Bump for eating later...

I love 5x5 and have used SL/SS logic to my split (as opposed to modifying the basic program). Loving it and making gains, even on a 300 cal deficit. Get stuck in, you won't regret it.

Chocolate covered raisins..... Damn, I love those things :(

Bump.

I'm 5x5 for everything except body weight exercises. I love my dips/pull ups so do 3 sets fo failure. I don't really sweat the rep numbers so long as it's an honest fail. Otherwise it's 5x5 for everything, always. My routine is a mutant, half standard 5 day split, half Starting Strengh. And yes, I do know that makes no…

Many thanks and I think you're right. I've been lifting heavy for 6ish months now and I've seen great results in how my clothes fit, energy levels etc... Other stuff too that I can't comment on here ;) Dropping to 1,000 cals (and below) was a disaster for muscle and strength even though I did also lose fat like crazy. I…

Hmmmm, weight went up 0.7 kgs this week and my waist shrank by slightly over 1/2 inch... Definate strengths gains even if modest... Pleased with this high protein, 300 cal deficit. Will maintain till 10% BF.

I used to run Suwon Scuba Club in Korea. Time was I was spending 10 hours a day in the pool, hence Suwon Fish.

You and me both sister.... I normally pay for my "big" friday or saturday with a fast day. It keeps the scales in balance but it's costs me muscle :( I guess long term weight loss needs to be a balance of discipline and social life. If you can't find that balance (which means enjoying the odd f#cked up night) you'll never…

I vote ThePhonixRose the hottest because of her beautiful mind ^^

Boring story but I nearly died from an undiagnosed (well misdiagonsed) burst appendix a few years ago. I remember clearly giving a p#ss sample and marvelling how it looked exactly like coffee. Same colour as an Americano with solids that looked just life coffee grounds. Lots more ugly/scary details that I won't bore you…

You guys are both incredible. Thanks for the motivation.

It's very early days but.... I've been running a 300 cal deficit for a week now with a target of 200 gms protein. Most days I've only gotten 150 but 200 is the target. Tuna gets dull :( I've lost 1/2 inch for my waist since last week and only lost 0.3 lbs. That looks VERY promising to me. As I say it's early days. I'll…

My favorite routine? Go to bodybuilding.com and search J-dawg 5 day split. I'm loving it ^^

From wikipedia... Non muscle-developing methods Some bodybuilders, particularly at professional level, inject substances such as "site enhancement oil", commonly known as synthol, to mimic the appearance of developed muscle where it may otherwise be disproportionate or lagging. This is known as "fluffing".[33][34] Synthol…

I agree that we're mosty using guesstimate tools. I'm tired of losing strenght and muscle so I'm going to a 300 cal deficit with 200 gms protein. I'm going to apply starting strengh logic to my old 5 day split since my form has gone to *kitten* struggling to push the weights I used just a month ago... My gold standard will…

When I started to "transform" (i.e. lose the 30 extra lbs I was carrying) I hit the gym EVERY DAY for 90 days. Not easy with injuries, party offers etc... I lost 12 lbs fat and gained 6 lbs muscle based on body composition. This was done with no regard to nutrition other than adding protein shakes/supps to my wifes…

Where I live there is no social life without booze. Weekends are always tricky for me. Sometimes I leave cals for booze but it means on 1,320 cals I don't get much nutrition on the weekends. Grrrrr, it's not easy...

I live in Seoul now but I used to run Suwon scuba club so I've been Suwon Fish on every notice board forever... Maybe time to change it up to Seoul Fish ^^ I think I may givie it a go... Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks guys, lots of excellent advice here! I will attempt a lean bulk by being super careful with nutrition (eating at ETEE with as much protein as I can fit in, ideally 50-60%). When I up my cals to ETEE I'll start a thread posting my results. Again, thanks all.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I was kinda venting as I was so mad at myself (again). Ideas seem to fall into two camps 1: Kindness 2: Subconcious undermining I really think many folks fall into the latter group. Much longer than I've wrestled with weight I've wrestled with smoking. Many times I'd try to quit folks went out…

Bumping this to study later.... Many thanks FitnessSocialist ^^

For protein my two favorites are chicken breast and tuna. They're really not too expensive. Once I've had 200 gms of either with my 200 mils whole milk I'm basically on my protein and fat targets which leaves the rest for carbs which I've been having (generally) as fruit. It's been working GREAT so far ^^ Eggs, milk,…

Good grief, I had no idea the carbs were 55%! I just reset to 40/40/20. Thanks for the heads up.

Hmmmmm, 7 weeks away gives me time to get my @ss into gear..... My Korean doesn't really rock.... Where is the race being held? Interested...

I like the stuff too and thought it was basically the same as water. Nope, since starting to log my Coke Zero I've noticed my sodium intake is way high :(

I'm living in Korea and I avoid soju like the plague even though it only costs a little over a buck a bottle. LOTS of bad chemicals in soju. If you like it, more power to you but I don't believe it can beat vodka for alchohol / cals.

The whole package! I have to say I love a lady in an elegant cocktail dress... Edit: Opps, that was at TxAngel79. You gotta past fast round here....
-
Good advice! Making myself really hungry for a few days probably isn't a good idea.

I've run half and full marathons in these and I'm (and always have been) a heavy guy. Nike Pegasus. Trust me on this.
