  • My fiancée used to be the same besides the smoking. About a month before his 24th birthday he landed himself in the hospital. Diabetic ketoacidosis. He is a diabetic now, insulin dependent. It took that to get him to snap out of it and start changing his life. The best thing you can do is sit him down. Don't make him work…
  • The funny thing is that their one friend has a pic. lol
  • That is what my FitBit is for, but if your activity level is set to "sedentary" than there is nothing wrong with logging it. If you are set to "lightly active" you probably don't want to. FitBit recently released the Zip, a cheaper version of the FitBit that is pretty awesome if you want to more accurately track your…
  • A note about exercise calories... think of it this way. If you have MFP set for you to lose 1 pound per week, your calorie goal is already 500 under what your body burns each day. Exercise is adding to that to make a BIGGER deficit. This isn't a bad thing, but you don't want too big of a deficit. If your deficit is very…
  • I went to a gym recently, which I haven't done since college. I work out at home and have been putting together a nicely equipped home gym but I'm lacking a few things still and figured I'd give a free trial of the local gym a try. I don't think I'll ever go back. I weigh around 320 pounds. I'm not small. Of course, that…
  • My average was probably 3000-4000 calories with days with over 7000 before. I drank A LOT of mountain dew and I ate tons of potatoes with toppings, cheese, chips, pasta, and all of that. I would go out and get a large fry and 6 piece cheese sticks at Jack in the Box a few times a week as a "snack". Now I eat around…
  • I'm 5'2 and my goal weight is 152.2 pounds. I know at my height that is at the very high edge of healthy, and I may decide to lose more then, but I picked that goal because it is 200 pounds lower than my starting weight.
  • This is a great time of year for fall activities. Corn mazes seem "corny" (lol) but they are a lot of fun. A lot of places let you go through the maze for free or charge next to nothing for it. Corn maze followed by a picnic or low priced dinner at a restaurant could be a great choice.
  • Think of it this way... if you have your MFP set for you to lose 1 pound a week, that means you need to take in 500 calories less than you burn. If your goal calories on here is 1500, that is already 500 under what MFP assumes you will be burning each day. (How much MFP thinks you are burning depends on if you set it to…
  • I've tried Body by Vi and I didn't like the taste at all. It was kind of gritty as well. I haven't tried shakeology only because I haven't been able to find a sample and I don't want to buy it if I don't like the taste. Generally I stick to a protein shake and a piece of multi grain toast for breakfast and it keeps me full…
  • I don't exactly withhold... but if we get in a fight I usually head right to my workout equipment and try to get my aggression out that way. The only part that sucks now is that I come back an hour later no longer angry and he is still pissed.
  • I usually aim to be even weekly. If I go over one day I will exercise a little more and eat a little less to make up for it. Of course if I go way over because of a special occasion, I just figure it may slow down my progress a little bit, but that is okay as long as I don't do it often.
  • Nothing wrong with just enjoying food every once and a while. I would try to log it anyways, even if it puts you over, but don't feel bad about going over either! The way I see it... what is the point of doing all of this work if we never get to let loose ever again, right?
  • Well, before I started lifting heavy I did a lot of 10 minute workouts. I found an arm workout that I really loved on YouTube. They are all on this page: http://www.zujava.com/weightlossfitnessroutine
  • My favorite meal replacement shake is... 8 ounces almond milk (any milk will do) 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder 1/2 banana 2 tablespoons PB2 (powdered peanut butter) A handful of ice cubes I'll usually have a piece of whole grain toast with this as well.
  • I exercise. If I want a 500 calorie beer, I either need to eat 500 calories less or burn 500 calories more. Rather than doing one or the other, I would prefer to eat 250 calories less and burn off 250 calories more.
  • Drink plenty of water. Moisturize your skin. I use a mix of aloe and cocoa butter. It has been helping with my stretch marks as well! I apply it every night. In the end it is all about keeping your skin healthy and hydrated so it can try to pull itself tight again. If you have a lot to lose, you should expect some extra…
  • I do strength training or yoga on my rest days and some light cardio on the elliptical. Just don't push yourself too hard when it comes to cardio or legs or you will be struggling during your next run.
  • I have around 180 pounds to lose and am always looking for friends, however I do try to only add people that aren't on the 1200 calorie plan. I've had an eating disorder in the past and I prefer to surround myself by people who are aiming for slow and healthy weight loss. If that is you, add me!
  • Some very polarized opinions here... Honestly, none of that is required, but little gestures like that mean something. Sure, I can open a door on my own, but I notice when my fiancée runs ahead to open it for me. He doesn't have to, but I know he does it out of love. It isn't so much a deal breaker if a guy doesn't do…
  • I was actually trying to log a rum and coke today and it took me forever to find it without diet coke. >_< If you like diet coke, that is your thing. I'm one to cut calories where I can. I'm just surprised that rum and diet coke is in there 15-20 times before rum with regular coke.
  • I love my Polar FT4. It was under $50 on eBay new and it lets you input your height, weight, and age for a more accurate calorie burn. It also tells you when your heart rate is in zone. The FT7 has more features but is slightly more expensive. The FT4 is one of the best basic ones out there from what I read when shopping.
  • I always eat back my calories unless it was a low calorie burn. If I'm going on a walk, I won't eat those, but if I'm on the elliptical for an hour, I'll eat those back. The way MFP works is that your net calories already has a deficit built in.
  • Water weight can take up to a week to go away. I remember one time my weight shot up 10 pounds in 2 days after the local fair! Focus on lowering your sodium intake, drinking more water, and push on for a few more weeks and see how things go.
  • One thing you are going to want is more protein. You seem under on protein most every day. How are you measuring your food? Do you use a food scale and measuring cups?
  • Awesome! Keep up the good work. My first day was today.
  • I started today! Sent you a request. I'm also in a FB group full of people doing C25k if you want to join: https://www.facebook.com/groups/367857656623741/
  • Just keep pushing on and you'll keep improving! The key is to keep trying to do a little better than last time. I've heard most people run faster while training than during races for many reasons including nerves or a new running area.
  • I remember being a size 12 in middle school. Boy do I wish I still was! Back then that was considered very overweight for my age. Now I'm much bigger. I don't think I've been skinny since I was a very small child. I think a big part of that is lack of exercise. Even as a small child I would prefer to lay in bed and read a…
  • As you get closer to your goal it is a good idea to lower how many pounds you lose a week. Generally 2 pounds per week is only safe and a good idea for those who are obese.
