my fitbit one (clip on not wristband) works well. Easy to use and good integration.

my heart rate is same on gym machine as my HRM but it is probably the case that some brands etc are more reliable and I would assume that there may be variation. also many people do not set their weight etc on the gym machine which makes it not accurate. The HRM can be used in a variety of situations so useful to have…

Go Swim its a great exercise for all shapes and sizes. I felt anxious at first but nobody takes much notice. the only passing comments/ chat have been positive. Come on in the water's lovely.

I use both I am am afraid! Gym sessions = HRM general activity = fitbit. If i had to choose fitbit would win as I like the graphs etc for motivation and if you have been using a HRM I find my workouts tend to be similar in terms of burn. Usually for me they vary by less than 10 %.

Given your numbers and that you dont have that much to lose I would reduce your calorie deficit ideally set for a number above your BMR and less than TDEE. You will lose more slowly but you should expect more consistant results and have more energy. Its also much easier to stick too.

Just keep going and try to make better choices than you did before - nobody is perfect least of all me. You can have some bad foods but try to make it fit your calorie goals. I try for 80 percent clean. check your numbers the in place of a road map thread is a good read. Don't give up just get back up and keep trying…

I'm here - dealing with a family bereavment right now so a little off track but trying to gett back into the swing of things! CA

I ate 50 percent exercise calories using MFP. i now just take a deficit from my TDEE using my fitbit and HRM for exercise - to be honest numbers work out about the same but being a techie........

Protein shakes can be a useful way to bump up protein IMO. Why not try it and see if it works for you!. I have protein shakes as I find it hard to meet my protein goals otherwise ( I don't eat meat). Whey isolate is vey economical on calories depending what you mix it with. Otherwise a measured out portion of almonds is a…

they list all the cals on their menu so easy to choose. I always get the fish and chips I am afraid so not much help to you! The menu might be listed on their website?

Hi Julie I think one of the issues is that it is hard (for me at least) to apply the right advice for individual personal situation from the discussions on the forums. I would continue as you are for now. those of us with a lot to lose can take a larger deficit without stalling. I know you use a fitbit as do I. I get my…

I work with a trainer once per week - she sets me a programme at the beginning of the month that I do myself and we go through that. I like that my programme changes regularly. If I have problems with my programme I can email or discuss at my next session and any exercises that are not working for me we change up. The…

I log it using HRM and do it circuit style so circuit training could work. I want the recommendations also. I have done the cd that came with my bands bodylastics but its really cheesy.

I have started body balance (les mills) class and its tough for me! It mixes up pilates yoga and tai chi. I highly recommend trying it (you need to go 3 or 4 times to decide). Otherwise just find which of the disciplines works for you and a class /dvd that you like.

Yes - wine /beer is one of my weaknesses. I want to fit it into my lifestyle and calories how can I do that if i don't log it?

awesome difference!

i was away for the weekend and I am away from home now until after Easter. I will make better choices than in the past but I know that i want to enjoy life and cut loose a little. A diet break can be a good thing psychologically. Just get back on track now! Do not feel guilty and if you can bear it weigh - rant and pick…

I would join but I guess we will have different skys here in Europe.

Hi I am interested but not that knowledgable - my husband is the real astronomer in the household. We are both on mfp to lose weight and part of that is being more active. We did take a walk over in Greenwich incorporating the royal observatory and visiting the planetarium. We are hoping for some clear skys over Easter for…

well done fantastic difference

The scale can be mean! Just tell it its mean then pick yourself up and keep at it it will even out over time. Dont expect the big losses you got at the beginning to last - they wont. You have had a fab start this is just a little bump on the road. Be strong!

In no weights

Hi I have walked in your shoes and it gets easier. For me I got a personal trainer to work with once per week (this is pricy but gives accountability) often a trial lesson for free might be available at your gym at least try to get programme drawn up for you. Try to progress gradually and increase your daily activity…

thanks for sharing I was looking at them today but haven't taken the plunge to buy yet. Worth a try I think!
-
A bit of both to be honest. I monitor both but don't stress too much on the daily figure and try to get as close as possible and measure my weight loss against the weekly figure. With fitbit I have a sliding goal and it can change in the evening so can be difficult to hit the goal exactly on a daily basis.
