I take magnesium every night. When I first started taking it, I took it in the morning with my multivitamin & after a few days of feeling sluggish all day, figured out it was the magnesium. Switched it to night & it has helped me sleep. I take 250mg at night.

    Same for me.

Melatonin gives me raging headaches. I take both magnesium and potassium. I'm sleeping much better and am regular as clockwork.

With the exception of being woken up by a 2am phone call from work on Sunday morning, I definitely feel better rested the first couple of days of taking the supplements. Friday night I got about 3.5 hours of deep sleep and last night only about 2 hours but in one long chunk rather than broken sleep. Slept well enough to dream on Friday which rarely happens.

I'm on a rather high dose of magnesium complex for my migraines (neuro recommends it) and I sleep like a baby.

Interesting you're on that for migraines.... something to try maybe ... i'm sick of mine

I managed to get rid of my migraines by going totally vegan for 90 days, then introducing foods one at a time to identify my triggers...turns out it's most land animals...seafood and dairy are all good, but not beef/chicken/pork, etc...though I have been doing NAET and now I'm getting back to being able to eat stuff.

    Migraines are horrible, good luck!!!

I saw my neurologist tonight, I've had vertigo for 4 months straight and was at MRI point. MRI is clear, and he is 100% sure that the vertigo is migraine related. Before going for the big gun medication, he's got me on magnesium, vitamin B2 (riboflavin) and pilates. We'll see how I go, but he treats many people for migraines and has had great success with the B2/Magnesium combo without having to resort to pharmaceuticals.

Oh wow.... i'm definitely on for this ... Vertigo is how my migraines manifest when they're bad. Tried Amytriptaline for a while but that did naff all ... Sounds like Mg might be the thing to try

I'm sorry about your sleep troubles. I suggest you see sleep doctor. You could have sleep apnea. Mine was diagnosed shortly after I began weight loss, I had to use CPAP, but it was cured by the time I reached my goal weight and I no longer have to use it. Sleep doctor said that losing weight and increase exercise both can affect your hormones and body chemistry, and thus your sleep. I know its frustrating that you are doing something good for yourself that then causes other unexpected issues. Regardless, we have to take care of ourselves and our bodies. Sleep apnea is a life threatening issue and is not helped by all the herbs and remedies in the world. (I don't dispute they can help with some things, but not this.) If it's not sleep apnea, doc might have suggestions to help you.

I take magnesium as part of my regular vitamin regimen, but for sleep I take melatonin. If my sleeplessness is really bad, I'll throw in a vistaril, but that makes me kind of groggy the next day.

I am a bit wary of Melatonin supplements, they seem to have an excessive amount in them compared to the amount needed by the body

Melatonin supplements come in different strengths. 1 mg was enough for me for years. We make less as we get older.

I'm taking Magnesium Aspartate for something else and moved it to night time after reading magnesium can help with sleep. It didn't for me.

I have a medical condition that interferes with my sleep. What does help is 0.5 ml CBD oil (from hemp, so legal.) It's pricey, so I'd recommend melatonin first.

Can't speak for others but i recently had a oximetry study for sleep apnea and was all-clear... 94% o2 saturation overnight.
I've been working with doctor on item by item to try and figure out my headaches.... i've had them all my life.... i can go weeks without a let-up (that does get you down!)

Are you seeing a headache specialist? I'd highly recommend one.

Nope .... runs in the family on my mothers side ... several generations now (my grt gran, my gran, mom, cousin, uncle, me) ...

I've had MRI, tried various things, seen sleep specialist ... i've just learned to tolerate a lot .... doesn't help obviously ... had full blood works about 6 months ago - everything was spot on, blood pressure used to be very high, that's now normal

Losing weight + more activity was hoping would help then i went and had the mother of all migraines 2 weeks ago which floored me for 2 days straight....

I know we are talking about trying to sleep, since menopause at 50 and at 62 still going thru it my doctor reccommended I take 1/2 a gravol at bed time and it relaxes me to fall a sleep.
I don't feel sluggish or drag my *kitten* the next day and best of all during the night I am not knocked cold.

I do take magnesium citrate to go to the bathroom, currently I take 700 mg and still don't feel clear in the am.
Any other suggestions , I do eat fruit and begs.
