  • I think they're witholding it for several reasons. 1. It's been in the 90s for the past week or so throughout the country, but Valve is in NW Washington, where it has remained cool. They still think it's spring. 2. Gabe wants us to spend quality time with our families on the 4th of July and won't release it until after…
  • I bought khakis 2 months ago that were snug when I got them. Now they're fallng off of me and I absolutely have to use a belt to keep them on.
  • I have a bike race in mid-August that I hope to ride in. Last year, I did 36 miles in that race, and this year I hope to do the longest circuit of 62 miles (approx 100km). Being lighter definitely helps with the speed and endurance, so I'm trying to cut to drop weight before hardcore training during July.
  • Hmmm.... Age: 25 Height: 5'7 SW: 194 CW: 167 GW: 150 - 155 Similar? Add me!
  • Two things here. 1. Everyone plateaus. It's normal. It happens. It sucks, but it will pass as long as you keep at it. You will lose weight. 2. I am unsure of your weight, but a friend of mine used what's called the "paper towel" analogy. Think of your body as roll of paper towels. Each pound is a sheet. So when you start…
  • How many carbs are you consuming?
  • But how does one distinguish one who chooses to be fat and one who hates being fat without being explicitly being told? It is a matter of personal opinion. If you are looking for tolerance of people REMAINING fat because they choose to, you're on the wrong forum, I think. People don't join MFP to keep chowing down…
  • This is late in the game, but I'll slap my opinion around some. I think that fat acceptance is a necessary tolerance that everyone should have. Should we discriminate against fat people? Of course not. They are no different from you or your neighbor or...ANYONE. They're just fat. Read this as I THINK WE SHOULD ACCEPT FAT…
  • Hm. Sarcasm is a second language to me...
  • I was born and raised in NEPA - Scranton area. Still live there to this day. Edit: Also, if anyone at all wants to add me, please do! Not only is it neat to talk to people across the country, but across the globe, too!
  • 25 here. You're welcome to add me as a friend, if you wish. Looking to get in the best shape of my life, and any help with that would be much appreciated!
  • I think that people had a bit of a knee-jerk reaction here. I kind of got what you were putting down. I think it's dependent on what foods you consume. For example, I am regularly well under my caloric goal, but it's also based on the dietary needs I have. I eat a lot of fat and protein throughout the day, and it is…
  • Hmm. I am interested. I'm not sure how well I will do, but if you think I'm worthy, I'll try!
  • NEPA region and generally indifferent to either the Steelers or Eagles - as long as one of them wins, I'm happy. Thus far, I've really been surprised at the niceness of this community! Been very supportive.
  • I'm with you on that! I've hit 25 lbs. lost so far, which I'm very pleased with thus far. I've kind of plateaued, but physically, I'm slimming down more and more each day, so I know I must be doing something right! I'm from NEPA too! Haha.
  • What is your current height and weight, if you don't mind my asking?
  • Well, first, congrats on taking those first few steps to make yourself a new you. Most people don't even make it this far, so the fact you're taking initiative and actually ASKING FOR HELP and not just expecting a miracle is great. Second, I have not lost anywhere near what you need to lose, so I apologize for not…
  • I am here for no other reason than to tell you that you have an awesome username. Carry on!

  • As a (former) avid gym rat, a combination of both will work best. An example would be doing a full body circuit - do one exercise for 1 minute or a set number of reps, and then do something like jump rope or step ups for 1 minute. Do it for 30 minutes. Works wonders for getting your body into a healthy and lean figure!
  • Honestly, I'd say that since you're a diabetic, are you following low carb? Many people who are diabetic follow a low carb diet, and usually works wonders for weight management. Edit: How much sleep are you getting a night? And how far do you walk, or for how much time?
  • Although I am unsure if it was mentioned, scales are also a double-edged sword. Yes, they tell you your weight, but that is IT. For example, I've hit a plateau and stayed at about the same weight for a week or two now. Now, the scale is telling me that, but physically, I look MUCH slimmer. As everyone always says, fat…
  • Ah, I understand where that comes from. I feel your pain! One of my favorite pasta alternatives (though I hardly eat it anymore) is spaghetti squash. You boil the hell out of it, and then scrape the inside of it with a fork. Causes long, spaghetti-like tendrils, hence the name. It's actually surprisingly good once you get…
  • Well, in all fairness, I think that they're supposed to make you that way.
  • What is your routine? That is to day, what efforts have you been making as far as losing that weight? If I knew that, I'd be able to help out.
  • Could always use more weight-loss friends!
  • Also, I feel kind of odd reading through this thread, as my diet includes many foods that everyone is saying is awful for you. However, I had two recent doctor's appts, and my blood pressure, cholesterol, and BMI went down significantly ever since I started dieting. Example: Bacon.
  • Well, but... it's Nutella. Isn't that exempt on principle or something?
  • Dunno if anyone said this yet or not, but SUN CHIPS. Yeesh.
  • I'll say it was my initial weight loss of 10 lbs. It's since significantly slowed down, but that was amazing to me!
  • Well, welcome to MFP, and I wish you the best of luck in your journey! I guarantee that, since you did it before, you can do it again. Might I make a suggestion? I understand the frustration of someone eating whatever they want and then all of a sudden, they lose 5 lbs. So frustrating! And disheartening! I have a few…
