  • Everyone is going to hate me. I'm honestly just trying to be helpful. It depends. Soaked gray sweats might be a liability. Dripping sweat in form fitting, moisture wicking clothes, seriously hot. There is nothing wrong with trying to maximize your appearance while working out as long as it doesn't hurt the workout. A…
  • I could care less that a mother breast feeds a 3 year old, even in public. The picture creeps me out a bit, but that's just because of the way it's posed. My adult male brain sees a sexy woman with breasts, but what the heck is that kid doing there? But the kid just sees where he gets healthy nourishment. We as adults are…
  • Hope this picture posting works... I'm usually tired (after sprint tri)... ...or hungry (after a little under 8 hours 70.3)
  • If you think about how much estimating we do for calories, its well under any rounding error. I swam 31.5 minutes today and it estimates I burned 387 calories, but it could easily have been 350 to 400. When I eat peanuts it says a serving is 35, but they are different sizes, so that's an estimate as well. I'm listed as…
  • I have the Iron Gym one and its been fine even in my cheaply built house. If the pads that rest on the door moulding got damaged then I bet the bar would create indentions. The good thing about this one is that the weight is dristibuted between the moulding backed up by the door frame on the front side and the wall above…
  • You're probably right about the lack of muscle being the difference. I suspect I will have similar difficulty getting rid of my gut. This plan may work for you, but I think I'm going to rethink my plan based on how low you have had to go and how much muscle you had to lose. I had thought I could drop to 160 and see a…
  • I use a Garmin Forerunner 301 or 305 and it works very well. I like it because I don't have to stick to premeasured routes if I want to know how far I've gone. Technically, if I get lost I can retrace my steps with the GPS. I can setup intervals ahead of time so it will have a beeping warning as the interval start…
  • How are you measuring your body fat %? If I'm reading the thread right, it looks like you ar just over 6' tall, 157lbs, and ...23% body fat? Something seems off. My scale at home claims my bf% is 26%, but a recent caliper test shows 17.6%. So it could be dangerous if you are working from an inccorrect bf% measurement.
  • I've given up soda in the past, but I'm just not ready to do it again. I drink 6oz of regular soda in the morning and another 6 at lunch and that seems to satisfy me without blowing my calories. Although it still blows my sugar. I could switch to my little 2oz Coke glass, but my coworkers already make fun of my 6oz one and…
  • I can tell you that 6 years of triathlons up to a half iron-distance won't do it. :grumble: Given your reluctance (which I share) to dramatic dieting, your time would be better spent working to earn some extra money to pay off your bet.
  • C9 lined running shorts work for me and they're cheap. I did a marathon in them with no problem, although I might have added body glide as insurance. I use aquaphor for biking now, so if I ran long I'd probably use that. If you do get chaffed, Desitin (or other baby diaper rash cream) works miracles. We keep having kids,…
  • I weigh daily, but I'm not focused on hitting a certain number on the scale, I want a certain number on the measuring tape, so the scale just tells me how well I'm measuring or estimating portions. I notice that I fluctuate, but its in a generally downward trend. Weighing once a month would put too much pressure on that…
  • Haha! That reminds me, my oldest also tore my wife's cervix during child birth. He got started 1st thing.
  • Throwing a rock in a parking lot an hitting someone's car, scribbling on ours and a neighbors car with a rock, ipod touch. Still, as someone else said, the worst (not just because its the most expensive) his ER visits. I can only think of swallowing a paper clip and busting his eyebrow on a trampoline. When he busted his…
  • Unless you are a stay at home ...fiance, he should make his own lunch. My wife stays home and I still usually make my own. That said, it is possible he forgot, but it's still really messed up that he forgot with such a nice lunch. There are days we get to work and discover we need to go out for a business lunch. If my wife…
  • There are all kinds of deep, meaningful reasons I love my wife. But this asked about "turn-on", so my shallow answer is the dimples that peak out the top of a bikini bottom on each side of a woman's stomach.
  • For what you want you need a hybrid. It'll look pretty much like a mountain bike but have smooth, higher preassure, but still wide tires. Or I suppose a beach cruiser could be fun. My commuter bike is a Trek hybrid, but you'd have to find a used one for that price point. The suspension seat is a nice bonus. You may get…
  • Depends on how far you're running and what options you have for refilling. I have a 3 liter reservoir I use for hiking and camping, but I can't see me neding that for many runs. My usual choice now that I'm back to very short runs is to run a couple laps and have leave my water bottle on the driveway to grab a little. I…
  • I can smell the donuts from here....
  • Switching to basing your workouts on time is a great idea. I thought most c 2 5k plans were time based. Slowing down is also good. But how about moving on to week 5? When are the rest weeks? Was week 3 a rest week? It should be progressively harder for a couple weeks and then you'll reach a rest week where your body…
  • You need to add body fat. Eat good nutritious food, but run a bit of a calorie surplus to add some body fat slowly. If you lose fat or gain muscle alone, your body fat % will slide back down when it needs to come up about another percentage point. Good luck and make sure you only listen to people with your best interest at…
  • Defintitely walk. That takes parking out of things that could take longer than planned. If you have your packet, and don't need to pickup a timing chip, just get there with 10 minutes to spare.
  • Don't get so hung up on the number on the scale. I get that you want to look your best for your wedding, but the number on the scale doesn't determine that. I suspect (if he is worht anything) that your fiance would rather you healthy for the rest of your lives together than being some specific weight on your wedding day.…
