The season is right for U.S. grown pineapples, and that makes for a great snack. 1 cup diced pineapples is less than 100 calories. Picking out the perfect golden fruit, slicing off the hard outer skin, cutting into bite size chunks. MMMMM mmmm the thought of the sweet tangy fruit is enticing. And the prep work makes me…

I want something sweet, but I am really watching my sweet-tooth. So, what can I have that is sweet, healthy, crunchy, juicy. An apple, of course. And, since I don't like the skin, I find that the process of getting the apple washed, collecting a plate an knife, peeling the apple, slicing the apple, and eating the apple....…

Not to sound critical, but if this was your way to handle a very small stress in life, you might need to work on anger management more than dieting right now.

It just might be that the first proveable point will be the damage that cola products to do teeth.

Ah ha, a defense attorney is among us!

3500 calories = a pound of weight. So, eat 3500 fewer calories than you need to "maintain" your weight, and you will lose a pound. And/or you can also excercise off the calories.

"Popcorn itself is a nutritious snack choice, containing more fiber than snacks made with refined flour. In the standard three-cup serving (the size of a small mixing bowl), air-popped popcorn contains just 93 calories and less than 1.5 grams of fat." Airpopped popcorn (home poppers are cheap), without added butter or oil…

Aspartame ... Red dye.... CRIME??? Now I will have an answer for my parents when they ask me how I could have gone so wrong in life.

Have a deficit of 3500 calories, lose a pound. Fact. Be it by low carb, high carb, low fat, high fat, only eat when standing on a chair, just eat in direct bright sunlight, only use a fork with two prongs ... 3500 calories is 3500 calories.

Yep, GMO crops are a major concern. In the United States the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) reports on the total area of GMO varieties planted. According to National Agricultural Statistics Service, the states published in these tables represent 81–86 percent of all corn planted area, 88–90 percent of all…

I'm just a plain 'ol "math" sort of dieter. 3500 calories equals a pound. Eat 3500 calories less than you need to maintain your weight, and you will lose a pound. Eat 3500 calories more than you need to maintain your weight, you will gain a pound. Simple.

Soooo, a day later and no further posts? Is this thread officially dead? Before it even got going?

Thanks everyone. I forgot about canned tuna and peanut butter. Those will be in the local store. But I've never seen Greek Yogurt. :( Right now mangos are in season. They are my newest fruit favorite. Not exactly high in protein though. Wonder if there is a high protein fruit? That would be a yummy way to get protein ....…

There is much debate about if eggs are actually so "bad". Meanwhile, if you do want to have eggs for breakfast, try making scrambled eggs with salsa. Yummy! I often have eggs (sometimes hard boiled) or cottage cheese for breakfast for protein. Actually, you and I are thinking along the same lines, I just posted something…

This thread brings to light that our eating habits (in this case bad habits) can extend way beyond just how many calories we consume. It is very difficult for many of us who have the goal to "lose weight" and are using diet drinks as a tool - all the while common sense tells us that the chemicals and additives in diet…

Ah, there is the little problem I have right now of my mail being screened due to my recent slip-up with a minor swindle that I was charged with but really I AM INNOCENT. As soon as I can open my own mail, I will supply the address for the cash.

OK, I will start with a question for all, to get this tread moving along. Q.: When you are having a major attack of the munchies and know that if you start with just a few bites of .... say... potato chips, that you will go overboard, how do you handle the "emergency" to your diet? My Answer: I eat a bit of…

I did some internet research. I learned that his neck did NOT "fall off". He had a neck decompression, and traction would be helpful but is expensive and he has no insurance. Instead of you all making fun of the guy, you should be more supportive emotionally and financially. You can send donations for his traction therapy…

A pound of weight = 3,500 calories. 216 calories vs 212 calories = 4 calories difference. So, you'd need to eat 875 of the item to equal one pound of body weight. I'd say to not worry too much about it.

There is a common theme that many of us share: lose the weight, let some come back on, lose the weight again. I admit that I'll work really hard at taking off the extra pounds, then I begin to eat more "normally" (ie not watching every bite), and the pounds start to come back on. So then I'll do the "I'm going to enjoy…

OK, the name if fine with me. Hopefully this thread will be a "go".

I had a bone density test a few years ago. The nurse said I had "big bones". I asked her if that meant I could use the "large boned" catagory of weight charts, and she just smiled at me.

I need some new shorts. My favorites have worn out. I went into the store to try on some, and I was really mad at myself because I had to shop for a size larger than I want. 10 pounds extra really makes a huge difference around the waist. I refuse to buy larger clothes.

Yeah that is the truth. I never believed that age would matter, until I got here myself!! :noway:

You are already on the right track by catching the regaining before all those lost pounds return. Good work already!

Hi. I'm in! It is sometimes hard to join an already established group, so this new one fits me perfect while I take a few days to see what else is being posted in other areas of topics. I'm interested in trying to post daily, because that helps me to stay on track and I enjoy the encouragement that can come from having the…
