  • I have been in maintenance for 2 years. I also have a +/- 5 lb. range. I do stay active, as someone earlier said. I haven't used an elevator or escalator in years. I still get at least 30 minutes of exercise everyday--mostly walking when the weather is nice, exercise videos in the winter. I still log and use MFP--I tried a…
  • SW: 215 CW: 164 GW: 158 I was looking forward to today's weigh in. But, I have a digital scale, stepped on it this morning, DEAD BATTERY!!! Well, now I have tomorrow morning to look forward to!

  • I have been maintaing for 16 months. I quit logging food and exercise after a full year of maintenance, but started back again after the holidays. I still exercise everyday for 30 minutes, including hand weights every other day. Some one earlier said maintaining is harder than losing, with which I agree! I weigh myself…
  • I don't weigh my bread either. I figure what the package says to be close enough for me. I weigh myself once a week, right after I get out of bed. I have been maintaining for over a year, and this has worked for me. My weight fluctuates by 3 lbs. When it is up, I reduce my calories a little until it is back down. I don't…
  • glad to see this topic and all the responses. I agree that what works for some might not work for others, but it helps to get an idea of where to start. I eat 1500-1600 and get 30 mins exercise every day.
  • well, for what its worth, here are my thoughts.... First of all, don't weigh yourself everyday. When I first started, I only weighed every 2 weeks! Don't obsess the number on a scale. I recommend you measure your body--chest, waist, hips, upper arms, thighs, etc...but only once a month. And if you are eating too few…
  • I have been maintaining for 14 months, and I still exercise everyday--30 minutes. I vary what I do because I am easily bored. Do you have a dvr? our local PBS station has a program on at 5:30 am called "Functional Fitness". I recorded the three versions--now I can do the workout on my schedule. Every other day, I dance…
  • Frozen chicken breast, can of cream of chicken soup, can of chicken broth Place in crock pot, cook on low 8 hours. Love it!
  • I lost my weight last year, but still got lots of positive comments from family about keeping the weight off. My sister in law hadn't seen me in 6 months. She said "nice work in maintaining the weight loss".
  • "Any-one got any ideas of a healthier good tasting replacement for the bacon? " try baking your regular bacon in the oven on a rack. I use a 11 x 16 baking pan, cover it with foil (aides in clean up), invert my grill rack, arrange bacon slices on the rack, and bake at 350 degrees. All the fat goes to the foil.
  • take your measurements--what you may not see on the scale might show up as inches lost! Keep up the hard work. You will get there!
  • These are all good responses!
  • I recommend trying different things. Any exercise is better than nothing. If you don't have a video game, just put some music on and DANCE around! Mow your yard with a push mower! Wipe down all the woodwork in your house! Its summertime--find a swimming pool and just move around in the water!
  • feel free to friend me!
  • Chocolate Cheerios! Just plain, no milk.
  • Chocolate Cheerios!!!! 3/4 c. = 100 cal. I use the flavored cheerios for my snack alot! Even better? Mix the chocolate Cheerios with the peanut butter Cheerios!
  • GREAT JOB!! You look fabulous!!! I am less than 30 days from my one year "MFP Anniversary". I am down 60 lbs. If I can figure out how, I will post pics in January!
  • 60 pounds in 11 months.
  • I don't have a "goal". I plan to keep eating healthy, controlling portions, and exercising regularly--letting my body decide when I am at THE weight I am supposed to be. I know this--I am happy with where I am now--and am going to do everything in my power to not go back to where I was 11 months ago!!!
  • are you drinking diet soda or other "sugar free" drinks? If so, cut them out completely. It worked for me!
  • The secret to weight loss is there is no secret. Stop eating garbage and exercise! I saw that posted somewhere. It makes complete sense. What worked for me? Stop drinking soda--not even diet soda. Log everything you eat in a journal everyday--this site is great for that! Eat healthy foods, but use portion control. WALK! or…
  • I live in Northeast Kansas. Been here all my life. "Rural by choice"!
  • I live in a small town, but I got mine at our pharmacy. They have health food items.
  • I stopped drinking soda a year ago. I will have a sparkling water (no sugar added) every now and then. I don't miss it at all.
  • Okay, I am 51. I started in January and have lost 57 lbs. YOU CAN DO IT! I get told often that I look younger now. Here's my lifestyle change: I don't drink pop at all. NONE. Just water, coffee (black) and occassionally unsweetened tea. I eat 5 times a day everyday: Breakfast (usually plain cheerios and skim milk); snack;…
