Why...?

Pick something, eyeball the portion and don't sweat it too much unless you plan to avoid eating out for the rest of your life. It's just one meal.

The exercise data should go both ways, I log it on Fitbit just because there are many more options (i.e you can pick a different effort or resistance level for the same exercise). I logged it on MFP once and I was double credited, I'm not sure why (perhaps I did something wrong). I'm not familiar with Rushfit, I guess it's…

I use the Fitbit app to log my workouts for the same reason. However, I suggest you don't use your HRM for weightlifting since it's not steady state cardio. It's kind of like using a kitchen scale to measure lengths.

This quote is commonly ascribed to Euclid, but I think the actual author is unknown. (just a fun fact, not a criticism. I only know because it's one of my favourite quotes and I used it in a math essay  )

Same. My hypothalamus works just fine, so if my body needs more water it never fails to let me know.

Truffles! The taste and smell make me puke. It's not something you happen to eat by mistake, but if anyone in the same restaurant orders something that has a minimal amount of truffle in it I start feeling nauseus and sick. Even if they're sitting on the other side of the room. Once I was in a fancy pub that had a sandwich…

The "fake" steps are not subtracted but the calorie burn gets corrected. (at least that's my experience when I log strength training/bike/driving, I'm scared of motorcycles lol.)
-
I was a bit scared too, then I realized no one gave a damn about me  Seriously, you're not an alien. Stupid guys are too busy admiring their biceps in the mirror, smart guys talk to me like I'm a normal person, which in fact I am. What do you think when you see a guy buying makeup? (ok, it's not the same thing but…

First of all, great choice! There is an entry for "strength training" among the cardio exercise entries. Counterintuitive, I know. It's a rough estimate but it worked for me so far. You can also switch to the TDEE method (read the Sexypants guide in the stickies) but it will probably tell you to eat wayyy more than you're…

Yes, you can disable calorie adjustments, but IMHO they're useful because they reflect your actual activity level vs. MFP's rough estimate so you don't have too big of a deficit.
-
In my experience, FitBit has been quite close to TDEE calculators so far and my results are quite consistent with Fitbit's estimates. When I exercise (weight lifting 3x week, a few bike rides and 10k steps a day) Fitbit is deadly accurate for me. If it says I had a weekly 3500 cals deficit I lose a pound on that week 90%…

I think you might have trouble estimating food portions and ingredients. Nothing wrong with that! We all started somewhere. 1700 isn't a ton of food, unless you only eat lean meat and veggies. Once you start adding carbs and fats to your diet, and this is something everyone should do because fats are important for your…

This thread is epic. Thanks for sharing

I've been using MFP's estimate for a while and losing at the predicted rate. I know it's kind of a random number but it works for me somehow. Lots of people use the TDEE method and are very happy with it. Find what works for you!

I do the same and it's perfect every time. Make sure you clean your pot very well everytime and don't lick the spoon.

I quit smoking and lost weight. First week was hell, I exercised a lot to keep myself busy and to curb food cravings. Then it gets easier and easier. Even if I had gained 20lbs I would never regret my decision. Congrats! ETA: I remember you, I'm so glad to see you're back!

My thoughts exactly.

Lots of strong first posts here. Probably just a coincidence

Strong first post.

Exactly :) But your workouts might be difficult to estimate with MFP, so I'd try with IIFYM for a few weeks then revaluate your energy levels / weight loss at that point. Just my 2 cents.
