  • Well done!
  • The protein bars from the supermarket are yuck! Optifast bars are actually quite nice, you can order from the website or get them from Priceline (in Australia) or the Chemist Warehouse. You can drop the Dinner shake and have a protein and salad instead and no you are not doing any damage by doing that. If you are feeling…
  • I'm in... September 1... 240.8 lbs Today: 14th Sept... 235.8 lbs yippee ... made it 5 lbs down. With 2 weeks left in the month, anymore is a real bonus! :D
  • I'm in... September 1... 240.8 lbs
  • I'm in :) Tomorrow (1st) I'll post my "starting" weight. Good luck everyone and Happy Losing :D
  • For me... it's all the same. So long as your diet is high protein to protect your muscles, nails and hair (at least 65 gm per day), low sodium (to stop your body for retaining fluid), drink at least 2 litres 64 oz per day, low carb (100 gm approx - your brain still needs some "good" carbs to function) and low fat. So long…
  • Protein should be minimum 65gm daily!
  • Hi bunchesonothing... your opinion is based on your research... that's fine. I'm on forums where people have had this surgery 10 years ago and they are still eating the same way as I've explained!! They are not unhealthy, they are not wasting away, they are trim, looking fantastic and are healthy, and most importantly,…

  • I'm 5'7", HW: 270 lbs; CW: 242.6 lbs; GW: 135 lbs I'm following a similar plan presented to folks who have had weight loss surgery. It's easy once you modify it to suit, but the gist of it is: Low Calorie (800-1000), Low Fat, Low Carb, High Protein, Low Sodium. I match my eating calories with my exercise calories and since…

  • alibreasy is right!! Your carb intake is 105 gm over it's maximum. And you need to be drinking at least 2 litres of liquid per day.
  • Most days my plan is... High protein, low carb, low fat, low sugar (sugar free in drinks), low sodium. Every day, even if I've gone outside the plan, I match my eating calories with my exercise calories ( I have over 100 lbs to lose still ) and so far I'm 3 lbs away from losing 30 lbs in 3 months and still counting.
  • No I don't eat them. I've got over 100 lbs to lose so what I'm doing is working for me, it may work for you. I match my eating calories with my exercise calories. No matter what my eating calories are for the day, I track every time I eat, I will then match with exercise. My main exercise is the exercise bike. 10 minutes…
  • powerballad... how's your daily protein. It's my understanding that increasing this helps to lessen the hair loss. Remember it needs to be minimum 65 gm per day. Your body doesn't "know" how it gets it... liquid or food, so long as it gets it.
  • I haven't had the surger but after doing loads of reading and research, I'm following the wls plan. I'm what you'd call a non-op. I'm on another forum where a lady started to follow the plan pre-surgery so her body wouldn't go into the shock of it all and she ended up losing 40 lbs when her doctor said no and cancelled her…
  • I'm the same height as you and I think that 130 lbs may be your body's "meant to be/ natural" weight. That's probably why you keep returning to that weight. It's interesting that you've put your weight as being 130 lbs, because I'm still over 100 lbs overweight and I put 135 lbs as my goal weight, which I thought might be…

  • No prob. I'm sure you will find what will work for you. I'm currently 113 lbs overweight and am 3 lbs off losing 30 lbs in 3 months, so far equalling 10 lbs every month, and I'm still losing weight and the month is not over yet! What is working for me is matching my eating calories with my exercise calories. That's it.…
  • cvcman, are you overweight or just needing to lose a few pounds. Your critical response then tells me your not that much overweight, like I am, so your calculations will need to be different. BTW... my info is from doctors and nutritionists only!! I can only give you another way of looking at your situation, nicely, it's…
  • If you're gaining weight, you're consuming more calories than you're burning. You are eating more calories than your exercise calories. Become a knowledgeable consumer and check those nutritional labels on food packaging. Become aware of the calories per gram of different foods to be aware of "the cost" of each gram. If…
  • Yes it is possible and doable, providing you are absolutely prepared to 1. watch and keep a tally on what you eat and the amount of calories you eat and 2. match your eating calories with your exercise calories. No 2. will create a calorie deficit which you need to lose the weight. Don't eat your exercise calories.
  • You do need a calorie deficit to lose weight. If you've got enough fat on you, then you can tell your body to take from that rather than your muscle... match your eating calories with your exercise calories and keep your eating plan high protein, low sodium. Starvation mode is a myth! People who have Weight Loss Surgery…
  • I think it does... Yesterday morning I was up early, after only having 5 hours sleep, to take my young kids to school, weighed in @ 250.8 lbs. I came back home and crawled back into bed for another couple of hours. I weighed myself again after those two extra hours sleep and weighed 250 lbs, I'd lost 800 grams! And that…
  • Can you change your eating times to later? ie... breakfast in late morning instead of early morning, and so on. This may help.
  • You need a calorie deficit to lose weight.
  • Good luck with your operation and hope you have a speedy recovery. For your body to get the message to use up it's fat stores (while you sleep) you need to send it the message it's only going to use what it has in reserve, you need to create a calorie deficit. This is matching the amount of calories you eat with the amount…
  • No... pp67's advice is not VERY wrong, just different to Amo_Angelus's. That's ok and am not bothered that there are a lot of people who may not agree with or approve of what I write. It ís, afterall, my opinion that I write. I have been doing a lot of reading up on WLS and what happens to folks after they've had it, their…
  • It won't hurt. You're the same height as me and your #2 goal is 5 lbs above mine :D I've been doing loads of research on Weight Loss Surgery and have found their particluar diet plan (once they are past their liquids phase) that absolutely works for weightloss and throws that Starvation Mode out the window. I'm not going…
