  • So I've had some technical difficulties with my new HRM...but here are a few samples over the last few weeks: - P90x Yoga - time: 90 min. First hour sequence between warrior poses, downward dog, balances, etc. = 400-500 calories - Hot Yoga - traditional 27 poses - 300-350 calories The HRM has some issues when I'm doing the…
  • I do varied sessions during the week based on my schedule. I've been practicing for 3 months. I do the following: 1-2 led classes, heated and small group setting. P90x 1 and 2 Yoga DVDs and I have a mac software app called all-in Yoga. I sprinkle in specific pose practice at times before or after my weight/cardio workouts.…
  • I think it's probably higher..depends on your level of effort and HR during the session. I've done both Hot Yoga with the traditional 27 poses and a hot tapas class with focus on legs. I work pretty hard in both classes and feel my heart rate going. For upcoming class on Monday..I plan on wearing my HRM. I"ll post back…
  • I believe it depends on the type type of strength training, intervals on switching to the set/weight, and your heart rate during the workout. With P90x, strength days I burn lower calories, but more than what's calculated through the tool. I use a heart rate monitor and log what's in the watch.
  • I"m finishing up round 1 of P90X and have seen great results. Lost about 18lbs, dropped from a 34" pant size to 30" and have seen a difference in my body and athletic ability. Starting P90x 2 in two weeks. Needless to say, I'd recommend the program! Add me if you'd like.
  • In my experience..one's motivation has to stem from within. I find this site and friends encouraging, helpful, funny, and great sources of info..but I'll meet my goals and keep on my journey alone if needed. it's my health, body, and future that I'm trying to secure and change...and It's on "me" to make it happen. If your…
  • I've only taken 2 group classes..but here's what I appreciate: - balance of doing the poses (look at good form), and providing input on stance correction and/or encouraging you extend a little more or hold. - positive feedback on the pose when your doing it correctly or improving. - Providing options if the pose is…
  • I wear a Heart Rate Monitor when I do Yoga X (part of the P90x Program) and I burn similar calories to a cardio workout 90 min @ 650-800 calories. For regular Yoga practice I usually just go by what MFP has, since the workouts are typical 30-60 minutes and aren't as fast paced.
  • I've done day 3 and 4..and found them to be helpful in terms of instruction and right amount of time if your looking for 20-30 minute wakeup or Daily Yoga. Yesterday, the instructor used a belt to assist with the leg position and found that helpful and interesting. also, t-shirt works good as a belt substitute
  • I'm currently doing P90x, which is a 6 day workout. It has about 3 days with weights and 3 day cardio (1 of those YogaX) It's how I got started with Yoga. My goal is to practice Yoga 4-5 days a week and maintain the P90x program.
  • Guess it brings a new perspective on "Bring it!", for those folks doing P90X ; )

  • I have the same problem. If I move them in a bit..I can get on the floor, but impacts form. I've noticed that as I warm up, I get farther down. Otherwise, I'd be curious if there are other approaches.
  • And I thought I worked out late at 10:30 or 11pm. Workout at anytime is better than no workout. I notice that i sometimes have to go to sleep and skip a day if I have to late nights and early mornings.
  • From a practical perspective..how do you focus on the spiritual component while your doing the poses or flow? Do you clear your mind, focus on your body/breathing, or focus your mind on prayer or thinking of what you want to consider?
  • newbie guestion..but what is anusara?
  • Here's a link to workout schedule based on the type of schedule you'd like to start: http://www.p90xworkoutschedule.org/p90x-workout-schedule-pdf-phase-1/
  • I bought some Yoga DVDs at target that have instructions for the poses by Rodney Yee. I have the yoga app on my iPad and found the target DVDs helpful for getting instruction and tips from Rodney or his helpers.
  • Welcome Megan..you can do this! John
  • I'm 42 have been logging for about 2 months, dieting, and losing weight, so it's possible, just need to stay focused and take it one day at a time. Add me if you'd like.
  • Hello. I'm new to Yoga and I'm starting to explore it and integrate into my weekly routine. I'm taking my first beginner class this Friday and looking to take a weekly class and practice at home 3-4 days a week. I'm also doing P90x as my primary workout program. I'm new to Yoga terms and practice, but having fun doing…
  • I'm just starting Yoga and have limited flexibility, but enjoy it. Got interested from the workouts in P90X and bought some Target Yoga DVDs and used them over the break. I'm taking my first "group" class this week at my work gym and hope to take a "hot" yoga class next week. I have about 10-15lbs to lose and notice the…
  • Currently on round 1 of P90x. There's a Bring It! group that you can join if your looking for folks doing a Beach Body program. John
