I don't expect my partner to make the same choices I make, but I appreciate his encouraging words, and the fact that he stopped buying me the treats that I am really fond of. It would really bum me out if he was actively trying to undermine my health. Even though I believe I can accomplish my goals in spite of someone…

I have a 20 ounce water bottle that I keep with me while I'm at work and I just make sure to fill it up three to four times a day. It takes a little more effort on my part to make sure I drink 64 ounces a day, but I end up feeling a lot better when I do.

Reaching out and letting people know what's going on is great, too! I tend to keep things a secret, and then it compounds into a way bigger problem. Sometimes just sharing what's going on for me helps me get back on track.

I can only speak from my own experience, which is that depression sucks and like sunny mentioned above, it causes sufferers to feel unable to do the things that make us feel better. Also, not all suggestions are feasible for everyone. Not everyone can afford therapy or medication. Not everyone believes in following a…

That old 70s show Soap. On DVD!

For me, the emotional and mental struggle is real! I've had people tell me "just eat better" or "just exercise" and I'm like, "thanks, I never would have thought of that." In my experience, I'm ready to change when I'm ready. There are practical things I can do, like stocking my pantry with healthy foods instead of junky…

I picked my goal weight based on experience. That weight range (five pounds above or below my goal) is where I'm the most comfortable in my body, and where I feel healthiest.

I bike commute so most of my riding is on the street, but I don't have a "street" bike. I bought a used hybrid cruiser for $175.00 from a local bike shop. It's not exactly light but I can lift it onto bike racks on public transportation. I'd recommend finding a good bike shop with trustworthy employees and test riding a…

Awesome work! I love that blue dress, too.

I let a square of dark chocolate melt on my tongue. That usually curbs my sweet-tooth.

I'm not sure who's playing! :-/

I gave everything to the Goodwill. Well... that's not entirely true. I have a Japanese Star Wars tee shirt that I don't want to let go of. But everything else is gone. They were just taking up space in my closet. Plus I've moved five times in the past year and it is a pain the *kitten* to move something I'm not using.

In my opinion, I don't really think that forcing yourself to drink green tea will help you. I drink it because I like it and it is my only source of caffeine, but I absolutely believe that water is the healthiest thing to drink. I think it's awesome that you're drinking water! Do what works for you.

I'm also a leftovers person. But sometimes I bring some Aidells chicken sausage (my favorite is the pineapple bacon), brown rice, and baby kale. I cut the sausage into small slices and microwave it with the brown rice, then stir in the baby kale (or spinach, whatever floats your boat) until it wilts a little bit. It's…

This is what I do. I tend to eat an apple with peanut butter for my morning snack.

I quit seven years ago because I was done with it. I don't know why it stuck this last time, but it did. I don't know if it would be harder to quit while you're also trying to eat healthier foods and exercise, but I would look at it as an overhaul on my entire life. I'm trying to get healthy and take care of my body, so…

My mom is gay. I'm LGBT friendly. Feel free to add me.

I get up for work at 4:30 AM, eat a bowl of oatmeal, and ride my bike 5.5 miles to work. Then I eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (on Dave's Light Killer Bread) before my shift starts. If I don't eat that sandwich I'm uncomfortably hungry all morning. This is the fittest I've ever been in my adult life. The early…

I also drink a lot of water and keep healthy snacks around. I like carrots with hummus, granola bars, apples with peanut butter, or a broth-based veggie soup. I don't let too much time pass between meals and snacks. I usually eat something every two or three hours. Unsweetened tot tea helped with boredom hunger pangs as…

My short answer is that I eat when I am hungry. My longer answer is that I eat three medium meals and three snacks throughout the day. My diary, which I haven't been using lately, reflects this. I have it set up like this: Breakfast Morning Snack Lunch Afternoon Snack Dinner Evening Snack If I am hungry and it's later in…

My dad had a stroke at a young age. I realized I needed to make some serious changes in my life. I'm very happy that I did.

It sounds like you need someone with warm, mitten-y gloves to help you out.

Agreed. I don't eat out much, but if I'm in a situation where I need something quick, cheap, and I'm out in the suburbs, I go to Subway.

Exercise helps a lot with my anxiety. Eating healthy foods also helps a lot. I've started using "grounding" techniques as well, which forces you to stay in the present moment. I tend to do things like count backwards from 300, run cold water over my hands, count windows, tell myself that I'm safe right now, stuff like…

I just picked up the first trade of Y: The Last Man! I haven't started it yet, but it's next on my list. I'm also about to start reading Fables and Lucifer, which I hear are great as well.

I love Cherie Priest's Clockwork Century series. It is the only steampunk I've read that isn't terrible. Also: zombies and dirigibles! The first book is Boneshaker, but you don't have to read them in the order they were written. My favorite is Dreadnaught. If you like graphic novels, The Sandman, Transmetropolitan, and…

The Blues Brothers' elevator scene and massive car crashes (some of my favorite car chase/car crash scenes are in this movie: "This mall's got everything!") Wesley dying in The Princess Bride. The Harry Belafonte dancing scene in Beetlejuice. The M.C. Escher scene in Labyrinth. The first T-Rex attack in Jurassic Park. The…

Holy crap, I do this, too. I don't like the volume of my stereo to be set on an odd number. Unless it's five. Five is okay.

I think everyone is different and you have to do what works for you. That being said, I can't function well on 1200 calories a day. Even when I wasn't very active I had MFP set on "Lightly Active."
