  • idauria ... http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/737002-my-blood-work-after-6-months-of-primal-paleo <---- another member of this group reported his stats and they are also quite good. Thank you for sharing this Aggie!! Way to go!!!!!!!!!
  • The weight gain may have nothing to do with the change in lifestyle ... then again, it could be. But women can fluctuate 5 pounds just because. And then there's the possibility that the change has caused a bit of constipation ... which is normal until the body adjusts to not having as much gunk to pass along. If you are…
  • Fantastic!! I'm looking forward to getting my numbers at the end of the year. Like Mike, I'm curious about the c-reactive protein (CRP) although I assume that would be low considering your lipids are spot on.
  • I try to get as close to my 1200 net daily calorie number as possible ... this is for weight loss. I want to drop another 50 pounds although at this stage of life, that may be out of reach??? I'll keep at this as long as I am feeling good, and at the moment, I am feeling really good.
  • buy some really good coffee beans and grind them fresh every morning ... you may find you enjoy the taste of the coffee bean and will no longer want to cover it up with creamers. I used to be heavy on the sweetners and creamers ... now I want nothing between me and the taste of a good roasted coffee bean. ;)
  • My net is 1200 (based on a "sedentary" lifestyle) so I eat more when I do more, either exercise or house cleaning, etc. This is based on me wanting to lose no more than 2# a week. I quit eating wheat and corn, so I really have to work some days to get my calories.
  • Some days are high fat, some are more moderate. Almost all meat I eat is locally raised, and the beef is 100% grass fed so even the animal fat is pretty good (extra omega 3 ... by a LOT!). I have more energy when eating moderate carbs/fat.
  • I'm no doctor or anything like that ... but I figure that if you feel good, you are fine. Do what is working for you. Your body should tell you if you are not eating enough. Years ago I used to jog a lot, training for marathons, etc. I belonged to a great group. One day I posted how tired I was feeling a lot of the time…
  • I still cook the grains hubby and son like, but make a ton of vegetables for daughter and me to have what we need, which is a lot more than they do. We all enjoy the meats. I'm fortunate though, hubby is happy with a pot full of rice. I don't have to do much with it, just have it cooked. He uses the vegetables as the…
  • Well ... I think I stumbled into Paleo/Primal without realizing it! I like "primal" ... screaming is cathartic. I began my journey by latching onto a rancher about an hour away from me who raises beef, pork, chicken and lamb the old-school way. His beef is 100% grass fed. His other critters get some grain, but all organic…
  • I'm aiming for daily net calorie consumption of 1200. I set up MFP as "sedentary" .... which was/is honest so I track every piece of exercise including cleaning house, horseback riding, etc along with specific exercises of swimming and ellyptical which are my cardio of choice, and also strength training. I don't have a…
  • What was the context? I know for discussion board threads, people often *bump* the thread to the top of the heap so it doesn't get lost.
  • Hi there and welcome. It's an easy site to navigate. You'll find your way soon enough. At the moment the only advice I can offer is to stick with it! Make sensible, achievable goals and use the calorie counter that is part of this site to track each and every day.

  • ooooo ... I LOVED the 1/2 marathon! Just enough to know you did some serious work, but no proverbial *wall* any where in sight. :) I miss my running days, but now the tops of my feet burn when I do anything more strenuous than a good, fast walk. One day I'll head to the doc to find out what's up with that. Welcome and best…
  • Depending on where you are, see if there is some "community supported agriculture" farms near you, in addition to your farmer's market. These are a little less expensive than buying "organic" produce at the grocery store, especially if the grocery store is considered a "health food" grocery store. Some CSA's let you *work*…
  • I love them baked ... and plain. If I have a little extra room in calorie count, I will use butter (I am fortunate to live near a fabulous small-tie dairy and get the premium stuff!).
  • Hello! Will gladly give you any support you need ... just holler! Hubby came home with a diagnosis of hypertension (high blood pressure ... stage 1) and has done a very good job in fighting it without medication. The primary key? Fresh vegetables and fruits. Lots of them! The single best thing you can do is rid yourself of…
