I know I don't show my weight at all. I am using the scale as motivation and my BMI as a guideline for my goal. I do plan on using my body fat percentage to figure out whether to stop at my goal or continue.

I think the recommendation is strength training before cardio. The cardio supposedly relaxes the blood vessels, while strength training hardens them (temporarily).
