  • Sounds like they just don't heal completely and you turn ever so slightly and re-injure them. I have been looking into muscle tape for a strain calf muscle there are a lot of how to apply videos on YouTube.
  • I would suggest purchasing your shoes online there are several stores / companies that offer a 15-30 trial no questions asked return policy. That way you can try them multiple times with various activities before you commit.

  • I have been lucky with Nike, I know they get a bad rap sometimes but I have had 2 pairs of Nike ($75) and 1 pair of Ascis ($150) and I alternate between them and I must say I look forward to my run days with the Nike's. I don't have the joy of having a good running shoe store near me so I just do a lot of research…
  • Thats so funny because I made spagetti squash with an "Asian" flare last night! I sauteed some veggies, put in some leftover grilled chicken, added some peanut sauce and the spagetti squash noodles ~ it was GREAT!
  • I'm somewhat of a new runner myself and I had to laugh when reading your story, because I had no clue there was a "right" way to run either. But I can only imagine when you were out there trying to put all the new forms into place while just trying to run I bet you felt and looked awkard. I know I would have!! That's why I…
  • I did SBD several years ago and lost 45lbs - fast. However it was not a lifestyle I could maintain forever so I ended up putting the weight back on plus some slowly over a year. I enjoy my carbs too much, if you can live without them then good luck to you on it but is just wasn't for me.
  • i always get so stressed out when ordering from Starbucks. I don't know what half the things are and if I want it soy, skinny, iced, hot, grande, tall, etc... my head starts spinning and I just order whatever the person with me gets! Needless to say I don't go often but it is always very tempting when I go shopping.
  • I did it a few years ago and lost 40lbs - QUICK. However I love carbs and it was not a long term lifestyle I could live with. Once I started eating "normal" again I put the weight back on. It took a year to put back but I added it plus some. It depends on you if you are a carb lover than I don't recommend it for you but if…
  • I havent tried them yet but I was thinking about getting some smartwool socks. I have worn them in the past just for casual wear and they are toasty! My arm band hasn't snagged my UA base layer tops so I think you will be OK there. I plan on wearing the same shoes as usual just warmer socks. Once you get going I think it…
  • I drink at least 2 diet cokes daily, I have lost 57lbs and still going. I dont drink coffee or any adult beverages so I say if it is the only "bad" drink I have than so be it. I have altered so many other eating / drinking habits in my life at this point I still need my diet coke fix, maybe once my journey is complete and…
  • I'm not sure of your starting weight but mine was 210 and I'm 5'3". I started with the Couch 2 5K app on my phone. I also would only run at night because I didn't want anyone to see me. Once I completed the program I was still not able to run a 5K becasue the program I used works more on time than distance. However I…
  • I'm usually right at 1200 cal a day and I eat real food, healthy food. I have noticed some of the people on here may stay under 1200 cal a day but they are not eating meals, I don't consider a pack of crackers a meal. Feel free to view my diary.
  • I wanna play too! I don't kmow if I have 18lbs left to loose but I will give it my all and promise to help others as well.
  • I posted a simular question a few weeks ago. I have lost 53lbs and a somewhat short amount of time, however I am very strict with my 1200 cal diet and I exercise regulary. My hair dresser said it never fails when a client looses a bunch of weight they also start loosing hair. She believes it is a hormone thing that comes…
  • I agree that it should not define you and that it can vary greatly depending on several things. However for me it is a wonderful thing to be able to say I bought a pair of size 8 jeans and they fit! Becasue when I was a tight size 16 that was not a fun size to brag about. I know that not every pair of size 8 pants will fit…
  • I also have the Polar and use it during every workout. I convienced myself I had to have one to track my calories to the T but in reality I didn't REALLY need it. I don't usually eat all my exercise calories so being completely accurate isn't really a must. However if you do tract every calorie and want to be sure your not…

  • If you doing the C25K put that baby in a jogging stroller and go! It will also tone your arms. If you are in an area where its getting to cold for the baby outside then if there are stairs then walk up and down several times, lunges across the room and back, have the baby sit on your back and do push ups, get creative.
  • I was using Map My Run but the timing and distance was never accurate, I have switch to RunKeeper and it seems to be working great plus it tells me every 5 minutes my distance and average mile time. When I was first starting out I used GetRunning a C25K app and I loved it. I now run 4-5 miles every other day sometimes…
  • I had progresso loaded potato soup (the low calorie one it's 100 cal per serving and I eat the whole can so it was 200cal) with a 60 cal pita toasted with parm cheese sprinkled on top. the whole meal was 285 calories and I was full till late afternoon.
  • I don't weigh but once a month (sometimes I go even longer) becaue I would much rather see a 3lb loss in a month than a 0.5lb loss in a week. When I'm feeling down I remember why I wanted to start this process in the first place and that usually helps. You also need to understand this is a lifestyle change not a diet, so…
  • 17yo daughter - Clothes, Mark Jacobs watch ($275), North Face jacket, shoes 12yo son - Xbox games, Wii games, cell phone (ugh), LSU anything and everything, 3yo son - Vtech innotab 2, innotab games, action figures, super hero ANYTHING My oldest and youngest birthdays are in Nov so it has gotten very expensive during this…
  • I also play softball but I don't track it. I consider it a bonus or fun activity. I would still do my own cardio on top of the softball game becasue as you said you do quite a bit of standing / sitting. Just think how much faster you will run the bases when you hit your goal weight! Have fun and good luck!
  • I have had a stomach bug this past week so I dont usually go as low on my calorie intake as this past week. I just haven't been able to eat a lot.
  • YES it will streak! You need to wait a day before doing any sweating. Even with that my daughter got sprayed last spring and she was playing soccer so wearing the shin guards caused the tan to also rub off and that area. So I think spray tans are fine for someone needing a quick fix for a pagent, prom or special event but…
  • I agree that you need to eat later, if your hungry at 6 then have a small snack to keep you full till dinner maybe 8ish?? Or go for a walk at 6 then when your done you can come back and fix dinner plus you will have those extra exercise calories to have a "treat" after dinner! My current favorite dessart is fat free cool…
  • I don't own a scale because I know I would obsess over it and get very discouraged if I didn't like what it said. I only weight when I go to my parents house 2.5 hours away becasue that was the 1st place I weighed when I started this journey. So I figure to be accurate I would just keep only using their scale. Sometime I…
  • Log everything, move daily! Remember its a lifestyle change so make it a change you are willing to live like forever. Don't have cheat days just plan whatever your are wanting into your day. Don't deprive yourself of things you love (again just plan for them). If you have a bad day don't turn it into a bad week or month,…
