58 and desperate to lose lockdown weight and get back into my skinny jeans! I want Taran back (she's the girl in the middle of my profile pic, my fanfic OC who I love cosplaying). I'm having problems with arthritis in my hip and back ache, the joys of middle age, lol! But MyFitnessPal is helping I think, and I like seeing…

By the way that's me in the middle, at my optimum weight and size, two years ago!

Hello, I'm 58 and just under 5 feet so hope I qualify! I have my lockdown bod on, much too heavy at 149 pounds, but I'm starting to lose gradually. I want to be around 126 - 130 lbs, but really would like to drop a dress size and get back into my size 12 skinny jeans! I find exercise helps, and I'm following the high…

The thing is, you can't really control who likes and who doesn't like you. I had counselling and my counsellor said she actually got disliked by a colleague for being too sunny and positive! It wasn't great to hear but once she knew she just accepted it and moved on. Like they say, you can't please everyone. I have been…

1. First Name: Carol/Taran* (more about that below!) 2. Where does your MFP user name come from? My name! I know that's boring, but.... 3. What inspired you to join MFP? -Being overweight, unfit, and also taking on a personal trainer -so logging alongside that helped. 4. What healthy habit would you most like to create?…

I aim to 'go dry' this month - starting this week! I am developing a beer belly and my size 12 jeans have got far too tight!

Two words. Biscuits. Supper. Need to break both of these as I'm now 10 pounds over weight!!

Cheese Doritos. I love them and they hate me!

Agree completely. I've yo yo dieted since I was a teenager, now I'm 55 and the only way I lost weight properly was slowly and certainly not through starving myself! Exercise helps a lot though - it changes the way you see food, as a fuel rather than something to be scared of!

I would say, try not to eat after 8 at night, don't have caffeine close to bed time, and eat well. I used to suffer from very bad sleep apnea, severe and often (I know how distressing it can be) but touch wood, since 'upping my game' on exercise and eating generally healthier and having lost a bit of weight, it seems to…

Too many. I love cake. But I'm learning that I love chicken just as much, which does help :D

Agree wholeheartedly! I'm getting weighed in tonight by my pt at the gym and it would be a bonus if some more pounds had come off, but shape, strength and fitness is more the key for me :-)

I think the main thing isn't to restrict yourself so much that you don't enjoy what you are eating any more - but there are loads of healthy foods that are yummy too! Personally, I don't think I could ever completely give up cake, but I know that if I eat too much or on an empty stomach I will get a horrendous sugar crash…

Grapefruit slim discs - I tried them when I was a dieting teen - supposed to be appetite suppressants - didn't need to lose weight back then but desperate to be skinny! They tasted like chalk and didn't even help me lose weight!

Me too!

- also cut down on salt if possible as that makes you retain more fluid

Taylor's of Harrogate Hot Lava Java - strength 6!! Not for the fainthearted.

[Kataniki..........I'm with you about not getting drawn in to others drama; my DD (22 now) (and her friends) has been known to exaggerate circumstances and events somewhat. Every situation is different, but usually I found refusing to participate in the outrage and anger about the unfairness of life (or whatever event),…

Hello, I'm a 52 year old Brit who has a terribly sweet tooth but a strong desire to get fitter and healthier! Hope we can share strength and resolution together.

Alpen with no added sugar, topped with omega seed mix and some fresh fruit (preferably berries) and Apro (naturally) sweetened soya milk.

Your approach to weight loss sounds very healthy to me - and very logical. Well done on having a nice healthy lifestyle!

I am taking some medication that can lead to weight gain and I am nearly a stone overweight, but am trying to address this through exercise. Diets have never really worked but sensible eating and more exercise have been more successful long term. I would like to share motivation and support with anyone who wants to.

I was on the GI Diet and so refused the biscuits after donating blood and had a banana instead. I got home and then almost passed out! I had to learn the hard way!

That sounds lovely! I have strawberries and blueberries on Alpen no sugar added muesli with Alpro milk, and a sprinkling of granola and mixed seeds - with a dribble of half fat evaporated milk for sheer naughtiness!

Hi there, I am very lucky in that my hubby is a chef and is very supportive of my need to get leaner and fitter. He does admit that the portions HE cooks for ME can be somewhat on the large side but most of what he cooks is healthy. However there is a great book out called Cook Yourself Thin with great tasty recipes but…
