  • Cool thread! JFT 7/6 Do another Insanity workout to make up for yesterday. I've got to keep my restart high going! Eat a reasonable dinner. No alcohol. Volunteer and finish three projects. JFT 7/7 Keep on track with Insanity. Eat well. No alcohol. Finish five projects.
  • Feel free to add me. I know I need to recommit or shock myself into doing this seriously — or something. I've been struggling with the same poundage since high school, and I'm also 28. Sometimes I lose a little and feel great, and then I seem to have no idea how I ever did that and basically binge eat. I'm not a big fan of…
  • I want in! I've been struggling to get back on the wagon all year, and I finally decided I've just got to get up at 6 a.m. every weekday and work out, no excuses. I'm also going to log calories, which I've never made myself do. I have to lose weight!
  • This is brilliant. Thank you! I do notice that when I read, shop, or do chores I can't eat! Or even if I keep my hands busy while I watch TV. In my house we've developed an awful (well, for me) habit of sitting down to a good show once dinner is ready. And then I reach for another glass of wine, a second portion, or…
  • I read on a blog yesterday that sometimes it's best to just give some things up and start saying "I don't eat french fries. Period." Decision made via food rules. These tips are great. Thank you!
  • I didn't mean I force myself to eat kale. I will sometimes throw a little into a delicious berry/banana smoothie. It also pairs pretty well with ginger. I actually like a lot of healthy stuff. I just like junk a lot more or at least that's what I tell myself (or what the marketing tells me).
  • Don't give up! These wonderful commenters gave me the power today. Tomorrow it's all me — and you. Unless of course this thread is still going. :)
  • Hah! I have a similar photo. I never took a "before" when I started a long time ago, but one of my worst photos was a wedding shot. Thanks for the encouragement, and keep moving forward!
  • Vismal, you're so right about the goals! Usually I feel this way when I've given in to watching TV all night or work is particularly slow. I've got to find better ways to fill my time because they absolutely keep me going (and not eating junk). spacebean_85, I cook great food and treat myself. I just always find myself…
  • Keep it up. My loss hasn't been much either — but I'm giving it my all this week and you should too!
  • Wow, you're doing so well!
  • Week 4 SW: 155 lbs CSW: 150.6 (Sept. 1) CW: 150.1 lbs (Sept. 16) GW: 144 lbs UGW: 130 lbs So it's looking like I'm not going to have a big loss for the month unless I drop 6 lbs this week. But I'm killing the workouts at least. I had some bad days — but I made major progress in moving my workouts to 6 a.m. so I never have…
  • Good goals! Keeping busy really helps me from snacking. And if I tell myself it's an apple/carrot or nothing that helps me see whether I'm really hungry. Weight you already lost and regained only to now lose again is still weight lost! Got to get excited about something to keep the ball rolling.
  • I am not excited about what Daylight Savings might do to my workout routine! Good for you finding a way around that.
  • Make it a month of fresh starts if you have to! Get there mentally. You can do it! :)
  • Week 3 FTW SW: 155 lbs CSW: 150.6 (Sept. 1) CW: 148.8 lbs (Sept. 16) GW: 144 lbs UGW: 130 lbs It's going well. My waist is reappearing, and I've lost 1.8 lbs since Sept. 1. (My bulging waist was part of how I knew I needed a fresh start!) Food-wise, I've been making hummus, pushing fruits/veggies over other snacks, and…
  • Way to go. Good goals! What are your favorite high-protein snacks and such? I try to keep my protein up, too, because it helps with hunger. I love hummus and Greek yogurt. I've also experimented a little making lentil granola bars. I need to make another batch of lentil crunchy snacks, too.
  • My boyfriend manages to stay skinny while eating terribly. I figure it'll catch up with him sooner or later, and it'll be really funny when he decides he needs to start an exercise regime. (He likes to say things like running is stupid unless you're being chased.) Unless you eat all your meals with your husband, it's hard…
  • OK, here's my week 2 check-in. SW: 155 lbs CSW: 150.6 (Sept. 1) CW: 151.2 lbs (Sept. 9) GW: 144 lbs UGW: 130 lbs I've done pretty well. The clean start idea really got me excited to try harder. I even had a day last week when I basically had no lunch to take and usually would have gotten a gyro or grilled cheese but I dug…
  • Thanks, MamaDee2! It's often not even "not as planned," just not ideal. I just started a class on Mondays that means I go to work and don't get home until 10 p.m. And then if I have a late (planned) meeting, that's two workouts a week I'm not able to do.
  • Isn't that the worst? I always find myself eating things because they're so good and why waste it? But really I'd rather some things go into the trash than into me. I'm not a trash can! Not even a gastronomically inclined one. Way to go on your resistance so far. Get stronger.
  • Great job resisting!
  • So we're officially on Day 3 now. On Sunday (Sept. 1) I hiked/walked about 2 miles in 90 degree heat. Sept. 2 I completed Day 9 of Insanity and felt pretty great. I also mowed half the lawn. Tonight (Sept. 3) I've got a late meeting, so no workout. I have planned my workouts for the rest of the week though! I can do better…
  • SW: 155 lbs CW: 150.6 lbs (Sept. 1) GW: 144 lbs UGW: 130 lbs I've yo-yo-ed up and down from my ultimate high weight of 150. In February I was feeling amazing at 137 lbs. I plan to eat as clean as possible (veggies, fruits, beans, half of any hamburgers I give in to) and keep on track with Insanity (currently week 2). I…
  • Yes, the mental games are so tough! If I have a bad day, I'll find myself trying to eat it away. It feels so much better to work it out instead. After a workout I'm either exhausted or filled with energy to keep doing positive things. What a reward. I also saw a new source of inspiration last night — an acquaintance of…
  • OK, I'm in! I've really slacked off since my last major loss in February. It's depressing. I just want to eat, and I keep letting myself fall into the spiral of something sucks, I'm eating. I know regular exercise feels so good. I'll stay on the Insanity wagon all month (already about a week in) and bust this emotional…
  • Count me in, please! I lost 15 lbs and I've been yo-yoing around for almost a year. I have at least another 10 to lose and some toning to do so. Beach pics — this summer!
  • I get excited about moderation. For example, on Friday I woke up feeling great knowing an Insanity workout awaited me at 6 p.m. During the day, it felt so good to eat healthy and watch my calories. I also knew that after my workout I had a date with my boyfriend to walk to an Asian food place. Yeah, I wanted a (fried) crab…
  • Kombucha is so easy. You can even make your own using one of the store-bought brews. It just takes a lot longer. Brew 1 gallon of tea (hot water + 4/5 black tea bags - with no essential oils added like bergamot, just pure black tea). Add 1 cup sugar. Make sure it dissolves. Wait until the mixture is room temperature, and…
  • Done! Thanks for a great challenge. Just what I needed. I didn't expect I could do it, but it ended up being not so hard. ;)
