  • **I DO THIS** for my In-Home Fine Dining events! I have a remote doorbell button, and the chime part plugs in, in the kitchen. I put the remote under the host's plate, and tell him that "I want to give them their privacy" during the meal. That's code for "i'm going to stay in the kitchen, and finish cooking or cleaning,…
  • Well hello  ...You can call me Mrs. Robinson.
  • re: making a spreadsheet i guess it makes me a <strike>nerd</strike> geek to think, "what... doesn't EVERYONE do that?"
  • I'm no doctor or dietician, but if you're covering your B vitamins, (you're taking a multivitamin, aren't you?) i think you don't need it. I've been enjoying the flax minute muffin that's nothing but ground flax, baking powder, egg and oil... (optional packet of stevia & half teaspoon of cinnamon) I understand that bobs…
  • i don't like psyllium's texture either. Instead, colon cleanse has psyllium in capsules, too. They're not cheap... but I found some similar pills cheaper (at the 99c only store, 25 pills per container. that's less than half of name brand cost) I started taking 3 pills once a day, then twice a day, then all 6 at once (but…
  • in less than a week, (on August 30th!) I'm driving back home to Southern Middle TN... after a year in Los Angeles. ... before that, i spent 3 years in TN ... and before THAT i lived in Los Angeles for 14 years ... and before THAT, i grew up & went to college in Chicago's suburbs.
  • I had a survey on my MFP blog asking about favorite bacons... everyone said WRIGHTS but nobody said BENTONS is benton's overrated? (my current favorite is the bulk bacon at Sprouts, only $5/lb and really REALLY delicious!)
  • When I started, my husband promised me a little red convertible sportscar. I wonder if he thought he might actually have to pay up... ...because I **WILL** get there!
  • it's always interesting to me to look at others' food journals. even though I'm a chef, my own meals have been pretty simple. 6oz meat + some low carb vegetable + butter/sourcream/whatever. also the thing that's been saving my life, when encountering boring baked chicken or pork, has been zatarain's seasoning.
  • i bought a cute skirt in the size i want to be. All I need to do is fit in that skirt. When it fits, I've reached my goal. I keep trying it on, but it doesn't fit yet.... so i'm not done yet.
  • i used to BEFORE the diet modifications! I'd shop to a menu, never just a plain old grocery list and it was great. but now, it's a lot more by-ear, on the fly. I usually plan out the next meal before i eat it, (especially dinner) to see if it fits within my day.
  • 7 days is just long enough to get him weaned off carbs...and put him through withdrawal where he might get headaches and feel like he's got the flu. If he's going to give up carbs for a week, he should give them up for SIX, minimum. Then he'll be in ketosis, and he'll see some real weight loss. However, as soon as he…
  • I'm so glad you're okay! It is so unfair that as we're trying to get ourselves healthier that our bodies betray us and make us thing we're deathly sick! I was convinced I had appendicitis. I mean, I had a few symptoms pointed in that direction. Low fever, pain on the right lower abdomen, loss of appetite... I told my…
  • goat cheese peanut butter... with a sprinkle of chili powder blue cheese dressing as a dip make sure you measure (and account for) anything you put ON it, it doesn't erase the calories of the other stuff!
  • i'm 41 and well on my path of losing 76 lbs. I'm already down 14 in my first month on a super-low-carb diet (ketosis/ketogenic) ... only 62 or so to go!
  • a typical snack for me is 250 calories or so. Those calories go IN a lot easier & faster than they go OUT. I'm not knocking exercise, but if you eat more calories than you burn, you have to do a lot more exercise to burn it off than if you just didn't eat it.
  • here's another vote to committing to low-carb eating more than a week. read about glycogen & water storage -- you'll lose a lot of water-weight after you get over the carb withdrawal, but you'll gain it all back when you resume eating carbs.
  • Every time i read these ranty posts about *kitten* husbands not being supportive, i tell mine, "Thanks for not being a jerk." He's very confused.
  • I know, it's the stupidest thing, but since it's right there on the fridge, i can remember to push the pin onto the right square so that I mark what I've drunk. I take 6 fiber pills / day, 3 at 10am and 3 more at 3:30pm, and they're so easy forget whether I took them or not.
  • I'm not really a fan of fish, but especially low on my list are shrimp and tilapia. I try to eat a can of tuna once per week, but i just don't like it very much. I used to like tuna with mayo on saltines. In my world, fish exists so I can eat herbed mayonnaise (like how French fries exist as a vehicle for salt and ketchup!)
  • what you lost is water, because glycogen stores water. when the glycogen goes back up, you'll gain that back.
  • consider watching the movie Fat Head, it's on netflix streaming and Hulu. go ahead and skip through to the 2nd half. it will explain a LOT... and it's what convinced me to go keto.
  • the brand I got (jarrow) takes the way chocolate lip gloss smells. ..... which is good, because if it was REALLY GOOD, i'd suck those things down. I mix mine with water, ice and a 15 gr "serving" of flaxseed oil.
  • I'm Abby Sciuto from NCIS ...in my mind...
  • totally worth considering that a victory!!! keep it up, think of all the other things you'll be bragging about
  •  hug   best answer!
  • I'm 5'3, started at 211, now hovering at 200.5 (dammit get OFF me, you stupid half-a-pound!) My goal weight is 135. I'm eating 1500 or less each day, exercising (HARD) for about 30 mins 3x/week, and following keto. Anyone reading, peek at my diary to see what a chef does with low-carb on 1500 calories, and feel free to add…
  • Yeah, everyone says she has a sad little pouty-face! Some say that may mean she's part boxer? She's a pound-rescue, so we have no idea, and I'm not interested enough to find out via a DNA test.
  • I really needed to hear this today... thank you for the detailed post!
  • This is Noodles, my 6 yr old Staffordshire Terrier (AKA pitbull) 45 lbs of solid muscle, and very sweet and affectionate. She's all black except for one toe on her "passenger side" left foot, go figure! WITH EYEBROWS! Not only did she sit still for the makeup (silver eyeliner), but also for the photos! (damn that took a…
