  • I have had this problem and have all but given up on HRMs of any sort. I have had almost no luck be it battery life issues or just not connecting or showing impossible calorie burns both high and low (seriously one time I rode my bike for an hour and it said I burned 80 calories. Might as well just give up and eat…
  • I can't even begin to read this whole thread, or care about what most of this has to say, for that matter. What always gets me is the idea that people both for and against breastfeeding seem to think that it is perfectly acceptable to insist a mother take her baby into a bathroom and feed them there. If that is what you…
  • I just go with whatever I like. I don't need a certain tempo to keep me going, just music that makes me happy in the brainzzzz! It cracks me up when my "shuffle" moves from Kenny Rogers (the Gambler) to Motley Crue (Dr. Feelgood). :-)
  • lol i drink a lot of water but rarely log it, it seems. There is NO way i would ever get sleep or get any work done, though, if i drank half my weight in water oz....lol

  • Yeah i never found one that worked well for me until i found one that i could put on my shoe. I always blamed it on my belly jostling it too much making it count steps i hadn't taken. gave it to one of my 'skinny' friends and she had the same problem. (that did make me feel a little better) :-) My "shoe odometer" never let…
  • People i worked with noticed it right away. Way before I did. I actually had to take pictures of my face and put them next to other pictures to see what they were seeing. My mother, being the person she is, still doesn't see it 60 pounds later. She isn't mean, i swear, that's just the way she is. Everybody else noticed it…
  • This is a very good point. I would get referrals if you have friends who have trainers in your area.
  • I have found, quite recently, that i don't go to the gym as often as i do when i have a trainer. I had unlimited training sessions in january and was there 3-4 days a week. Since January I have been to the gym once.... ugh. I need to get back in there and don't really want to pay for the trainer right now. I have boot…
  • My own personal dress code doesn't allow me to wear spandex or tank tops.... ever. (Got caught locked out of my old apartment once in a tank dress and NOTHING else (it was bedtime!)... horrifying having to use my fairly creepy neighbor's phone...yikes) aaanyway... i wear a t-shirt and capris. Thankfully my sports bra…
  • I have sucked it up recently and started eating cottage cheese. I have never liked it, and still don't all that much but I can tolerate it if i doctor it up. Approximately 700 years ago, my grandmother taught me to sprinkle a little bit of jello mix on it to make it tasty... I am not a fan of jello for so many reasons but…
  • From what I have seen, and I avoid drama in my online life...lol, this conversation gets fairly heated so you have to take everybody's opinion with a grain of salt and do what makes sense to you. That being said, I am VEHEMENTLY opposed to this one. But I am opposed to pretty much anything that has you do something in…
  • This is an interesting thread. I have come to the conclusion I am never going to get enough protein by food alone because i just can't get enough meat in my diet, and by the time i add most of my protein-laden foods to my diet i am almost out of calories for the day. So I have been considering giving in to supplement…
  • They are protein bars. you should be able to find them at any grocery store in the section where the keep the protein supplements and stuff.
  • I learned about Chobani from this site. I love it! I also get big containers of plain greek yogurt and add fruit and a honey as well as a couple of tablespoons of wheat germ. yum. probably a weird texture for some with the wheat germ added but i think it is kind of like adding graham cracker crumbs to it. :-) I have also…
  • found frozen steel cut oats at Trader Joe's. I haven't eaten them a lot since I always forget to cook them before I run out the door, but I like the grainy texture of them, a lot. yummeh!
  • I am more concerned about that "no carbs" thing than anything. YOU NEED CARBS TOO!
  • lol this makes me scream at the voices in my head every time i see it but i try not to voice them out loud. The point is that a pound of muscle is SMALLER than a pound of fat, so it takes up less room in the body.
  • The first month I was seeing a trainer I gained a pound... and lost about 10 inches. The scale isn't your only measure of success. and at risk of sounding really gross... this weekend when i first weighed in I had lost about .5 pounds. I hadn't eaten anything before I went to the restroom so I decided to weigh in again....…
  • Funny... I was just reading Real Simple magazine when I saw something that reminded me of this thread. The article was about health symptoms you can ignore and this was one of them. They said that sometimes it is just an issue of too tight shoes and not moving the toes enough. so there ya go. :-)
  • I have used smaller plates fairly successfully. Doesn't solve the problem of cleaning the plate, but it does make cleaning the plate less of a problem since there is less food on them. :-)
  • Made this for an office dinner party last night and thought it was quite good. My recipe actually got it down to 186 calories. I used extra lean ground turkey (Honeysuckle so no added sodium) I use my own taco mix so there is no salt added to that. I used Latortilla Factory - Smart & Delicious Tortilla Whole Wheat/Low Carb…
  • Face and boobs first... apparently everywhere else last...lol
  • I have considered it, but my desk is set so I can stand at it if i want, and I don't think that i could reach my desk properly if I had a bally ball at my desk. I do think I may switch it out for my craft room though.
  • That's weird, the post was there earlier. The Eat This; Not That guy can usually be found on Yahoo. (in this case it was one of the "highlighted" articles when i opened my yahoo page.) http://health.yahoo.net/experts/eatthis/15-worst-health-diet-myths
  • same kind of structure as my enchilada casserole i make, but looks like it is healthier... way less sodium anyway. Definitely will have to try this but i think i will need to make a smaller dish of it. Don't have a family to feed and this is waaay more left overs than i can deal with. :-) (have you tried freezing it after…
  • lol you do make a good point. Every time i hear someone touting something that is clearly just adding crap to a person's body as being natural, i find myself screaming (sometimes internally...lol) SO IS ARSENIC! ;-)
  • I agree with the posters talking "how did they do it?" I am not necessarily opposed to lower fat or fat free options but some things just shouldn't be messed with, because they are healthier in their natural form. It also reminds me of the time I saw someone posting, elsewhere, about zero calorie raspberry jam. How in the…
  • I don't know anything about it, but anything that says X number of days, always throws up red flags for me. The key to success is in making a LIFETIME change, not a 6 day or 30 day or whatever day change. The reason we all yo-yo so much is that we don't make the lifetime committment to changing how we think about food and…
  • lol that is the same issue i had yesterday when i went to the trainer. It dawned on me as i was opening my backpack to change in to my gym clothes that i forgot my sports bra. I had to insist that there be no jumping during our session yesterday. However, I was showing the girls in all their glory during the mule kicks...…
  • One of my employees and I were talking about this very thing yesterday. Last year I didn't do any cheat days and I lost over 60 pounds. However, I stopped losing 7 months ago (so yeah... 60 pounds in 6 months...lol) I decided that this year I am not going to deprive myself of the food I love, but just limit how often I…
