  • I just posted in a different topic, but I don't count calories either. It is far too obsessive for me. I instead focus on no processed foods, no soy, and being mindful of carb and sugar intake and when (I try not to eat much or any past 6pm). Alcohol is probably my biggest issue as I love beer ^_^ when I do 'cheat' I take…
  • Honestly, lower calories hurts my weight loss more then anything. I don't even count calories, I just eat non processed food, no soy, and watch the amount of carbs/sugars. I take pictures when I eat something 'cheaty' and date it as a reminder of when I last cheated. I also just move more (well before the broken ankle)…
  • It was definitely my most noticeable symptom, and biggest heartache. Its been about 4 months since I was diagnosed, I'm up to 1.25 grains and nearly at maintaining level :)
  • I was 24, but had been experiencing symptoms for about a year and a half. My Endo thinks I've had a series of 'episodes' where my thyroid didn't work so well and then did for a while so hard to tell how long it really was. my main symptoms were fatigue, depression, and of course weight gain and inability to lose. And when…
  • Being hypoglycemic, all of this sounds like my life when I'm not careful lol. The burning question though, is it that time of the month? The swelling and skin sensitivity plus heightened blood sugar issues would point to yes. You may have also shocked your system with so much sugar compared to your usual intake. Try easing…
  • No one?? Really??? Damn
  • Yeah knew the tsh but not t3/t4, dang, they both went down with medicine :/
  • I have to agree your values don't say hypo to me and your symptoms may be related to something else. I wouldn't get off armour or anything but maybe test for other things that could be causing all of this? if it helps, my tsh was a 6.5 and I've been on armour for 8 weeks now. I feel a little better but nothing huge yet,…
  • I second the keto approach, before diagnosed it was the only thing that worked to get weight off. I do keto via south beach phase 2. I can't do phase 1 unfortunately (I'm hypoglycemic as well, having no sugars from fruit and 0 complex carbs makes me faint) but I still would lose 2 pounds a week on it. everyone is different…
  • I've only been on Armour for 3.5 weeks (30mg) and I'm on the young side, no kids, no hashis, etc. So mine may vary greatly from others. At first nothing really moved, then I had my period and that was terrible. Worst PMS I've ever had. But afterwards I dropped 5 pounds in a week, and have slowly started seeing it going…
  • Having hypo can cause your hair to slow growth, thin, and even fall out. So getting your levels good helps :) my roots are already growing out
  • I gained 5 pounds the first week, nothing this week thankfully (only the second) but I'm contacting my Endo on Saturday and letting him know and seeing if my dosage will be increased. My followup isn't scheduled for another 6weeks! don't be afraid to honestly approach your Endo and let them know what's going on.
  • Damn auto correct, I meant a grain :/ but found it, 65mg = 1 grain
  • I gotta ask, how many mg in a gram?
  • I really hate when doctors just look at the lab values and don't *kitten* that "hmmm, seeing as my patient still has effin symptoms maybe the problem isn't solved" best of luck to everyone! I'm glad to see so many trying still no matter what.
  • It sounds to me a bunch of kids switched around colors in boxes. Decently common thing unfortunately. Thyroid medication causing changes to your hair color would only be at the very root where new hair grows in, not all over.
  • Thank you everyone for sharing your stories, I have done soooo much research but its another thing to hear it from people first hand. (plus my fiance works in the medical field, I couldn't ask for a better support system) I'm 24, so the "your metabolism just won't be what it use to be" excuse is moot, I know this cause my…
  • Oh and I'm on Armour, but just the intro dose of 30mg
  • Hey everyone, my name is Mostly im 24 and I reside in Seattle. I was finally diagnosed with hypo on Saturday after being told it was just depression. My TSH originally came back a 2.2, but I requested a referral to and Endo who ROCKS and it came back a 6.5! Along with low t4. Luckily (or not) I have a serious family…
  • thanks everyone! length in pants isnt an issue so much as length in pants where the inseam stops, had this problem even when I was skinny. My biggest issue is shirts that are long enough to go mid hip, I usually end up buying mens shirts (for printed tees) and sewing them into a girly cut. I'd say I probably have a 33"…
  • The nature of studies is typically to prove and or disprove your idea. On the flipside of that, everyone reacts differently according to their body's chemistry (like those who fall asleep when they drink caffeine) So no, it won't work for everyone, just as some of the studies show. but just as others show, it also can work.
  • she's talking about this: There are concerns that the use of CLA supplements by extremely overweight people may tend to cause or to aggravate insulin resistance, which may increase their risk of developing diabetes.[9] Commercially available supplements contain equal mixtures of two CLA isomers: the cis-9, trans-11 isomer…
  • CLA is one of the only supplements out there that can AID you with your weight loss ALONG WITH with diet and exercise. Key here is, CLA assists in your diet and exercise plan, it is not a substitution. Basically, it helps to reduce a very small amount of fat over time, and helps to increase muscle mass, but again a small…

  • I'm 5'10, and the lowest adult weight I have had was 168. I know then I really wanted to drop down to 150, but not sure if my body wants to be there. I'm trying for it regardless, but won't be disappointed if I stop at 170. I currently weigh 233 (yikes)
  • you made a great point here, you felt good at 175. so get there and see how you feel, not what the scale says. I'm 5'10 and the best adult weight I had with some exercise but not great eating was 165, so I feel comfortable saying lower with a better diet. if I get to 170 and feel great, I have no problem stopping. but…
  • ah, the chest part adds to my equation unfortunately. I think that with us being taller, we just tend to have larger standards then most. Most womens clothing it made off of a base model that is a size 0-4 and 5'1-5'5 depending on brand, then for the larger sizes they just add inches across and a TINY amount to length. Its…
  • 5'10 here and no heels for me, I feel like I have a high enough center of gravity!
  • I'm 5'10 and a medium (but overweight) frame. I still dont struggle too much with calf size but tight sleeves have always been an issue for me. I take it you are large chested?
  • I held an extra 40 for 4 years, then another 40 for the past year. So I guess not long, and I know my skin bounces back quite a bit, its still just.... intimidating? Thank you for sharing your experience pkiesch, congrats on losing that weight! would love to keep hearing from ladies if they want to share
