I LOVE a rowing machine. Seriously. But my back HATES rowing machines!! 20 minutes on a rowing machine will have me hobbling for weeks. Don't buy one until you've had a chance to use one a few times to see if it's really what you want.

First time. Haven't done a challenge in ages. Need to get serious about this again.

I need to get serious again. Count me in.

I'm sorry for your loss. Keep in mind that your dad made choices for himself. It sounds like he spent years pushing people away and, in the end, he reaped what he had sown. You never could change who he was. He had every opportunity to look you up and mend the holes, but he chose not to. You made efforts to reach out---he…

I think I'd put it inside a zip lock baggie. Better safe than sorry.

That's not a *little* NSV. That's a big one! Congrats!

I need to be answer-able to someone. Let me in?

I had it done in November 2011. Worked fabulously. No period at all. My friend had it done after having a D & C. Didn't work at all for her. She ended up with a complete hyst. Her family has 9 cases of ovarian cancer in the last 3 generations, so it was probably the best move for her anyway. PM me, if you like.

My husband is allergic to tree nuts. The allergic changes in sensitivity. Sometimes he can just smell them and have a reaction, other times, not. (we've been married 25 yrs, so this is spread over years) Walnuts are worst. Pecans run second. Pistachios, cashews, almonds, etc run a distant 3rd. Evidently, less of what he…

This is normal. My toes fall asleep on the elliptical. I find that rocking my weight back on my heels for a few seconds every now and then helps. They won't fall off, keep going.

Butterbur. An herb. The label recommends 1 capsule 2X a day, but 2 capsules 2X a day is also safe if your migraines are resistant. http://www.amazon.com/Butterbur-Extract-75-60-Caps/dp/B001TEIM1A/ref=sr_1_1?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1369925760&sr=1-1&keywords=butterbur My husband has never had a migraine in his life, but takes…

We like going to Quaker Steak diner. When you check their website the only nutritional info they offer is for their BBQ sauces. Like that matters?

Awesome for those with allergies.

I have heart palpations if my potassium is too high AND when it's too low. I take a potassium tablet a day and that seems enough to keep me at a happy medium.

Most cats are lactose intolerant. Gives them the runs. Our little female cat gained weight after we STOPPED giving her milk.

HRM's are completely different from pedometers. A HRM tracks your heart rate and figures your calorie burn from that. Pedometers (FitBit and BodyBugg, etc) use your overall movements to figure what your calorie burn *might* be. These 2 things are NOT interchangeable. The HRM is somewhat more accurate. I like my FitBit to…

Done! Hope the next challenge doesn't involve quads! Mine could use a break.

I may be crawling up the stairs later, but I'M IN!!

The heart rate readers on treadmills are notoriously WRONG. As are the calorie burns. The speakers on my ProForm aren't very good. Make sure you get a model intended for running, quite a few are for mostly walking with the occasional jog. Treadmills are deadly boring. I have a tv, dvd player and Roku set up in front of…

I'll second (or third or tenth) the knitting. It's portable. You only need to know 2 stitches to create most things. I got back into knitting a few years ago when I needed something to 're-center' myself. Too many funerals. Join Ravelry. Millions of patterns, many of them free, yarn suggestions, and free advice from very…

Speaking as someone who is more tortoise than hare.... Tempo runs. Short runs (a mile maybe less) going fast. Do a good warm up and set your sights on a 10 minute mile. The goal not being how many miles, but how quick. At first, you'll be only doing 1 interval, but then you'll up it. Probably keep it to a mile or less for…

Got a run in early. Should be some walking today, too.

Of course, if this is the way she operates, you may NOT want to work for her.

I was once told, "You're good enough looking to go out with, but not good enough looking that anyone *else* will ask you out.". Yes, seriously. I dumped him and then he stalked me.

Just had a touch up on my permanent eyeliner yesterday. It takes a couple of sessions to get it just right. My thoughts (in no particular order): 1. One of the BEST things I've ever done. I used to NEVER set foot out of the house without my eyeliner on. Now it never sweats off, wears off, or smudges. 2. Find a qualified…

My justification for a more expensive treadmill was the cost of driving to the gym. I live 17 miles from the gym (we're in the country), so 34 miles round trip times the Federal mileage rate of 55 cents per mile times 3-4 trips per week. Unless I've got an injury I do use it at least 3 times per week. I've got an 8 year…

Thursday. No exercises. Burned 276 riding my horse. Friday. Toted a 2 gallon sprayer around the bottom pasture for just over 2 hours. FitBit says I walked 4 miles. The scale says I have lost 1.5# for the month. I'm PMS'ing and my face is breaking out. I know there's some water weight going on.
