  • I've had lunch type sandwhiches, stir fries, chili, whatever. I try to have a good balanced breakfast. I'm not afraid to "spend" my calories on it. A good breakfast will stick with my right to lunch- no snack needed in between, so my breakfast cals are higher than a lot of other folks. I eat at about 7:30 in the morning…
  • totally love my ninja. I used to have an immersion blender and I thought that made great smoothies. I was wrong. The ninja decimates ice and frozen fruit. No more huge chunks floating around. My hubs got me the "kitchen" system for christmas- it has a food processor like attachment, traditional blender attachment, and two…
  • http://www.skinnytaste.com/search/label/Asian%20Inspired%20Recipes not all of these are stir fries, but they are all asian inspired. I love this website. Sometimes I need to add more herbs/spices/seasoning than recipe calls for, but for ideas of what to even make, it rocks. She has AWESOME latin inspired recipes as well.
  • skinnytaste.com so many recipes. One caveat- I often add more spices/herbs/seasoning than what the recipe calls for. But for ideas, inspiration and recipes I wouldn't think of.. it is the bomb. My favs- chicken ropa, chicken santa fe, sweet barbacoa pork, banging good shrimp, pollo sabrosa, asian glazed drumsticks. She has…
  • I usually don't use oil in marinades. I'd say counting half to 2/3 of the oil you use is an estimate. Better than counting all or none!
  • I usually have leftovers from dinner- grilled lean meat, some grilled or steamed veg or salad, and sometimes some baked/grilled potato, or brown rice or maybe pasta. I also make lots of crock pot things like chicken ropa, chicken santa fe, sweet barbacoa pork, chili, soups, etc. I then have veg and/or "starch" on the side.
  • one thing to do to counteract the dizzy spells when standing up is to move your arms and legs around pretty good before standing. that might give you a temporary BP jolt and help prevent the dizziness. I get it too. sometimes its so bad that I almost have hit the floor. My BP is on the low end, but still in a normal range.…
  • I only do burgers out on the grill, where flames are expected! :) If I do them inside, I put em on the george foreman.
  • skinnytaste.com i make batches of lots of "staples" like chicken/pork ropa, chicken santa fe, sweet barbacoa pork. freeze in servings and it's ready to go when you want. just serve with/on salad, zoodles, potato, rice, pasta, tortillas, whatever. Grilled chicken or pork loin chops. I buy them in bulk, divy them up into 3-4…
  • I have either leftovers from dinners, or I pull out stuff I made and froze. Skinnytaste.com has great recipes(if you didn't know that already). many are great for making big batches of- chicken ropa, sweet barbacoa pork, santa fe chicken, etc then I divy up into individual servings and freeze. pull one out in the morning,…
  • skinnytaste.com lots of great recipes, and vast majority are pretty easy to make. she has pretty good collection of slow cooker recipes, and lots of grilling recipes. I like to buy my meat in bulk, and break it down into smaller packages. I put boneless skinless breast/thighs into vacuum sealer bags with spice rubs or…
  • salad dressing can be easy- especially if you like vinagrettes. a little olive oil, crushed garlic, smidge of salt, pepper, vinegar, some dijon mustard to emulsify, and any herbs you want to add. blend away! spaghetti sauce is easy to make- but if you use canned tomato sauce(plain) still check the label- they still pack a…
  • water. I too love regular soda- diet chemical crud is not worth it. So I learned to drink water. and I love unsweetened tea- If i want something that feels like its sweet but isn't- I drink a berry infused tea or china mist passion fruit tea. I can only find that in nearly industrial size bags- so I don't get it often.…
  • I usually enjoy the same thing over and over for breakfasts during the week. whole wheat english muffin, egg, all natural ham slice, and extra thin slice swiss cheese. about 300 cals. I use a breakfast sandwhich maker. hamilton beach brand I think. 3 mins and it's done.
  • I'm sure there are good number of recipes in the Recipes section. A favorite website of mine for great recipes/inspiration for cooking is skinnytaste.com really- go there. some great stuff. easy to modify. all have been pretty darn good that i've tried. only thing is I usually end up adding more seasoning/spices than what…
  • I do this in fits and spurts. a lot of times my favorite healthy meals the kids aren't so much into, and hubs gets tired of it quickly- so I always have extras to freeze. I have a vacuum sealer system- that makes it so so so easy and so much more fits in my freezer! good job!
  • Ditto Previous Poster. I love skinnytaste.com for recipes or recipe inspiration. Many times i'm the only person eating the dish. I still cook the full(sometimes half) recipe- and divy it up and have leftovers for lunches and/or freeze the remaining.
  • I'd personally rather have one can- counted for- of a regular soda than any of the diet crud out there. I had to give up diet soda a while back because it was interacting poorly with some medications I was on. So I gave it up cold turkey.. replaced my 3 can a day diet soda with one can of regular soda every other day or…
  • wow. I'm in vet med, and find that an animal in ketosis is doing everything BESIDES thinking clearly! They are grumpy to downright nasty and aggressive. They smell too. And chronic ketosis, according to what I learned in class can damage the brain and kidneys. The brain can't process ketones, only glucose. Maybe science…
  • I have a mixed review. I like the strawberry shakeology. I think I feel better and have had far less colds/illnesses while using it. It's not a huge appetite suppressor for me. which is fine. It IS basically a very very expensive multi-vitamin/protein powder/fiber powder. I've dropped my subscription and will be hunting…
  • hard boiled egg whites(don't like the hard boiled yolks). cooked/roasted/grilled chicken. thin sliced cheeses, all natural(no nitrates) ham, turkey, chicken. cottage cheese
  • totally ditto skinnytaste.com. I buy meats of all sorts in bulk. break it up into needed sizes- like 4 chops to a bag. then I put rubs or marinades in the vacuum seal bags, vacuum seal away and freeze. they marinate as they thaw later. I also will cook up big batches of things on the weekend and then divy up into ziploc…
  • Can't answer if it's just the way the tool is or not. For me, it's not too much of an issue, because I almost always divy up any major recipe I have into the number of servings I listed in the recipe tool. If the recipe serves 8, I pull out however many plates I need for that meal(ie hubs, 2 kids, myself), then ziploc tubs…
  • some medications like ephederine are drying. This drying can occur not only in your nasal/sinus passages, but also your airways and other mucus membranes. Your body may adjust to this by retaining water, often pulling it from your stool in the colon and by concentrating your urine more. In the end, this may lead to some…
  • Grilled chicken, grilled steaks, grilled chicken sausage, grilled pork loin/chops, grilled veggies. grilled fruit. I also bring pre-made bags of salad. eggs. boiled eggs. I've made whole grain pasta salads with lots of chopped veggies and a light on the oil vinagrette. we have a travel trailer though- with a good sized…
  • One thing I do is take a whole chicken(or parts) and crock pot it with some chicken broth, onion, garlic, celery, carrots, parsley and tarragon. Once cooked, I separate out meat and shred, and freeze in about 2 cup packages. then I defat the cooking liquid(toss the veg) and break that up into 2 cup packages as well. Now…
  • http://www.skinnytaste.com/search/label/Crock%20Pot%20Recipes sometimes the spices/seasoning for these can be a bit light.. so adjust accordingly before serving to your tastes. I've done the sweet barbacoa pork many times-but I refuse to use chemical crud from diet/zero coke. so I use reg coke and adjust cals accordingly.
  • http://www.skinnytaste.com/2010/06/broiled-or-grilled-pollo-sabroso.html http://www.skinnytaste.com/2012/05/bangin-grilled-shrimp-skewers.html basically most things here: http://www.skinnytaste.com/search/label/Grilled%20Recipes I also love simple teriyaki or "asian" flavor marinades for chicken and pork chops. same with…
  • http://www.skinnytaste.com/2007/07/low-fat-chicken-recipes.html this link has a recipe for chicken salad. haven't tried it. so can't say if its tasty or not. What type of "dressing" do you like right now for your salad? a sour cream and mayo type? you can always use light sour cream and olive oil mayo(hellman's makes one)…
  • I was just going to say "balance".. maybe try a bit more of each? or bit more of your protein source at lunch. I usually have leftovers from dinner myself. so for me that's protein, grain(by and large whole grain source), and veg. today was a salad with some hard boiled egg, real bacon bits, a smidge of grated cheese,…
