  • Just found out, April 29th! Looking forward to hanging out with you all! Hopefully all will go well as I have had a loss previously.
  • bump. I've wondered this myself.
  • bump! they look great, thanks!
  • Good to hear! I hope you're OK and simply need mobility work :) Good luck!
  • No, I didn't have back pain at all. I was quite surprised to find out about my disc problem. I had been previously diagnosed by a PT with piriformis syndrome and was working on that but getting worse. Looking back, I should have started with an orthopedic evaluation, that would have saved me a lot of time, effort and pain.
  • Hi! Sorry about your pain. Dealing with a chronic thing is very disheartening. Your post stuck out for me, as I was having hip pain myself and finally went to see a doctor about it. I was directed to an orthopaedic clinic and found out I have one herniated disc and one bulging disc. I let my problem go on far too long…
  • I  you, ZoeLifts.
  • Tagging, I'm in a similar boat.
  • Hey ladies (and new gals!). I'm so so far behind here, but I just wanted to say hello! Great job on organizing the new star challenge, Beeps! I'm looking forward to joining next week. I've had a lot of "events" again, which always dereail my eating - but I should be back on track for the next round :) Anyhow, keep going…
  • Strength training and enough protein will be the key to maintaining what muscle you do have and losing fat.
  • What's your non-exercise activity like? What's your average day look like, activity wise (i.e. active on your feet job, or desk job...household chores...chasing kids...) It sounds like you work out quite a bit, which ups your TDEE, but it would be helpful to know how active you are otherwise. Also - I say this a lot,…
  • Do you have a food scale? I have a similar story to your's....eating at 1500, not losing anything. Once upon a time I ate at 1200 and lost about 8 lbs. After a month of eating at 1500 and not getting anywhere, I got a food scale. Turned out I was eating more like 1700-1800, maintenance! Makes sense. Once I started actually…
  • Hey everyone! I've been MIA too - we're getting really busy on the farm, spring is in the air! I've been reading along with you all and trying to keep up as much as I can, even if I don't have time to comment to everyone. Sounds like some of us are going strong (woo!) and some of us are losing a little steam....but hang in…
  • I just DO! I make a plan and follow it. When you don't have much to lose, dropping a few pounds in a few months is good progress. It's SLOW but it's real and sustainable. Get your diet in check, that's going to be your most important part of this now.
  • I shoot a lot, and hunt (archery too) and own a lot of guns. Ammo prices are insane here as well. My favorite plinking around gun is my .17. I like my .204 and .223 for shooting/coyote hunting too. This year I hunted big game with a .300 win mag and I really enjoyed that.
  • Eat up, they're good for you! Keep in mind when choosing at grocery store and recording in your food diary that yams and sweet potatoes are not equal in nutritional content: Yam, raw, 100g = 118 cals, 28 g carbs. Sweet potato, raw, 100 g = 86 cals, 20 g carbs. (FWIW, I always choose yams, because I love them - and record…
  • Hey ladies! Catching up....loving all the great energy in here right now :) Amy - Welcome back! Glad you had a good vacation. Your post comes right on time for me...I've been really focused on the scale/mirror goals lately. (Probably some of my obsession is that I don't *have* a scale right now, ha). I do find that when I…
  • Honestly, unless you have a reason to monitor sugar intake levels (pre-diabetic), don't even worry about it. Obviously that's not a pass to eat a bunch of sugary junk food. As long as you're eating a balanced diet that includes fruits in moderation, the natural levels of sugar in real food aren't something to worry about!
  • This. A belly dancer and a figure competitor (in other words, the super tanned, super lean women flexing in bikinis on stage) might have the same exact muscle mass. One has a higher level of bodyfat, one has a very low level of bodyfat. The figure competitor might look just like your belly dancer image in the off season.
  • Besides the numerous health benefits that have already been discussed.... It just makes me feel like a total bad-a**. That's reason enough right there.
  • QFT! Repeat, over and over. "I'm not at my goal yet" does NOT mean "there's something wrong with me." It's ok to be a work in progress. Even fitness models have times of higher and lower bodyfat. That doesn't make them failures when they're on the higher end. It makes them human.
  • Hey ladies! I agree, the hangover was not worth it. That's what I'm telling myself this morning. UGH! I hate drinking, I just don't want to anymore. Haha. For me any amount I drink will make me feel bad, but I still do it to be social. *sigh* I did pretty well all last week. Even had my Valentine's dinner all fit in…
  • I sear & steam them. Add halved sprouts to a HOT skillet with a little oil of your choice. Put them cut side down to get a little color, as browned as you like. Add seasoning of your choice (I like lemon pepper) - but beware, you pan will start to smoke with the seasoning, if it hasn't already, so get ready to do the next…
  • Ris - Frozen greek yogurt sounds good. I've never seen it in the store, do you make it yourself or buy it? Beeps - I'm not diabetic, but I am hypoglycemic so I go crashing too low (and get super HANGRY, dizzy, shaky) without evenly spaced meals. Good luck on your new job prospect!
  • Beeps, I'm so impressed by you skipping even a bite of dessert! Amy, Hangry! I use it all the time. And I get hangry a lot if I'm behind on a mealtime, haha. I can't do the IF thing. Maybe I could skip breakfast sometimes, and sometimes I won't eat lunch until 2 or later. When I miss meals it's cause I'm really busy - but…
  • I've noticed that when I check the scale and see progress in the right direction, I immediately give myself permission to back off my goals and start justifying food choices that I wouldn't normally go for otherwise. I did good these last two weeks, and I am down a pound which is right what I expected to be - but then I…
  • Maybe I'll give up the scale for Lent. I spend a lot of energy focusing on it that could be put to a positive use elsewhere. Hmmm. As it is I'm not supposed to get on it again for another two weeks, so I have a minute to decide if I'll commit to it, even though Lent starts today, ha! I've always tried to be more focused on…
