  • I just asked a dermatologist about stretch marks for my teenage son who is embarrassed by them. Anyway her response was not to waste your money. The damage is in the collagen layer of your skin and no lotions or creams will reach it. She indicated that the only solution although extreme in her opinion is laser treatments.…
  • Welcome back. Don't beat yourself up. Life happens. The important thing is you are here and you know what to do. Best of luck to you on your journey. I have personally found that when I eat too restrictive or exercise excessively that ultimately I fall off the wagon. I have had much more success making real lifestyle…
  • I very much enjoyed reading this, as it mirrors my journey. I 100% agree. It will always be a struggle. There will always be temptations, lack of motivation, self sabotage, etc..... I know you can do this and I know I can do this! I too have largely stepped away from MFP as I agree and completely understand, I need to do…
  • I believe mine is a progression of things. Growing up my older sister was always the too skinny gangly kid. I have a much bigger build than her. Her ring size is a 4 mine is a 7, her feet are a 7 while mine are a 10. We just got genes from different sides of the famiy. Anyway, when I hit junior high I had a very cute…
  • Way to go! Our journey is similar in that I set 200 as my dream goal. I am less than a pound away and it amazes me. Like you, something clicked this time. I am so happy for you as I completely get what a big deal it is. Keep on keeping on, you've got this!!
  • When starting out, I decided I was done with diets. We were going to make a lifestyle change. I logged everything every day. Just the logging increased my awareness about making better choices. This led to me eating smaller portions and fewer calories. Our motto early on was basic "eat less and move more". No big secret!…
  • Chicken breast, ground chicken, quinoa, spinach, brussel sprouts, greek yogurt, chicken broth, eggs, broccoli, avocado.
  • I'm 47 and have been through all the same struggles. Last fall I decided it was time to make a change for a healthy future. I never approached it as a diet. Small changes here and there and view it as a lifestyle change. After 8 months I am down 57#'s, exercise 4-5 times a week and feel better than ever. My husband and I…
  • My only response would be because I'm clearly not losing by under eating. It doesn't make any sense to me either, but I am looking for solutions and many others on here have suggested that you need to eat more to lose. At this point I am willing to try anything (within reason of course).
  • I appreciate the feed back from everyone. I am not basing everything on the scale, I also am not losing inches. I definitely see more toning but in terms of actual inches no change. Great article on the levels of exercise intensity. I haven't seen it laid out that clearly anywhere else. I appear to be in the vigorous…
  • All of my weight loss came when I was not exercising. I was in a cast until late January. I was on restricted activity in February (slow return to normal activity) and then cleared for exercise. I then began walking 4 miles a day, 3X a week at 4 mph. I have since switched to the elliptical stairclimber and biking which I…
  • I alternate between riding my bike, and elliptical stairclimber. I use my heart monitor for calories burned. I have been to multiple activity websites and calculated the expected caloric burn for these activities just as a means of double checking. I actually log lower than all other means have suggested and btw I do…
  • Yes, I have been doing this since October and am very diligent about my food. I weigh and measure and count everything. I initially had my calories at 1200 but I was also in a cast so activity was very limited. I slowly increased them to 1700. I mentally have a hard time upping another 300 calories. And yes, these…
  • Yes, I have my goals set on MFP for 1# loss per week, and working out 4 X a week for 45 minutes. The calorie goal is in alignment with what I see on my fitbit for a 1# loss per week as well based on my actual activity. My weight loss had already stalled, thus leading to the thought that I wasn't eating enough. That is why…
  • I am aware of the restaurant variations and usually account for it. I lost my first 52#'s doing the same things. I don't understand what has stalled my loss. I appreciate your reply though.
  • Sorry, apparently I opened my profile not my diary. It is open now.
  • Sorry, should be open now.
  • Yes, it happens to everyone. The difference between those who meet their goals and those who don't is how you respond. When you dive off the deep end do you continue along that path because you've already "messed up" or do you take corrective action and move forward. I agree with the poster above. Draw a line and move on.…
  • Yes, and I find they always want to determine what type of diet you are on. Even after saying we have just changed our lifestyle to eat healthy and be more active they will ask if we are eating low carb, low fat, this diet or that diet. They just can't seem to accept that we just make healthy choices and nothing is out of…
  • "want to" is the big factor in weight loss. Good for you in taking on a fitness routine that works for you as well. You can do this and you know you can. Add me if you want, I am more than happy to provide meaningful support and love having the support of other committed individuals. I really enjoy celebrating the changes…
  • I stayed up too late last night watching a movie with my currently at home college kids. Got up and went to the gym this morning anyway! It was one of those tough workouts both mentally and physically, 5th workout this week and overtired. You know it's going to be a loooong workout when you are telling yourself you are…
in NSVs anyone?? Comment by lklkl5 May 2013
  • OMG I love them. Most mornings I have scrambled egg beaters, with a slice of swiss cheese melted on top (fyi: buttery lacey swiss is quite low in sodium), diced avocado on top and chipotle salsa. Yum! Look forward to it every day!

  • Anyone feel free to add me. I'm 47, happily married for 24 years and 3 kids 21,19, and 15. The older two are attending school away from home so things have slowed down significantly. Trying to be fabulous 40's! It may be harder to lose weight in your forties but with the age comes a lot more experience and maturity. No…
  • I am just going to respond with a little bit of my experience. I lost 46 #'s in 6 months with an injured foot in a cast. My cast came off and I could finally add in more exercise. My weight loss stopped! I stuck with it for more than 2 months, up and down the same 2 #'s. I have read on here about increasing calories and…
