I'm referring to lots of refined sugars in sodas, candy bars, junk food...of course you are going to get natural sugar in fruits.

I'm 45 and 5'2". The only things that really help me lose weight are keeping my calories at 1200 per day and working out 3-5 times per week. I use an elliptical and do weights at the gym. I don't eat my exercise calories--that's the biggie. When I do eat my exercise calories, my weight goes up or stays the same but doesn't…

Tosca Reno has a great book called the Eat Clean Diet Recharged that explains it. Basically, it involves avoiding processed foods and sugar, and eating lots of fruits/veggies/complex carbs/lean proteins--you know...all the stuff we know we need to do to be healthy anyway:smile: . I started eating clean on January 1st, and…

My son works at an Italian restaurant, and he brought home some cheesecake. He left me half of his piece with a sweet note. I ate two bites, savored them, and threw the rest away.

Had a really good week. Started back to running after being off for about a month. I ate better, too. It really helped to know the group was here for support.

My goal is to lose the 17 pounds I have gained back since I started MFP 2 years ago. I used to run regularly, and then I allowed busy-ness to keep running from being a priority. Looking forward to running long distances again.

Sweets...I am an elementary school teacher, and sweets are constantly in the lounge this time of year. I did have a NSV today. A student gave me a cupcake, and I didn't eat it. Normally I would have eaten it right away, but knowing I had my group to hold me accountable gave me willpower!

Feel free to add me, too. I'm not a student, but I am a teacher and I know the struggle of trying to fit in exercise during the school year. It is tough! Good luck to you!

Feel free to add me as a friend. I am recommitting to better health myself. :)

Feel free to add me, too. I have been at this for almost 2 years. I am looking for more active loggers as well...I just had to clean out some friends who hadn't logged on in months. It helps to have people encouraging you along the way. :)

You look wonderful! Congratulations. Your hard work paid off.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your wife. I lost my mom to cancer a few years ago, and before she passed away she told us, "do not let your dad close the curtains and stop living life." I bet your wife would have felt the same way. I have a feeling she would be very proud of your accomplishments. Keep up the great…

You are right. It is a success story. Sometimes our biggest battle isn't the scale but the struggles we have emotionally with our self-image. Congratulations on being binge/purge free for 24 days. You are a beautiful young lady, and I wish you all the best as you pursue a healthy life.

Wonderful job!

Feel free to add me, too. I have done 3 half marathons, several 5Ks, and I'd love to do a tri sometime. I am just getting back to running after a month off due to an injury, so it feels like I am starting over again. One day at a time, right?
