There's a Steak and Shake franchise in town that once refused to seat and serve me and my client who has an outwardly visible disability. When I called and complained, the manager denied it happened. When I emailed the corporate headquarters, they ignored me. When I called the corporate headquarters, they acted…

I'm 5'2" or 5'3" (depending on the current state of my scoliosis), 31, and have had two kids . In the last 3 years I've: lost 30lb gone from "skinny fat" to "sort of fit" began destroying a life time of self-hate and negative body image recovered and moved forward from an abusive situation . In the last 3 weeks I've:…

The Gods Must Be Crazy (1980). A clever trip following a tribal African man as he navigates "civilization" trying to dispose of an object that brought evil to his people. Filled with slapstick and cultural mis-communications, this is a sweet story and a lot of fun. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gods_Must_Be_Crazy

The Triplets of Bellville (2003). I loved this movie. It's animation is strange and organic, and with little dialog, you fall in love with the characters and their story through the animation and music. It's both funny and heartwarming, and is slightly dark and gritty without being overly so.…

I do yoga most mornings and am prone to taking long, slow, nature hikes every weekend. Sometimes I meditate, but I'm currently out of the habit as my life has become very low stress and I don't often feel the need. I find these things relaxing and the practice of mindfulness keeps me calm and levelheaded throughout my…

I'm not fat, it's big bones, er, i mean, it's a wide-angle camera lens.

3 old hair dryers with burned out motors and a statue of a cat.

Cameras tend to turn my face from "aw cute" into "ew Quasimodo" too.

Everyone will tell you you're not eating enough. It's the favorite mantra of these forums. You can easily eat a little (lot?) more, maybe, if your current weight is higher and/or you're taller than 5'3", even if you're mostly sedentary. however, I'm an advocate of lower daily calories, because that way, if you have a…

a box of spark plugs and random knobs and wires that, even as a car fan, he has no idea what they're for. Also, 3 quarts of motor oil and back issues of car magazines that are suspiciously sticky.

I don't have anything to add except that my body looks a LOT like yours, OP, and I'm struggling with the same questions. Starting last week, I'm using weight machines in the gym (mostly because my starting strength is still too low to really work with the bar....yet) 4 times a week, lifting "high" weights on low reps, with…

nah, my wolf-spiders-on-steroids are docile and harmless. their bite would be painful, but would be benign if i pissed one off enough to bite me. for some reason, they like to live right in my door jam, though, which is a bit unnerving. if they get inside, the cat makes short work of them (they're pretty much 8 legged…

Don't give up, take your time. It probably took you years to put the weight on, so don't feel discouraged if it takes some time to take it off. I've been working for 3 years to lose barely 30lb. Is it occasionally discouraging? You bet! But going slow has allowed me to not feel too guilty over holidays and special…

these are the spiders my house attracts luckily, they aren't brown recluses. Unluckily, they're as big or bigger than mice, so it's like having double pest problems at once. At least we don't live in Australia, right OP?

I prefer PM exercises but am more consistent with an AM schedule while I find morning workouts miserable, when I'm groggy and sleepy I don't have enough mental capacity to talk myself out of going every day. evening exercise is always more enjoyable, but i tend to rationalize reasons to skip regularly so I go to the gym…

I'm 5'3", small frame, maintaining at 108, and since i'm still pretty "fat" looking at this size, have recently decided to up my calories above maintenance and try strength training to try to reduce the fat. Losing more weight just seems silly. I shouldn't be this "fat" at this low of a weight

i generally eat back half of to most of my calories. my calories are set to "sedentary", but i don't always remain so. I'd be under eating if i didn't log shopping trips or walks with the dog. i only log these minor things if they last an hour or more. a 10 minute stroll doesn't count.
-
I have my calories set to "sedentary", so if i end up shopping for more than an hour, i count it. I log it as "walking, slow pace, 2 miles per hour".

well if he was just standing around flexing like that then yeah out of courtesy, of course. gotta be 'mirin

I went from a 34 A to a 26 A. 26 A actually LOOKS bigger than 34 A did on my frame. however, now i have to special order my damn bras or sew the bands down on my old favorites.

Walking has always been my primary exercise... it's taken me 3 years to lose 30lb.... but 30 is all i really had to lose, so it's a bigger accomplishment for me than it sounds like it should be.

Half of a decadent entree (the other half goes home for tomorrow).…
