That is your personal choice. The OP didn't ask whether anyone liked them or not, she asked for help because of a specific medical condition that pretty much requires a low / controlled carb lifestyle.

Incorrect with someone with the hormone imbalances that PCOS causes. Carb counting is far more important than calorie intake due to insulin and blood sugar levels.
-
You have to give your body time to start healing. You won't lose much weight until hormones start aligning again and it just takes time. Yes, you eat sensibly. Add some berries, melons and other summer fruits in there, just a couple of times a week.

Eat lots of fat, moderate protein intake and a lot of green leafy vegetables. Eat some higher carb vegetables and fruits a couple of times per week and drink lots of water.

Exactly.

No, its not an idiotic suggestion. It depends on the degree of insulin resistance that occurs as to how low and how strict one needs to be with PCOS. I have had to adopt a controlled carb lifestyle due to extreme PCOS symptoms that have taken a long time for healing to occur in my body, but it is slowly but surely…

Add to this list coconut oil.

Yes, fat is one of the most important macro-nutrient for hormone production, etc

How do you maintain this??? I like high fat, moderate protein, low carb way of eating. Very satisfying

Atkins lifestyle is very structured and a ketogenic way of eating slowing adding in higher carb vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, dairy, grains and starches. Atkins is good if you need to know how different types of foods affect your well being, energy levels and just how you overall feel. You start out at 20 grams of carbs…

I have done several Whole 30's................ I pretty much am eating that way all the time now. So let's go!!!

Is it possible to schedule with a more progressive Dr that stays up on current trends of treatments for certain disorders? I say this because I have a friend that has PKD and her Dr has put her on a ketogenic way of eating which is high fat, moderate protein, lower carb (carbs from vegetables and fruits) and she is having…

I'm also bi-polar and eating high fat, moderate protein and carbs has allowed me to come off all meds and have even moods. I haven't had to be on meds since getting rid of the packaged foods in which my pDoc and nDoc have told me they can cause changes in brain chemistry due to the food dyes and such that are used in the…

I agree. Nothing is exact anyway..............it is all estimates. A lot of Doctors are telling their patients to skip the scale and formal calorie counting...........make small adjustments and see how your clothes fit. If said clothes are getting tight, your eating too much or eating the wrong foods............if they are…

Nope. I just eat. I don't count, measure, nothing. I cook meat and vegetables, put half veggies, half meat on plate and eat until full. Its called intuitive eating.

That's why the FDA has the Aspartame toxicity file made public when it appeared on the docket to be heard and listed as a neuro-toxin. http://www.fda.gov/ohrms/dockets/dailys/03/jan03/012203/02p-0317_emc-000199.txt

Exactly! There are people that live on Meat, fat and water - as close as you can get to ZERO carb and they are thriving.

This whole post is LOL.....................long term ketosis doesn't damage the liver. Indefinite ketogenic eating lifestyles are prescribed by doctors for those that are prone to epilepsy and also dialysis patients. Ketoacidosis is a very serious condition that occurs in diabetics, not a healthy person. Keto is a…

First of all, its not Obamacare. It is the Affordable Health Care Act. This erks me more than anything. Anyhoo, before the AHCA was enacted many insurance companies were doing those incentive programs in regards to smoker vs non-smoker, healthy weight range, etc. How you care for yourself now is a good indication of how…

I eat a high fat, moderate protein, lowish carbs and take Vitex also. The reason we with PCOS have such a hard time losing weight is because of the hormone imbalance. Just be patient, it will happen. Also, I have found that when I get enough sleep I am able to lose weight a bit more easier.

This is reason 1001 as to why vegan lifestyles are not enough to be balanced for good health. There are many deficiencies that come from this lifestyle which leads to depression and other ailments. Why not look into being a Pescetarian?? Its a much more balanced lifestyle and much more sustainable for good health.

I agree. Carbs when diabetic should ideally come from vegetables first and foremost..........then dairy, nuts, fruit........eaten sparingly should be starches and grains. You want to PREVENT damage to your nerves and organs.
