  • Well- you guys will appreciate this...I was literally at day 330, and got my period this morning. The day before we are supposed to leave on a beach vacation. Not sure whether to laugh or cry...
  • Feel free to add me. I’m bad about logging food, but I do log in and exercise every day.
  • Hi. New to this group and at 9 months now. I hope this is it. I have to say I feel completely different and much better than I did for the two years before. Ages 48 and 49 were a mess emotionally, and my boobs were bigger and hurt all the time. Periods stopped abruptly as soon as I turned 50, which is a nice consolation…
  • It is there- under Hatha yoga, yoga, or vinyasa yoga in the cardio section. Not sure about the calorie burn aspect as it varies quite a bit.

  • SW this challenge: 130 CW: 127.5 GW 2/14:125 So far so good. Headed to Cancun as I type this, so we’ll see how the next 5 days go. Hoping beach walking and yoga every morning will balance out a margarita or two...
  • Yoga before bed has helped my sleep a ton. You can look up poses that activate the parasympathetic nervous system- forward folds and gentle twists, with intentional breathing. I had several months of very disrupted sleep, and now it’s back to restful.
  • I think such a big change can definitely wreak havoc on your system, or it could be a stomach bug, other things. Since none of us here are your doctor, a call to your physician is totally in order. I know it can be a PITA to navigate the health care system, so it’s tempting to reach out online, but you are in pain.…
  • Feel free to add me. Not new to MFP but re-energized to be better about logging food and exercise, eat clean.
  • Brisk walking with kid(s) in carrier and/or stroller. When my littlest ones were babies I did the 30-day shred, a 20 min workout while they were napping. Of course this is not what you feel like doing with a few minutes to yourself, but it is very effective. I also used to keep hand weights in the kitchen to get a quick…
  • What happens every time I roll out my yoga mat. Does this count? He probably looks better on it than I do...
  • Well, good news. I lost 1lb since I started logging and calorie restricting around Dec. 28th. I know this does not sound super exciting, but I measured my waist and have lost 1.5 inches! I’ve been hiking and doing a yoga practice daily, so I am probably building muscle. Feeling optimistic!
  • My go to smoothie is 1c almond milk 1/4 c hemp hearts 2 tbsp orange juice 2c mixed greens, baby spinach ( sometimes kale but less of this because bitter) 6 or 8 baby carrots 1/2 scoop amazing grass green superfood 1 banana 3 strawberries Ginger, cinnamon and clove powder Whatever fruit or veggie in the frig that needs to…
  • Thank you for posting the frame calculator! This has helped me make sense of why BMI has always seemed inaccurate for me!
  • Add me! Not new to mfp, but newly motivated friends will help keep me on track!
  • I’m in. I think 5# by Valentine’s day is a more reasonable goal for me since I am trying to build muscle at the same time. We are going to Cancun on the 18th but I am committed to not pigging out on vacation. CW: 130 GW: 125 Anyone is also welcome to add me. I’ve been on mfp for awhile, but most of my friends have dropped…
  • Since I turned 50 it seems like my body wants to add belly fat and lose muscle mass even though I’m the same weight I have been. I feel like I keep needing to raise the exercise bar and lower calories to maintain. What are your walking shoes like? Perhaps it’s time for a new pair, and if you went from zero to 3 miles maybe…
  • I am also around 1500, feel free to add me!
  • Whatever your smoothie, experiment with adding some cinnamon and ginger, or other “warm” spices during the winter. Delish.
  • Opening people’s eyes to contemplate food choices and the benefits of eating whole food over processed junk is a good thing. That’s really the only positive thing I have to say about it.
  • Lilredcat, I feel ya! I have three kids ( 9,5,3) , and it is so frustrating to feel like a short order cook. It's helped me to make a menu at the beginning of the week, with input from everyone on the shopping list. I make sure there is something on the menu that each kid likes for the meal, and they are required to take a…
  • The best thing I found to do was put the baby in a backpack and walk, preferably up and down hills if you can, every day. Other workouts can be hard to fit in with a little one.
  • I really like the 15 minute ab workout in Bob Harper's Yoga for the Warrior. It's made a huge difference in my (post 3 kids!) belly tone. The yoga workout is good, but the ab workout alone is worth the 10 bucks!
  • I know exactly what you mean, OP. I see a lot of women carrying more weight than I do, and they look curvy and terrific. If I carry extra weight, I don't get that cute, curvy, hourglass look- I get a belly and a muffin top. I think a lot of it is youth plus genetics, as others have mentioned.
  • I was just thinking about this, as I really love having a glass of wine while I am cooking dinner, but sometimes it would turn into two or three. I decided to go alcohol free for a few months and started Jan 1st. I don't miss it as much as I thought I would, but I do find I need some kind of "reward" so I switched to a cup…
  • I'm in! I've committed to no alcohol for 3 months. I'm less concerned about calories than just feeling like having a couple of drinks at night is just sapping my motivation and overall energy. So far I feel great!
  • "No matter what the issue, start by coming up with a plan." Sounds strange and a bit simplistic, but this was the best advice ever. I always come back to these words in work, relationships, parenting, health and fitness, and staying calm in a crisis. It keeps the focus on the path. The plan is in no way set in stone and…
  • Anyone can add me. I am not new, just recommitting to getting on here every day. I was definitely at my best when I was consistently logging last summer and looking forward to feeling that way again!
  • Anyone can add me!
  • My favorite is OJ 0.5cup, Coconut milk 0.5 cup, baby spinach 1 cup, baby carrots 5, banana 1/2, apple 1/2, flax seed 1 tbsp, hemp hearts 3 tbsp, Vitamineral green powder 1 tbsp. I add a little water to make it a little less thick.
  • I could never drop the last 10 lbs while nursing. I breastfed 3 kids for about 20 months each. I figured out that doing an hour of cardio daily and circuit training with weights helped with body recomposition- ie: losing the belly and muffin top, gaining some muscle mass- was what worked for me. But I never really got my…
