I imagine it gives you a little room for setbacks, but I'm no expert in the field. I do think part of recovery is doing what your treatment team tells you to do. Follow the rules they set for you. Wanting to justify lowering your BMI by 1.5 sounds like the eating disorder talking.

I think setting your profile to half pound a week sounds like a very good idea. I also think just going to maintenance calories for the vacation would be fine, too.

I eat several different kinds of rice, depending on availability/recipe/mood. Since I eat a pretty wide variety of other foods and I make sure to get plenty of protein and fiber everyday, rice in general fits in with my goals.

I can't. If someone else finds they can, that's awesome for them. It's just not realistic for me.

Maybe next year he will jump 5000 meters every day to try to debunk that gravity myth, once and for all!

I just bought a bunch of giant portabellas at Costco yesterday. Might even be able to get my husband to eat them if I make them this way. I won't think of it as pizza, because it isn't, but it might be a yummy way to fix the mushrooms.

Check to see if there is a Pie Five restaurant in your area. They make individual pizzas that are usually 600 calories or less for the whole thing, depending on what toppings you pick. Good pizza is worth spending the calories on, IMHO.

Toward the end of my first marriage, my extremely controlling and mentally abusive first husband agreed to go to couples counseling. The counseling became yet another mechanism for the abuse. We would leave a session, all smiles, and as soon as the elevator doors closed he would light into me for disagreeing with him on…

Yep. The tight ring is a dead giveaway. I don't ever weigh on a day when my rings are obviously snug. All that tells you is how much you weigh PLUS how much extra water you are lugging around at the moment.

I only get angry when I can't get the danged packaging open. Even then, I guess I'm more mad at the packaging than the contents.

I love all kinds of rice! I agree that a rice cooker makes things much simpler.

That is not at all true about cheese. WTF. That coach is an idiot.

I've made cake using a gluten-free cake mix and a can of diet soda. Turns out pretty decently, but it doesn't rise as high as it would with the eggs and oil in it. I cut mine into bars and froze some of them.

My cousin had thyroid cancer and weathered it quite well. I think she had at least part of the thyroid removed and had radiation treatments. She now takes synthetic hormones that make up for the missing thyroid. I think the hardest part for her was getting the level of that medication sorted out, with emotional…

Buy plain Greek yogurt and blend it with herbs or dip mix to use it as savory dip to go with veggies. Mushrooms are pretty good protein, as are broccoli, peas, and a number of other veggies. If you have the budget, look for meat analog brand Beyond Meat. They make really tasty chik'n strips with loads of protein, but they…

Yeah, I had a terrible time with that. Then I decided I was happy being by myself and focused on enjoying my life and making it great. Just a couple months after I had quit looking, I met a guy (on myspace, of all things) who was also not looking for a relationship. We went out a couple of times, as "friends" and within a…

How many calories are you eating? If you have set your calorie goal too low, that could be an issue. Open your diary so people can give you better guidance.

Last time we moved, we basically worked our *kitten* off all day and when we finally had a chance to eat, we had giant combos from Burger King. My husband sweated off 5 pounds (mostly water, of course) that weekend, even with the onion rings and sauce.

Skipping breakfast does NOT make you more tired throughout the day, nor does it slow down your metabolism. Skipping breakfast does NOT put you in starvation mode. Skip breakfast if you want to.

If it's Diet Dr. Pepper, then I say. "Yay!" and "Yea!" Check my ticker. Has a Diet Dr. Pepper a day kept me from losing weight?

Carbs are delicious, and as a vegetarian they are a significant chunk of my daily intake. A calorie deficit is the most important thing for weight loss.

I go there all the time, by choice! I get something with a Boca patty, hold the mayo, and have them lettuce-wrap it instead of using a bun. As long as I don't go too crazy with the bottomless fries, I can fit the whole meal into my calories easily. The sodium is pretty ridiculous, though. . . .

Lost my mother to cancer, too. It's a rotten, cruel disease, for sure. I'll say a prayer for your friend.

I LOVE salt, too, but it definitely doesn't love me back! I have kidney issues when I get too much of it. I have found that adding lemon juice to some recipes helps reduce the need for salt. I make my own soups from scratch and use water instead of broth or bouillon. I usually cut the salt for a recipe in half and then…

I think I would much rather have a smaller, full-fat cupcake than a great big, low-fat one. My advice would be to make mini cupcakes using all the normal ingredients.

Yum I just tried this...my new favorite! [/quote] Another vote for this one!

I dropped an iPhone 4 in the toilet-- damned hoodies and their shallow pockets! Fortunately I was due for an upgrade. Now I have a Samsung Galaxy s5, so a simple dunking won't be a problem, if it happens again.
