  • I chose mine based on when I think I looked best. I'm 5'5" and my goal is 170. Before I was pregnant with my daughter I was 165 (size 8-10) and with my frame and muscle mass, I had started to look gaunt in my face which just didn't look good. So, I don't care what any chart says, I know were my body needs to be.
  • Cayenne pepper and Tabasco Sauce! Yummy!
  • Any index of body mass that doesn't account for body composition is rubbish, pure and simple! http://healthland.time.com/2013/08/26/why-bmi-isnt-the-best-measure-for-weight-or-health/
  • Unless you're chugging a few gallons or so in 30 seconds, you aren't drinking too much water. In fact, most people follow the 8-8 ounce glasses a day rule which is woefully insufficient for any adult over 150 pounds. In order to ensure you are getting an adequate amount of water in a day and avoid water retention, you need…
  • I pre-log dinner and then fit breakfast and lunch into what's left. Much easier and then I can have what everyone else has.
  • Women's Yurbuds!!!! I have incredibly small ears and have never owned a pair of ear buds that stayed in. I have an over the ear version of these and they stay in my entire run. I still have issues on occasion, but these definitely are awesome and the best I've ever owned.…
  • I make the Weight Watchers zero point soup and LOVE it. So good and you control what you put in it. I eat it for lunch quite often. I dont know if I makes a difference in weight lost, but it certainly let's me eat well at lunch.
  • Newman Own Toasted Sesame Ginger (it's ridiculously low calorie and tastes awesome) or just red wine vinegar and oil. ????
  • I don't work out that often, not as often as I should; however, with the FitBit I've noticed that it's a rare day that I don't get in 10K steps. Perhaps just getting in more steps by parking further from the store or similar type of things can be just as beneficial.
  • I tend to round up when I track to make logging easier, so if the difference is significant, I'll change it.
  • Absolutely the waiting game....when, oh when, will the scale change!!
  • Look at the foods you are eating. I'm 291 right now and MFP calculated 1500 calories for me. I could stuff myself with veggies all day long and not hit 1400 calories, so it's really about changing the food choices. I struggle most days to get over 1200 and I don't eat back any of my exercise calories (I spend about an hour…
  • Personally, I think BMI calculations are a bunch of bunk unless done in a tank. Calculating what you BMI is by using height and weight only doesn't give you any where near an accurate BMI. There is no accounting in that calculation for body composition. Women that are 5'6" and 155 with a muscular build and low body fat %…
  • I'll throw in my two cents because...well, I can. I think it's absolutely asinine to say you are cutting out all of any type of food. If you ate sweets, drank gallons of soda, or gorged yourself on pasta for years to get fat, than chances are you like those things..there's a shocker. So, it's nice to say "I'm giving up all…
  • Add me as a friend, I'm starting Monday too! My 6 year old is my only other partner!
  • I just made this variation and it is INCREDIBLE! 1 cup Plain, non-fat Greek yogurt (130 calories) 1/4 cup Almond Milk (15 calories) 1 packet of Hidden Valley Ranch dip (80 calories) 56.25 calories in a 1/4 cup serving and >5 grams of protein to add...amazing!!! My days of snacking on raw broccoli and cauliflower dipped in…
  • Pros: Accountability, enlightenment (I think we all believe we eat better than we actually do), support Cons: Accountability and enlightenment aren't always things people are willing to accept.
  • I'm relatively new to MFP and will be here a while. Feel free to add me. I do daily logging and am trying to get active on the boards, as well.
  • Sushi, Thai food, pretty much any Asian food. Some Italian I am! lol
  • I always pre-log my family's dinner, then figure out my breakfast and lunch based on my remaining calories. Pre-logging also let's you make decisions on guilty pleasures through the day. It let's me decide whether I can have that 190 calorie candy bar and still eat dinner. ????
  • I'd venture to say that most failed diet plans failed because people believed they had to deprive themselves of all the guilty pleasures. The only way to sustain weight loss is to learn how to eat the things you want in moderation or by adjusting the rest of your daily intake. If I know I want to eat a huge piece of cake…
  • Wow! Great job and fantastic results!!
  • I'm a relatively new daily logger. I'm also doing less than 1500 calories a day and would love to find others doing the same.
  • I think you're basically just getting at the idea that there are many different body types and some are just more muscular than others. Those people with muscular builds will likely be stronger than someone that doesn't share that body type. My 6 year old daughter has a very muscular build compared to her bff; they are the…
  • If you know what the family is having for dinner, then reverse engineer your food intake. It was important to me that when I went on a diet the whole family didn't have to change to accommodate my problem. I preload what I'm having for dinner and then figure out how I should eat the rest of the day. I've never hungry…
  • I make the Weight Watchers Zero Point Cabbage soup, the entire recipe is 250 calories and it's enough for four days--65 calories per serving. I also am a fan of anything I can put in a 60 calorie sun-dried tomato wrap. I typically put in a protein of some sort and then load it with veggies. My lunches are almost always…
  • So encouraged by all your determination. I ordered my copy of 30DS last night, should be here Friday. Plan to start Day 1 next Monday!
  • I weigh myself every day, but I will only record it in MFP when I have three days at/below the weight I'm going to record. Doing it this way, I don't record a weight that may have been a fluke. Like this past weekend, I weighed myself and was three pounds lighter than my last weigh-in; unfortunately, the evening after and…
