  • I want it to stop yelling at me for eating too much fat. That’s something that I need more of, so if I exceed my goal I want it to be supportive. Haha. It congratulates me on protein. I want it to be happy about fat too.
  • If you’re looking for an elimination diet of sorts to see if food is a problem, you could look at an autoimmune protocol. I’m not saying that inflammation or an autoimmune disorder is your problem, but the elimination diet for those is pretty thorough for avoiding food sensitivity triggers. You could look at a book called…
  • Lots of things could be happening here, as has been said. I have found that apparently eggs make me feel sluggish. I also feel crappy when I have too many carbs and not enough fat. The more fruits and veggies I eat, the better, especially cruciferous veggies. Vitamin d helps me, as does magnesium each night before bed. So…
  • For exclusive breastfeeding, you’re burning up to 500 calories a day with nursing. Staying hydrated is going to have more of an effect on your production than your calorie intake. Make sure you’re still taking your vitamins and eating a balanced diet, because your body will nourish the baby at the expense of your own…
  • @jayemes it was good! I think the squash would work well. I was going to use acorn squash but I was at the store anyway, so I went ahead and got the sweet potatoes. :)
  • Honestly, I brush my teeth. Everything is gross after I’ve brushed my teeth. So I brush and then get a big cup of ice water. Or if it’s late enough to go to bed, even if I don’t think I’m sleepy, I go to bed, because I often want to snack when I’m really in need of sleep.
  • The rest of my thing disappeared. Weird. I made a rule that if it doesn’t make you gag, you have to eat it or go without. If it does make you gag, you can make yourself a sandwich.
  • My family does this thing where one person claims to not like something everyone else loves. Or my son would say something like, “I 35% like it and the rest not.” What does that even mean?!
  • If you’re concerned, your doctor can do a blood test to make sure. It’s generally best to get tested for things like that rather than asking people you don’t know. :) We can’t see your skin or test your blood, so we really have no way to definitively say whether you’re in danger or not.
  • I agree that MFP’s values are not accurate. I like to track potassium, but that’s not included in every entry, so oftentimes it says I have had less potassium than I really did. As far as I know, you can’t add nutrients in other than the ones it gives as an option. You could do it manually in the notes, but if ya not…
  • I do not have Hashimoto’s but due to some other health issues I am starting down the path of eating an anti-inflammatory diet. I have a book right now that I got from the library called The Autoimmune Wellness Handbook by Mickey Trescott and Angie Alt. It has good recipes and information in it, so if you’re going to try…
  • The oil wouldn’t be included in that, no. I generally add in a tablespoon or two of oil to my diary when I have something like this. It’s not exact, but it at least gives you an estimate.
  • I’m making a slight variation of this. https://www.budgetbytes.com/2013/09/oven-roasted-autumn-medley/ I’ve never made it before but it smells delicious!
  • Hi! I'm restarting too (came back a week ago). Feel free to add me. I never drink enough water unless I have an insulated straw cup and start drinking it in the morning right after my coffee. If I do that, I'll end up refilling it two or three times, but if I don't, I won't feel thirsty until my knees start to ache or my…
  • You're right, it's not. But my full and hungry signals are messed up, and I always seem to crave the exact opposite thing from what I need to feel good. So yeah, calorie counting and meal planning is what I'm going to have to do to maintain my health. I tried not doing that, and here I am back again because it didn't work…
  • If intuitive eating worked, nobody would ever be fat. People don't think before they say things.
  • Honestly, I'd be ok with them just not even having the cookies. That's what I would prefer. We don't do the "if you eat this, then you can have this treat" thing around here, because I don't want healthy food to be a means to an end. The healthy food is the goal. The cookie is just for sometimes. That being said, if that's…
  • Planter's Cheese Curls. Not the puffs or balls they sell now. It was their version of Cheetos and they were soooooooo good.
  • What is your specific weekend struggle? Are you going out and having trouble sticking to your goals? Is it that you're home and bored so you snack? Or do you skip workouts on the weekends? Look at the reasons why you're struggling, and then you can figure out how to solve it. If it's snacking, try pre-logging meals and…
  • Your trainer should have some advice on foods to eat. A lot depends on what you're doing to work out as well as your dietary preferences and needs. Whole foods are better, so fruits and veggies, meats that aren't processed, and so on. Avoiding added sugar is generally a good idea, and it's always good to drink plenty of…
  • Get out of the house. Get dressed, do your hair or whatever you do to make yourself feel cute, and get out somewhere that doesn't have food. Go to the library or the park and read. Or go to the movies but don't get snacks. Take a walk. Drink lots of water. And honestly, if being friends with him makes you feel this bad,…
  • Honestly, I feel like if I were that good at remembering and mentally keeping track of what I'd eaten in a day, I probably wouldn't have gained 30 pounds. So I pre-log. When I can't do that, I long from my phone or computer as soon as possible, or I write it down. If it's important, you do it. It doesn't take that long.
  • My mom had fibro and COPD. She hated being sedentary, so she did chair aerobics and walked as much as she could. She really loved it and said it made her feel so much better, and she was able to regain some other strength when she was able to add hand weights into the mix.
  • I like a little coffee with my sugar and flavored creamer, yes.
  • Hi! I also fell off the horse, but I just started back up. I'm sending you a friend request. We got this! :)
  • My dad has a saying: if it hurts when you do that, don't do that. Soreness is one thing, but an actual injury that you would describe as extremely painful needs to be checked out. Powering through could make your injury much worse. You need to see a doc about it, and in the meantime, do exercises that don't put strain on…
  • I can imagine it's a huge change going from military to civilian life. Good for you for making this change! I'll send you a friend request. :)
  • My two. They're the same age but Sheldon eats a lot and Myrtle is small due to illness as a kitten.
