  • Back from Vegas and back to 141 lbs. Last wk 143.6 CW 141.4 GW 130 And the season of food is upon us. Thanksgiving feast this week and then Christmas and other parties will start. I've already signed up for cookie exchange on the 9th and pot luck on 16th at work. I don't need 5 dozen cookies, but can't resist sharing in…
  • I gained this week. Last wk 141.2 CW 143.6 GW 130 Going to Vegas this week. I expect to eat, drink, and be merry. With lots of walking I hope to keep any further gain to a minimum. :drinker: :drinker: congrats on breaking 160s!
  • I wasn't expecting to lose this week. But, I still did. Not quite a whole pound. I'm feeling really good in the low 140s. My clothes fit comfortably. Last wk 142.0 CW 141.2 GW 130 Good luck everyone!
  • Success! I hope you were successful, too! I didn't gain from Halloween candy, even though my husband insisted on buying a couple bags of candy 'just in case'. No kids showed up so we have lots of candy for me to take to work tomorrow to share with my co-workers. Last wk 143.0 CW 142.0 GW 130 I lost a whole pound!!…
  • I'm just checking in to see how you did. Congrats on breaking your barrier, Constance. :drinker:  I don't have kids so Halloween candy isn't a problem here. I went bowling tonight without hurting myself. I'm hoping to drop a pound, but will be okay if I just maintain.
  • I slept in and still get to post first on this thread. Needed to put off weigh in after eating a candy bar or two this week. Not logging my food and exercise. Didn't do any extra exercise this week, since I'm giving my hamstring some time to rest. Still managed to lose a few tenths of a pound. Last wk 143.4 CW 143.0 GW 130…
  • Well, I haven't been logging my food and exercise for about a week and a half, but I'm still losing. Despite not logging I'm still trying to control portions and get regular exercise. This site has been valuable in teaching me what my body needs and I love reading the motivational posts. Last wk 144.2 CW 143.4 GW 130 I…
  • I joined at the end of June, but went on vacation the first week of July. Since then I've lost about 14 lbs (not counting the ones I gained back and re-lost  ) I  MFP!! Logging my food has helped me control my portions and going over my calories encourages me to exercise to offset. Best of luck to you!
  • I'm with BrenNew. It's gotta be fun or I won't do it. That said, I did buy a jump rope. It's not fun, but it's fast! I can usually make myself go out in the garage and jump rope for 10 minutes. It's a good way to spend the time while I've got the t.v. paused so I can fast forward through the commercials as my 'reward' for…
  • Slow is the way to go. Last wk 144.6 CW 144.2 GW 130 Good for you, Jax, not using drugs to enhance your weight loss. My supervisor is out on leave. Just had the bariatric (sp?) surgery. He's a big guy with no health problems related to his weight. I was surprised his doctor agreed to the surgery. For me, weight loss is a…
  • I think my calorie deficit is only 435 and I've lost sloooowly, but that's my goal. Change my eating habits, not diet to drop weight only to gain it back when I go 'off' the diet. I was noticably hungry at first, but I've adjusted so that, with exercise, I can eat a little over 1200 calories a day and lose .8 lb a week.…
  • ditto, rtmama, moving forward: Like jules said, review what you've logged (hopefully, you've been logging). Think about the situations you've been in, what you ate, and why. How can you eat less in those situations in the future. I've lost 10 lbs, but it has taken 3 months. Over those three months I've learned to eat…
  • Last wk 145.2 CW 144.6 GW 130 I have a small loss. When I updated in Check-in I was prompted to recalculate my goals. (lost 10 lbs since starting MFP in July :drinker: ) I decided to change my goal weight to 130. For my ht/age my range is 111 - 147. I'm back in my range! And, optimistic that I can ultimately get to…
  • Good morning! Welcome back Vicky. I lost a whole pound. And now that my clothes are fitting loosely I checked my measurements. Not much difference in those numbers, but it feels good to have to hitch up my pants. Congrats, Jax, on beating that pound that was teasing you. And you got his brother. Last wk…
  • I know what you mean. I'm still fighting. Getting clearer skin should be an incentive (I have rosacea), but it doesn't make the water taste better. This website has been a big help in making some lifestyle changes. I suppose I'll give in and drink more water, eventually.
  • Baking soda. I have white counter tops. I shake a little baking soda (out of the box in the freezer or fridge) on the counters to whiten them. Also, use it on the tub/shower. (Well, now I have Merry Maids so they use whatever they want.) You can't hardly buy soap anymore that's not antibacterial.
  • Welcome! You can lose 30 lbs. I joined because my weight had been creeping up and a co-worker told me she lost 40lbs with this web site. I've only been on a few weeks and have lost half of my 20. It really helps to log your food before you eat (make/go get) it. Once you see the numbers you might want to make a healthier…
  • I stayed about the same. Not sure why I didn't lose. I even walked yesterday, twice! Musta under estimated calories on some food this week. It's better to eat home-made, but often I don't know what the calories are for the dish. Last wk 145.6 CW 146.2 GW 135
  • I'm pretty sedentary. Work a desk job. Walk on my break with three or four other ladies every work day at 10am and 3pm. I golf, but am looking for something else to do now that it's getting cold. (Michigan)
  • I love yoga! I took it for my PE class back in college. Won't say how long ago that's been, but I will say I miss Yoga Zone (from the '90's). It bounced around cable channels. Can you recommend any DVDs? I prefer to do yoga at home, not in a class.

  • Hi, and welcome to MFP! I love it here. I see you're going to weigh yourself on Sundays. You're welcome to join the Sunday Successes thread in Motivation topic area. A few of us post each Sunday.
  • Congrats on your 1 and 2 pound losses last week. I lost one this week and hope everyone else lost too. Last wk 146.6 CW 145.6 GW 135 I bought a jump rope last week. Boy, you can burn alot of calories in a short amount of time. But, I also learned to do some calve stretches before and after. Limped around on Monday - was…
  • I log what I eat. Then I'm motivated to exercise to 'earn' those extra calories. Even if it means exercise during my break. I agree with the others who say limit yourself to a small serving, but don't try to NOT eat any. You'll feel bad when you fail. With a small serving you can work it off with exercise and 'treat'…
  • Kudos to all who have given up soda. I was drinking at least 3 Cokes a day. I know that contributed to my weight gain, but it is sooooo haaaaard to give up. I was down to one a day, but lately I've crept up to two. Thanks for the inspiration to be strong and give it up.

  • Welcome!! You've come to the right place. There's lots of people here getting fit and eating healthy. I was shocked :noway: when I saw the numbers add up!! My first week I didn't change my eating habits, just logged. Boy! I've changed now. I've cut out some items, but finding it hard to give up others. In a few short weeks…

  • Welcome!! You've come to the right place!! I love it here and you will too. Logging your food and exercise is a real eye opener. :noway: Once I saw how many calories were in my fav foods I gave them up (hey, some were just plain evil) or limit them. I'm eating better and getting more exercise. Seeing the calories add up…
  • The ads keep this site free so I love them! But, I'm not buying anything. I clicked on the Jillian Michaels link, but can't bring myself to pay (even a measly 4 bucks/wk). At least she's honest, though. Don't believe any of these drink me, eat me, exercise with me and the pounds drop away like magic. It's hard work and…
  • bump Thanks for the great links!
  • Wow! You've lost 50 lbs over the past year!! Kudos to you. Relax today. You've made a lifestyle change and you'll be back to your 'normal' eating and exercise tomorrow.
  • Last wk 146.4 CW 146.6 GW 135 Virtually no change for me this week. I ate too much Friday night. Good luck to everyone. Sounds like you had a fun week, Jax. I need to find more to do. My golf league will be ending this month. I'm having a hard time thinking of something fun to do this winter. Something indoors. I have a…
