  • I love to cook a roast beef in the crock pot. So easy and falls apart. On the bottom, I put onions, halved potatoes, and carrots. Beef Roast. Onion Soup mix. Cook on low all day. Delicious. I like to cook chicken in the crock pot with salsa -- I wonder if you could do so with beef? I also love a good hamburger soup -- I…
  • Hi everyone, My name is Jen, working mom of three kids (ages 19, 16, and 12). As I get closer to 50 and am feeling the aches and pains of my late 40's, I'm here to manage my weight in order to support my body and health. Honestly, I want to lose weight because I want to manage my life differently. I've been a person who…
  • Hi everyone! I'm Jen, 48 year old Mom of three kids (ages 19, 16, 12). Six years ago, after staying home with my kids for over 10 years, I decided to return to my career -- I'm a Teacher Librarian (library media specialist in my state) in an elementary school. To prove myself (mainly to myself), I threw myself into my…
  • Hi everyone, Feel free to add me if you would like more friends. I'm 48 (for one more month), mom of three kids (12, 16, and 19). I've determined that having one place to focus on weight loss can help me, and MFP seems like the place I should be. Add me if you would like to connect. Trying to move my body everyday and eat…
  • Joining this challenge in the middle of May. After I get home from work and change my clothes, I will walk my dog. A daily walk would do us both good and it's very doable this time of year. I'm posting here so I commit and will post back again. Glad to be here with you all.
  • I can use all the support I can get, so please add me as a friend. I'm 48 years old. Over the last two years, I've gained 50 lbs. With the start of a new job this fall, I've used food as my main source of entertainment. I'm here to lose this weight and live differently, developing new habits that support a healthier way of…
  • 48, working mom of three. I've gained 50 lbs these last two years, and I'm here to do the work to figure out how to lose and maintain. Learning to live life where food isn't my relaxation and entertainment. I've dabbled in strength training in the past, but it has never been my focus. I think this group could really…
  • Hi Angela, I'm in my late 40's with three kiddos. I can relate to the high weight being close to pregnancy weight -- that's me now as well. Life is full with work and family. I've used food, overeating, dining out, as my main form of relaxation and entertainment. Time to change gears. That's why I'm here. Glad to be here…
  • Hi Reen, I'm in the same spot as you. I thought about using a dietician, but haven't yet. But I'm still here trying to figure this out. Still learning still open. That's a good place to be. Let me know if you want to be friends on here. All the support helps!
  • I totally relate to what you are saying! Glad you are here. I'm scared too, but I'm trying too.
  • Thanks--I had no idea that sharing the recipe made a difference. I will try that!:)
  • Exactly--I am losing for the last time so that I can live a healthy life for as long as I can. I want to be strong and active for myself and family. I'm not doing this short term, and I'm no doing this just to get to my goal and then stop. It's about making the choice now and for every day of my life. I also so agree and…
  • I hear you! I'm ready to move in the right direction! Good luck!
  • I'm doing it again too--for the last time! Add me if you would like a positive, active friend!
  • I too love the positive energy and support that can be found here on MFP. Add me if you would like a new friend.
  • Awesome that you maintained your weight loss! You are doing it! I too am trying to focus on whole foods too. Doing it all with three kids is sometimes hard, but I know it's for them too. Good luck as you keep going!
  • I'm right there with you--better to start now. I'm done waiting! Good luck!
  • I think it's called a ticker (but not sure). When you are in the message boards, there is a link to "settings" (Not at the way top but under the message boards title). In those settings there is a box to check to show your ticker -- I think that's what you are asking about. If not message me, and I can try again!:)
  • Cracking up over all this kale talk! LOL!:)
  • Lots of great advice. If I were you, I would try to focus on food quality instead of calorie restriction. And water, water, water!:)
  • Lately I've been focusing on my sugar intake and processed foods. I know that when I eat more whole foods and less sugar and processed foods, my cravings are more in check. Lately, my sugar contact has been higher, and I'm trying to get back on track. I'm hoping that a week or two of whole foods eating will help me keep…
  • On eating nuts in moderation, my husband read somewhere that drinking lots of water while eating almonds actually makes the almonds expand in your stomach and you feel really full. Now as I actually write that, doesn't seem like it really happens, but who knows. And I know when I drink lots of water in between each nut, I…
  • Yes to hummus--I love love love it--which is a problem too. I just made cucumber crackers with hummus as the spread--so good. Since there isn't a great substitute, perhaps coming up with some other foods that add richness or texture. I'm thinking perhaps using more chopped nuts sparingly as one idea. Still thinking about…
  • I love this idea! Love love love it! Today, I had the idea to use lettuce to wrap my sandwich rather than bread, because I don't even really like the bread. It was so good! Going to do this more! Sometimes the most simple ideas are the best ones! Thanks for sharing!
