
On the assumption that the OP is doing a flattish road bike ride it's not comparable to 75 mile off-road MTB event. Cycling 57 miles in 5/6 hours is a pretty leisurely pace. If you have eaten well then you will have about 2000 cals at your disposal. This would be enough for you run maybe 20 miles. So if you think your race…

yeah - if you have a proper pull you wont be running anywhere for a good few weeks. be patient with your rehab or you will be out for even longer.
-
Entering an event will help you get out and do the training - that's a good thing Getting anxious about whether you will complete it and then overtraining and increasing risk of injury - that's a bad thing. Keep the balance and you'll be fine.

Why not stick with walking hard?

Read your handbook or download one for your HRM. As far as I know the HRM strap does not transmit through water - so you will not get your HR while swimming. If the device is stated as waterproof then it should be ok unless you subject it to more water pressure than is indicated as safe - if it doesnt then bring it back to…
-
There are two thing the HRM needs to do .. measure your HR and estimate calories burned Measuring your HR - probably does this pretty well - senses the heart's electrical activity and time between and works out HR - simple enough Calculating calories burned - many factors, age, weight, ambient temp, fitness, form, HR - it…

What part of your ankle? How long have you been running? Where are you running? What's on your feet? Running through bad pain is a quick road to not running at all. See a physio and get problem diagnosed and sorted.
