I went from someone who loved their milk and things like shredded wheat to being in absolute agony for days literally overnight. Through a process of elimination i think i'm suddenly intollerant of lactose and some wheat Was fine one day, next day (having felt not well and deciding to eat cereal for a day) i couldn't move…

In 2017 i lost around 37Kg pretty much exclusively by keeping an eye on things.... struggled this year for other reasons but back on the plan now
-
Around 2-3 pounds .... but in terms of motivation / resetting cravings.... its done a LOT of damage gained from past year

I'm from Nottingham

Take it 1 day at a time .... maybe use the blogging function on here (i did for first couple months) to write down how you feel ... I am taking it simple, just focus on today, don't think of the long-term numbers cos they're big and scary and feel daunting .... just get 'today' done with and making the right choices... I'm…

I've lost 70lbs this year in essence with CICO and not really any exercise
-
I'm just in the mind that i pay for things i use - plus i hate seeing ads so the premium version gets rid of those :)
-
Time and deficit Nothing more - nothing less... I've lost 68 lbs since 1/1/17 --- do i lose every week? Nope.. Do i feel that sometimes its tough? Yup .... But it is what it is and its a choice i'm making. What i am doing is taking it a day at a time ... but there's no magic here and you just have to get out of that…

I've been big all my life.... i'm uk so don't normally deal in lbs but since it seems most on here do i'll use those... At 15/16 i was approx 220lb ... been up and down since then .... past 2 years due to high stress/depression and other things i hit my max, 408lb on 1/1/17.... it was, for me, really do or die, since then…

Defintely take it as 'today' ... i stopped thinking long term because the numbers and the thought of it gets overwhelming and you start to get thoughts like 'i'll never get there'.... I found early on that blogging / writing / journalling you day was useful - write down what you did well ... brain dump out all the emotion…
-
Take this simpler..... you look at the big numbers on scales and it all feels overwhelming... This year was a real make or break for me ... i've been massive for years and years.... For me this year has been different .... mainly because i did 2 things: 1. Stopped thinking about the end-goal ... focus on short term.... 1…

I use an app called sleepfulness (ios & android) ... there's 2 meditations that i find work best (Whole & Rhythm) Do they 100% work? No ... but more often than not i don't hear the end of the track. These are about focussing your mind on something else

But similarly the lesson i'm now finally learning is that if you changed your habbits and attitudes before the surgery it saves a lot of pain and (in some cases) irriversable consequences. The lessons you have to learn sooner or later .... i found out too late... my band went wrong and causes me a lot of trouble to this…
-
Nope .... runs in the family on my mothers side ... several generations now (my grt gran, my gran, mom, cousin, uncle, me) ... I've had MRI, tried various things, seen sleep specialist ... i've just learned to tolerate a lot .... doesn't help obviously ... had full blood works about 6 months ago - everything was spot on,…

Can't speak for others but i recently had a oximetry study for sleep apnea and was all-clear... 94% o2 saturation overnight. I've been working with doctor on item by item to try and figure out my headaches.... i've had them all my life.... i can go weeks without a let-up (that does get you down!)
-
I had a band 11 years ago and has ruined me in many ways. I'm desperate for it to be removed but can't afford it private and doctor won't do it until I'm normal weight anyway... Kinda ironic have to lose weight fighting the band instead of using it
-
Losing weight is technically the easy part .... its a mechanical process of CICO ..... its the mental battle of changing potentially a lifetime of habbits / pain / upset or whatever else drove you to break your routine ... This is the problem with the weight loss industry - we're not taught how to deal with that side of it…
-
Oh wow.... i'm definitely on for this ... Vertigo is how my migraines manifest when they're bad. Tried Amytriptaline for a while but that did naff all ... Sounds like Mg might be the thing to try
-
Digital for me ... accurate or not ... its a consistent reference point that's all.... does it really matter in the grand sceme of things if its only accurate to couple hundred grams even ... not really .... as long as over the course of a month that number goes down.... I did once manage to get weighed at home and…
-
Interesting you're on that for migraines.... something to try maybe ... i'm sick of mine
-
Increase water intake or at least make sure you're well hydrated and watch your salt/sodium levels ... both can cause water retention
-
Best thing you've achived so far is the term 'ex' and getting away from someone who'll throw crap like that in your face .... you don't need toxicity in your life like that. As for the weight loss .... if you're not already just make sure that you're 100% honest with your own logging. Make sure that you've set your goals…
-
Wow ... ur ex sounds like a total 'hole ... you're neither fat nor unattractive .... do anything for yourself ... not for others!
-
The website gives me a LOT more calories than MFP's goal.... I always get the feeling they don't scale properly (either) for big people..... that site suggests 2781 daily w/ 20% loss .... MFP gives me 2060 daily w/ 1kg/week loss... I am a desk-jockey and so on both set my activity level low.
-
They've been a life saver for me personally .... i got to the end of my tether both with weight going up and up and issues i have with food (long story) .... it's taken away so much stress for me .... i'm going to keep using them until i get to a point where i can have my issues resolved properly (which needed me to lose…

I find sometimes it doesn't .... its meant to ... i think if you adjust your macros it doesn't auto-update. Best thing is to go is go 'My Home' > Goals > View Guided Setup and see if it changes But looks like it did .... best thing is to do it manually when you've had a loss
-
Its a good decision ... being honest with yourself and logging everything is crucial ... it is surprising when you start realising where it all goes :) Hope all goes well :)
-
We've all be brainwashed for years to thinking that losing week in - week out should be expected .... its not ... Give it time... i know how much it hurts in the early days when you see the numbers fluctuate but they do ... really ... over this past weekend my weight was up/down by 1-2kg day by day ... its ridiculous ...…
-
If i'm honest.... i found stop thinking in terms of 'long road ahead' helpful .... i'm focussed on each day as it comes .... we all have hectic lives, lots of stress and everything else.... I just focus on 'today' .... I have a lot of weight to lose and i think in the past i've looked at the numbers and how much time it'll…

That many of us are totally naive in terms of the mental/psychological struggle with weight management. We spend a long time learning many skills in life (swimming, driving, etc etc) but once we're in a high-weight situation we're given lots of advice (and companies like SW/WW thrive on this) of HOW to eat, WHAT to…
