  • There aren’t medical guidelines to how much to cut down but you need to get your BMI up. Make sure you are having enough fats in your diet and I would start with halving your exercise. You are at risk of osteoporosis from low BMI and oestrogen so up your calcium intake and think about using the combined pill to give you…
  • I'm 5'7. Current weight 154. Target weight 140 to begin with, then maybe 130 depending on how I look and feel. I'm not very curvy so figure I should be aiming for the lower end of normal BMI ultimately.
  • I do. This is baby number 3 for me and I used disposables for the first two, honestly don't notice that much difference even though we're now weaning.
  • Hi, I've sent you a message. I had a little boy 10 weeks ago. I joined here in 2010, lost 20lb, got pregnant. Sadly had a miscarriage and gained all the weight back. Started again, lost 15lb, fell pregnant again and now have a gorgeous little boy but need to lose those pesky pounds for a 3rd time!

  • Hi. I think it helps as you burn more calories but you still have to watch what you eat. I find I'm hungry all the time, and I tend to eat when I'm tired too so after losing the first 10kg I've been stuck for the last 5 weeks.
  • Well done. You can see a massive difference
  • I would be thinking about exercise induced asthma with that history. See your doctor and maybe try an inhaler
  • Tesco have a set of adjustable weights, just the bar is 1kg, then they have a 0.5kg.1kg and 2kg weights to add on. I use them with the 0/5kg weights on for 30DS and go higher for free exercises. They are a bit more expensive than the girly ones but worth it for a variation you get, and later you can buy more/higher weights…
  • Well done on dusting yourself off and trying again. Like the weight loss journey stopping smoking depends on your mindset and not giving up everything just because you've lapsed. I'm an ex-smoker and tried several times before I finally knocked it on the head. When I finally managed it it was with the help of Alan Carr's…
  • Can't say they do it for me. I like a man who's strong but don't want a rock hard body that can't be snuggled up to! The best thing about my husband is his big strong arms and broad broad shoulders, makes being hugged by him feel like the safest place in the world, Can't say I'd like it if he had a flatter stomach than me…
  • I used to have mine fully public and it never got commented on. As I've had a bit of a rocky few months and been on and off here a few times I started to get self conscious about it so made everything private. The only way I am going to succeed in this journey is if I am doing it for me, so I'm planning on keeping it this…
  • Ha ha! Love it!
  • Well done on rejoining. I was on here last summer, lost 17lb. Then in November found out I was pregnant so lapsed completely but had a missed miscarriage at 13/40. After that I pretty much lost all motivation for a while and got seriously depressed. I've now been back on here for 40 days and have relost 7 of the 12 pounds…
  • I think it's just a slightly different section and is showing part of the cerebellum, don't take that for granted though it's beena long time since my neuroanatomy days! What I think is significant is the same size lungs struggling against all that visceral and peripheral fat, no wonder exercise is so much harder when…
  • Your family sound emotionally abusive. Comments like that aren't just cruel and selfish but are designed to plummet your self esteem and knock you back. Please do not listen to them, if you feel strong enough (probably not 'cos hearing stuff like that all the time makes your crave their acceptance) cut them out of your…
  • I've seen it in most supermarkets, either in the 'whole foods' section or with dried beans/lentils generally wherever you'd find couscous you'll find it
  • So a pocketbook is a purse, I always imagined it was something like a Filofax! Nightstick =truncheon (not really relevant to MFP though)
  • Loking at your signature you mention hot flashes, so I assume you are menopausal, and most of those symptoms could be attributed to the menopause too. As oestrogen levels drop you weight pattern changes from the female hourglass deposition type to the male central, or apple shape. It would also explain the night waking and…
  • Hmmm... I'm just back on here for the first time since November. I spent the first few weeks of this year in a pretty low place having miscarried at 13/40 and have just started feeling ready to stop feeling sorry for myself and get back into gear. I don't have a lot of friends on here and most of them are real life…
  • I like the Adidas miCoach. It's free and love that it links in the the GPS to give a map, run times and can play music from my iTunes account too.
  • Don't have too much tea as well as it blocks iron absorption. Red meats and fortified breakfast cereals are all good sources of iron too.
  • If you are in London you can attend one of the Rape Crisis Centres. These are fantastic facillities with very kind female nurses and doctors. They can talk you through your options regarding testing, treatments and offer counselling. They are free but not connected to your GP and no-one needs to know you have been. It…
  • A doctor is only really good if you think you have a cartilage tear or arthritis both of which sound unlikely from how you describe it. I would be worth your while to see a physio for a thorough assessment and advice on the best exercises to strengthen your knee.
  • I don't mean to sound harsh (well maybe I do!) but those aren't obstacles, those sound awfully like excuses to me. The reason I've gained weight over the last few years is by telling myself exactly those same excuses and I've realised I'm letting myself down. You CAN eat healthily on a budget, you CAN find the time and a…
  • Wai t for a f ew days but if it persists see a physio. The most likely cause of that kind of pain is patello-femoral maltracking but responds really well to the right kind of quads exercises
  • I have two boys aged 5 and 7, work full time and have a husband who's 6000 miles away half the year so gym membership is out for me! I take the boys for walks and go out on their bikes, have joined a karate class with them now they are old enough and do exercise DVDs when I have the energy at the end of the day (which is…
  • Great post and so true. You can apply this to so many things, stopping overeating/drinking/smoking or any other negative behaviours.
  • Mine is open but feel free to add me
