  • This. I thought of these things as well. I would like to kick my own butt for suggesting it, but is it possible to cut your hours in order to meet the income requirements for SNAP? I know it may be immoral, but I believe that there are situations in which immorality is justified, such as when kids are hungry. I apologize…
  • Do you have access to WIC for your littlest one? It wouldn't be much, but it would help. Have you considered making your own bread? The cheap bread at the store is a barren nutritional wasteland. Buying a jar of yeast and a bag of whole wheat flour would make a ton of bread that is much more nutritionally dense and more…
  • Of course not, silly! That's the whole point of my post. :) To clarify, I was going to take the shakes to work for lunch. I certainly would not use those in front of the kids.
  • [quote= You are getting burned out and are really just in survival mode. You can not do it all. If no one else in the family can step in to take over cooking, cleaning, child care, etc then just use convenience foods for now. It isn't lazy to use them when you have so much to do already. You won't be living like this…
  • Hey! OP here. In defense of my husband, he works upwards of 12 hours a day doing very phisical work. When he comes home, he falls on the couch, eats a quick dinner, and passes out. In fact, I only have about 1 good hour with him per day. I want to spend that hour interacting with him instrad of sending him to do laundry.…
  • Eating sugar starts a chain reaction of sugar cravings. I've got to go cold turkey on the sweets because I can't control myself around them.
  • I'm with you, OP. I have always hated exercising, but I only sit in the car for half an hour outside the gym. I am so tired all the time, but, rather than energizing me, exercising makes me more tired. I can't stay awake and I fall asleep in inappropriate situations. I can't offer advice, but I wanted to let you know that…
  • lol, you're totally right. don't have the temptation in the house in the first place. i suppose if i start there it would greatly decrease the opportunity to spin out of control. i guess i need to stop grocery shopping when hungry. [/quote] This, too. I always eat before going grocery shopping. I always stop by IHOP and…
  • I agree with this, but it doesn't work for me sometimes. I still end up eating baking products straight from the bag. My usual course is to either drink a cup of coffee, which not only fills me up but also makes my stomach hurt and makes me not want to eat (sad face) or I brush my teeth. I don't want to lose that clean…
  • I would like to suggest a substitution for "good" and "bad" foods. On a Sesame Street video my daughter has, they use the terms "sometimes food" and "anytime food." Those are the terms we use in our household. She is 7 years old and doesn't have an ED. Consequently, we can see that these are better than all other possible…
  • Addendum: My husband has to leave for his job immediately when I get home from work. He doesn't get back from work until after the gym is already closed. I don't have any other family around to watch her while I go to the gym.
  • Nobody has ever asked me if I was pregnant, but when they do, I'm prepared. Here is how it will go. S/He will say, "Are you pregnant? When are you due?" Then I'll say, "Nine months from tonight!" And then I'll thrust my hips forward while giving a double fist pump. I'll probably bite my lower lip, too. Can't wait.
  • I've dated a few guys who have said almost the same thing. "I've been with a lot of girls. Beautiful, BEAUTIFUL girls. If I wanted a beautiful girl, I'd be with them. But I don't want to be with a beautiful girl. I want you."
  • I do the same thing, but with big buckets of lard (5 lb) or pound packages of butter at the store. Since it's pure fat, it gives me a visual as well as physical sense of my change in size and weight. good tip, OP!
  • For me, 27. Hope that helps.
  • I plan my produce purchases this way--I buy the vegetables and stuff that I want, but I plan to use the things that go bad faster (lettuce, asparagus, eggplant, berries...) at the beginning of the week and then use the less perishable ones later (potatoes, zucchini, green peppers, plantains, uncut watermelon, apples...)…
  • I have photosensitivity. If I spend a lot of time in bright light, I get migraines and seizures. I am a teacher and I also wear lightly-tinted glasses in class and I bring them with me everywhere just in case I start having auras wherever I am. Glad to know we epileptics are creepy for other things besides merely being…
  • 1. Drink enough water every day (specific amount to be decided when I have a free moment 2. Get 5 fruits and vegetables in every day 3. Get in a 30-minute stationary bike ride before my daughter has swimming lessons 4. Get all these tests and essays graded and finish writing my paper for grad school (counts as mental…
  • Bump! Also, is it the oatmeal itself that increases milk production or is it the calorie increase?
  • When I was pregnant, I was sick the entire time and either threw up or couldn't eat at all. I logged a few days and only got 1000 calories or, on a good day,1500. I asked my OB if this was OK and she said that I should try to eat more, but as long as I was taking my multivitamins, it wasn't horrible horrible. I ended up…
  • Thank you for your constant support, Gram! You've been a great friend on here and you have done so well. I can learn a lot from you. More baby pics coming. :)
  • While my ex fiance was in Iraq, his mom and I got to know each other more. I could tell that she wanted some common ground between us so we could understand each other, so she kept bringing up the fact that she was also a "plus-sized bride." It was so hard for her to find a size 16 gown! I was about a size 20-22 at the…
  • Happy birthday, fellow Januarian. I turn 33 on the 24th. I also have one very small one living in my uterus that should be out in a week or so. I'm trying to lure her out with Italian food and Ritz crackers with tuna salad.
  • I'm with this person. I don't have bipolar disorder, but I take lamotrigine/lamictal for a seizure disorder. It has made my appetite go totally away and I've lost weight just from not wanting to eat. Food?! GAG! I have to choke down whatever nutrition I can get. On the other hand, this also means that I have no energy…
  • In! I love to read these, but I can't think of a story to contribute at the moment.
  • I like to hollow out strawberries and fill the hole with Nutella. A pound of strawberries and an entire jar of Nutella in a night several times a week was my treatment of choice for depression. It stopped working, though, or I became immune to it and had to start taking actual pills one day 25 pounds later.
  • Thank you for posting your decision. I'm so happy to hear this. I hope you will get the help you need from your family. I was in the same situation, just replace bipolar with alcoholic and the decision was HARD, but I did leave when the baby was 9 months old. If you're worried about your future, let me tell you mine. My ex…
  • HA! Me too. I clicked because I thought it would be about urinary tract infections. I have a lot of info on that. Can't help with nails, though.
