Dead Man, actually, really almost all Jim Jarmusch films.
I mean, how do you not like this dude?
Never heard of him before but that photo is rather riveting. Love him on sight!
He's a total weirdo and his films are bizarre, so I pretty much just love him!0 -
The Dark Crystal
Oh and The Fall was visually stunning... much of my honeymoon was to go visit places in India where that was filmed. It's beautiful.0 -
Immortal - AMAZING CGI
Renaissance - black & white cell shading with voices by Daniel Craig
SLC Punk
And I'll toss another vote out there for The Fall & Grave of the Fireflies.0 -
Beautiful Girls
To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar
What's Eating Gilbert Grape0 -
The Cell with Jennifer Lopez was visually amazing.
good movie indeed
Agreed! I'm not a huge fan of Jennifer Lopez, but I love this movie.0 -
I have also slowly been making my way through most of the big films lists over the years (1001, AFI, TIME, etc). I have really been into Asian cinema the past couple of years and watched 250+ movies (mostly Korean, Japanese, Chinese, and Thai), here's a link to a list of my favorites: http://mydramalist.com/list/D45wqoLX
That's awesome! I just added a bunch off that list! I had a few already that were on there.0 -
Picture Bride (foreign film with English subtitles)0

The Station Agent
The Way
Faith, Fraud, and Minimum Wage
Tyrannosaur
Hooray for The Station Agent! Love that film.
Also, for German films Lives of Others is wonderful. Though it should already be on your list.
I didn't know we were doing foreign language or it would have been on there!. Right along with all three of the Trois Couleurs films. And many others.
Can I add another one that probably no one has even heard of? Donny Deckchair. I loved that film.0 -
The Triplets of Bellville (2003). I loved this movie. It's animation is strange and organic, and with little dialog, you fall in love with the characters and their story through the animation and music. It's both funny and heartwarming, and is slightly dark and gritty without being overly so.

Koyaanisquatsi (1982). This movie consists of shots of human life next to shots of nature with an intense musical background. It's very different, but incredibly powerful. Each time I've seen it, I've been moved to tears.

The Last Unicorn (1982) A classic from that time in the '80s when fantasy was all the rage. Villain voices by Angela Lansbury and Christopher Lee. Music by America.

Harold and Maude - best chopped Jaguar XKE ever
The King of Hearts
And a BBC film made for TV in the 70s with Tim Currie and Michael Palin called "Three Men in a Boat"0 -
The Court Jester with Danny Kaye... Angela Lansbury was the young beautiful princess... I still laugh histarically everytime I see it... Unfortunately, it's hard to find and I only have an old VHS copy that is almost beyond ability to watch.
The Court Jester is one of my all time favorite movies. So very funny.
My list is:
Serenity
Canadian Bacon - this is one of the most underrated movies of all time.
Them
The Blob
The Life of Brian
Attack of the Killer Tomatos
The old Godzilla movies. I also love the Gamera movies.
Old Vincent Price movies - there are so many and most were really good.0 -
The Gods Must Be Crazy (1980). A clever trip following a tribal African man as he navigates "civilization" trying to dispose of an object that brought evil to his people. Filled with slapstick and cultural mis-communications, this is a sweet story and a lot of fun.

another funny movie is the Whoopie boys0 -
Only You
I Like It Like That
Willow
Big Trouble in Little China
Labyrinth
Goonies

Once upon a time in china (sub'd version)
Dune (David Lynch version)
The Crow
Blues Brothers
All quality stuff! subbed is the only way to watch a foreign film! Unless you can't read, but other than that people need to suck it up and read the subs!0 -
Criterion? Okay
Hard Day's Night
Red Shoes
Stagecoach
Anatomy of a murder
Blow out
On the Waterfront
Life and Death of Colonel Blimp
Persona
Rules of the Game
Seven Samurai
Seconds
Shoah (must devote a whole day to this one)
Red River
Might I also suggest The General with Charlie Chaplin (or any of his work really), anything with Buster Keaton or Harold Lloyd.
My bf is a movie critic and so our movie collection is quite extensive.
You are one lucky girl! Those are a ton of awesome films! I just watched "Life and Death of Colonel Blimp" last week and LOVE IT! I've added the ones I haven't seen to my queue! Keaton is my all time favorite!0 -
Goats. Quirky and fun.
Added, with a name like that it's gotta be good!0 -
Guilty Pleasure list:
The Wizard (1989) Christian Slater, Fred Savage, and Jenny Lewis before she switched to singing.
The Cutting Edge (1992) D.B. Sweeney is adorable

Mallrats (1995) Jay and Silent Bob - enough said.
OMG! I forgot all about The Wizard! I loved that movie!!!0
