I have Hashimotos, an autoimmune thyroid disease. It causes me to gain weight, even while working out and eating at a calorie deficit. It took two years to figure out how the heck I was eating at a calorie deficit and gaining fat! We are taught that a 3500 calorie deficit equals 1 pound of weight loss. For most people…

AWESOME! This cracked me up!

My 25 year old daughter and her kids live with me. I share my healthy food with the grandkids because I want them to develop healthier habits than their mother has. However, my daughter chooses to eat a pint of Ben and Jerry's twice a week, drink nothing but soft drinks and sugary drinks, and hide her stash of candy,…

I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and it causes seemingly impossible weight gain. I kept gaining even while eating at a deficit and working out. It was mystifying and frustrating for two years, until I was diagnosed. One of the ways of managing the disease, in addition to medication, is to eat low carb. Prior to being…

For an entry level bike, when you are still deciding what you want to do, Schwinn is a great bike. They last forever and even when you end up getting something else later, you will probably keep the Schwinn. They come in all varieties and price ranges, so you can find something you want in the range you are looking for…

Funny thing about the Huffy...I worked in an avionics shop at the time and was riding to and from work. When it just got to sounding awful, I took it to a bike shop to see what was going on with it. There was a comic strip taped to the counter by the cash register that said, "Would you fly in a plane made by Huffy?" If…

Fair Warning! I started out riding my kids' old bike about 7 years ago. I enjoyed it. Just riding it around the neighborhood. Then I wanted to get my own. So I bought a Huffy. I thought I was really something when I rode it 8 miles in one day...not all at one time, mind you. I started riding it around to do errands, and…

We are supposed to be getting a recycling can from the waste management company soon. I am assuming that I can put them in there. I miss paper bags.

Have mercy! Between this and the Nathan Fillion one, I need a shower!

Thinking about windsurfing in the front of my mind and a nap in the back of my mind.

Updating: 14 miles on Wednesday (got a flat and couldn't finish) 73 miles on Sunday 4/28 I will finish out the 300 tomorrow. I'm good with that. I had a lot of days where I simply could not ride this month. Frustrating.
-
Updating. Another 20 miles. I probably won't hit 400, but 300 is looking doable.
-
Well this was disappointing.

Thanks! We do 60 mile metric century rides about once a month. He's angling for one of those. I think he's got some time before he's ready, but not as long as I was expecting. He knocked out that 17 miles fairly easily.

Added 17.2 miles today, biking with my 6 year old grandson on his first long distance bike ride. Not bad for a little guy.
-
Waaaaay behind on my mileage due to illness and lousy weather, but I got a glorious ride in today. I'm hoping to at least make 300 this month. 10 miles last week, donking around with my grandson. 50 miles today.
-
I'm impressed. By all of you. I'm not that clever. But very amused.
-
This is NOT going well. Weather is going to be hideous this weekend. I may miss my goal for the first time. Unless things clear up later and I put in some major mileage when it does.
-
I take my grandkids and they love it. They were 3 and 5 last year. I also took my two year old great niece. She ran for a mile without stopping! Its just a fun time. [/URL]

Bah! So far behind schedule. Between being sick and then having 20 mph winds for days, I'm about 72 miles behind schedule.
-
My Trek bicycle. I ride anywhere from 200 to 400 miles a month.

I know he's probably your baby and very sweet, but that is a SCARY picture! Looks demonic! If I woke up and saw that looking down at me I'd probably wet the bed!
