  • You look fabulous!! They say the best revenge is success....and I'd say you're a raging success!
  • I'm an RN and I'm so impressed with your A1c!!! I see the effects of obesity in my work every day. I'm so proud when someone takes responsibility for their health! It certainly is my personal motivation. Good luck to you.
  • I neglected to introduce myself with my previous post. My name is Sonni and I live in Portland, Oregon, a huge foodie heaven! My weight loss philosophy is "slow and steady". I finally got my head in a good place when I was about 62. Seven years later, I've lost over 75#. I'm hoping to get to get off another 35 by the time…
  • Well, this blog is right up my alley. I love to eat, to eat out and to cook. But I really love the challenge of doing all of that in a way that will support my efforts to become healthier. I was recently laid up for 6 weeks following foot surgery. I used that opportunity to find all kinds of recipes under 400 calories. I…
  • If I've learned anything in the last few years, it's that the body is going to do what the body is going to do. I would get discouraged if I didn't meet a timeline. I do better just doing what I need to do and know that, sooner or later, I'll get where I need to be.
  • Fabulous and inspiring!! Both yours and the other comments from other good sized gals who haven't allowed size to dissuade then from running. I'm so encouraged. No more excuses!!
  • I hate the word and concept of cheating. We're adults and make choices. There's nothing wrong with making the choice to have a couple of pieces of pizza and then resuming healthier choices. It just involves sane decision making, something I think we're all trying to learn to do.
  • I'm also an Oregonian (Portland), in the medical field (RN), and have lost weight on Weight Watchers, a program I strongly advocate for weight loss, along with MFP. I was moved to tears by your post. I think anyone who has had a great deal of weight to lose and has had some success can relate to your story. I would be…
  • I, too, lost considerable weight on WW. It's a sane, healthy approach to weight loss. I think people have to do whatever works for them. I personally appreciate using what I learned in WW along with what I'm learning on MFP. And the support from both is priceless in this journey.
  • I reached up to scratch my shoulder and was shocked at the hard lumps there - bones! I'm still surprised every time I feel them.
  • How fortunate that the Doc's words resonated with you. Regarding weight loss, truer words were never spoken. Wouldn't it be great if we could all get those tests done as we progress, because we would all see those numbers improve. In the end, it has to be about our health, with all the rest being a major bonus!!
  • I like this approach. I'm 69 years old and lost 75# over 6 years using Weight Watchers. I still have 40# to go. I had joined WW many times in the past and had never been able to stick with it. The big change for me was in my attitude. I recognized that every previous attempt was a learning experience, not a failure. I…
  • I know this is so discouraging! Add to that the sleep deprivation and hormonal shifts that come with a new baby and it's a real challenge. I'm hoping your nursing your baby. That helps as they comsume around 1000 calories a day. But if not, be kind to yourself, make small changes and be patient. You have alot going on and…
  • Frankly, I like the salads at Wendy's so much, the burgers are no temptation for me. I order extra salad dressing. Then I use 1/2 a packet on the 1/2 salad and have extra for salads I make at home that are similar to the ones there. I've become a salad nut!!!
  • Impressive! Congratulations! Keep up the good work!!
  • Boy, are you on the right site! Don't short change your partner. If he understands how unhappy this is making you, you may be surprised at how supportive he might be. Give him specifics on how he might support you. In my experience, recovering from the doldrums sometimes is just about taking one step in the right…
  • I think the suggestion that you fill out your profile refer to the fact that we look for people we might have a little more in common with. It makes the exchange more relatable. I understand your reticence to reveal much about yourself. Just make it basic. We've all been there to one extent or another. Feel free to friend…
  • Fabulous!!! That's what it's all about!
  • I find that if I commit to logging everything, no matter what, it helps me to face it, accept that i've stumbled, and start to take responsibility for my choices again.
  • What an inspiration! What a thrill to see your health improve!!
  • I find it's easier to stay on track if I focus on 2 things: taking it a day at a time, just doing what I need to do and (2) thinking for the long term. This isn't, for me, just about weight loss. It's about changing how I feel about my relationship with food, how I manage stress when it comes to food. The rest will take…
  • I can't count the number of times I went back to WW. But I consider it the healthiest program/support system available. When I finally went back the last time 7 years ago, it was with the attitude that (1) every previous attempt taught me something, (2) there was no failure, only process (a stumble is just a stumble - it's…
