  • I can think of one - Tisha Campbell-Martin from My Wife and Kids - she is beautiful and curvy!
  • Hey Rachel, have you tried this link? You might find useful info here http://triwa.org.au/ They usually have a list of clubs close by who will help with training sessions as well as a calendar of events :)
  • Another Sydneysider here. I hope you reach all your goals :) Fantastic community on here and you'll find there's an Aussies group in the forums... good luck!
  • This is my problem. I think the main reason is because weekends are when we catch up with friends, family, etc and it is almost always based on lunches and dinners and other eating events... it's hard but I know I need to get a grip on my will power. Also, because I like to go to the gym during my lunch break at work or…
  • I did my first Pinkies in 2008 and then did a proper enticer in Callala Beach later that year. I found out I was pregnant, and with twins no less the weekend after Callala so have had a pretty long break!!! I'll definitely be training for 2012 though, but in Sydney :)
  • Thanks for the kind words :) I'm starting to feel better but with almost a week off training, I'm really thinking twice about competing in my triathlon on Sunday and I'm really sad. It was to be my first one in 3 years...
  • Hehehe - I like hearing Aussie terms in different accents! I think it's really fun and cute and it's nicer having visitors :) Don't worry, the majority of Aussies are actually really friendly ... I live right in the Sydney city and walk past the backpacker hostels daily... I love trying to figure out where everyone's from…
  • Hi everyone, I did my first 2 enticer tris in 2008. Then the weekend after my second one, I found out I was pregnant with twins! Well that definitely put training on the backburner but I've signed up for my first one since next Sunday. It's very short to ease into things 250m/10km/2.5km but hopefully it's one that I can…
  • I've been a member of several in the Sydney area - Fernwood, Fitness First, Definition, One55 and now Virgin Active. I tend to prefer the larger gyms because I like class variety. Just make sure there is enough there to keep you interested in going back again and again. I love love love Virgin Active because of all the new…
  • Thanks so much! In the same boat, TOM plus being sick makes me feel like I'm dying. Hope you show a good loss next week :)
  • Hi there - I have a 6 year old and 2 year old twins plus a full time job. The way I fit in my exercise is by walking to work and back and going to the gym / run during my lunch break. If not, I go for a quick gym session just before going home or I wait until the kids are all asleep and go. This might mean I don't get to…
  • Yup, definitely need to scream!!! I've been at this for over a year now but I stalled in April of this year with the weight loss. Now it's a yo-yo effect and I've been really hard at it this last month with exercise and I feel stronger and have entered an enticer triathlon for next Sunday. Unfortunately, just got hit with…
  • Hi everyone! Thanks for making this group :) I'm 5' and a little change, currently about 149 lbs as well. It's hard having to convert those coz I'm from Australia, lol!
  • Surry Hills, Sydney :) Moved to this part of Sydney last year, before that, was in Blacktown.
  • Yup! I hear you! Hubs did the same thing to me... comes up and says he put on 7 kgs during winter, proceeds to start dieting and exercising... 3 weeks later he's already shed 4 kgs. I moaned about how I keep gaining and losing the same weight and he just turns right around and says it's because I need to be consistent!…
  • Do Tai (Brittany Murphy) in Clueless.. big hair and overalls :) - and don't forget to sing "rolling my the homies!!! Lol...
  • Love this!!! I don't ever want to me skinny fat and I don't think I have the body type for it.... this article is pure awesome :)
  • Hmmm.... I actually have a wish list in my blog. However I've got the Vibrams already and my road bike is being acquired Saturday (a nice-enough entry level one and not the Avanti Vitale that I wanted but those are the breaks when the budget doesn't match!) The next two that are really at the forefront is: 1. iPhone 4S -…
  • Yup, love the Vibrams too!!! Alot of people comment on them at first but you get used to it :) Definitely start off with short distances, I got my first pair early this year and I can run about 5k in them before my shins and ankles say to stop. I haven't been consistent though so I've had to restart a couple of times.…
  • Wear them!!! In most gyms I've been to, lots of people wear them - from the cycling machines, to the rowers, to the combat classes to the weights. Be proud that you are doing exercise which is strenuous enough to warrant their use :)
  • The classes you're doing sound like they're good :) I've tried both body combat and body jam and they're heaps of fun. Have you tried Body Pump? That's a good one to try if you want to incorporate weights in with your cardio and you'll burn plenty of calories with that whilst toning at the same time. Good luck!
  • It's a great class!!! You can put as little weight as you like, when I first tried it I just used the bar with no weights and you will still get a work out. It's good to do it that way too at first so you can check your form and not do any damage if you can't get it straight away. I hope you end up giving it a go :) It's a…
  • Hear hear!!! Excellent post and good luck in achieving your goals :)
  • I'm the same... my 'comfortable' running speed is about 4.5 mph and it sucks!!! I can run about 3 miles on that with no problem. I'm 5 ft and my legs are proportionately shorter to the rest of my body.... I can go about 6 mph if I cane it but it looks like I'm sprinting (and only probably for 1 mile tops)... so there you…
  • Hmmm.. sounds like a good reason to try out a new style! Lol :)
  • I totally agree with building up in them! I am still not 100% there... I can run in them fine for maybe a mile - mile and a half (I took a break in them for awhile because I was training for a race and was certain I couldn't complete it in them) but then walk for a bit then carry on. Your calves will be sore for sure for…
  • You are completely amazing for wanting to help yourself get better!!! You should be proud that you are becoming the healthy person that your body needs you to be!! And also for providing your mum with the inspiration she needs too... Well done and congratulations!!! Hope you can post an update further down the track :)
  • Hi - yes, they're stocking them at more and more places these days - I bought the Bikila LS's because they are specifically for running (although I do use them for other purposes) and because of the laces. I tried on a pair of regular Bikila's and they were a little tight across the top of my foot. It's good to get fitted…
  • Great reviews!
