  • I use unsweetened Almond milk for Mash a lot. You can also use Ghee instead of margarine. Margarine will likely be inflammatory for his IBS.
  • This year i'm trying a bit of some different recipes. Still doing Turkey! Trying a different recipe for green beans (Green beans with fig vinaigrette) Butternut squash puree (rather than mash or sweet potatoes/hams). Sausage, apple and squash casserole (in lieu of my famous stuffing) and maybe creamed spinach. This is a…
  • Find what works for you. Med is quite good though, in general, AND you can still be pretty Veggie on Med. Maybe check out some of the recipes and meal ideas, stick to fresh veggies and try a bit of fish in your diet. I would not do bread and limit pasta. So try like a low carb (at least processed carbs) mediterranean diet,…
  • Just finished my first year in my 40s.... Maybe I can get some pointers from you guys about being 40 and losing weight...
  • I don't know! I haven't checked any message boards in awhile. I just wrote a blog entry (mainly to help focus my thoughts) and thought i'd check boards while I was actually on, on a computer! Usually i'm on a device (ipad, phone...) Maybe there's just not many in around Southampton :(

  • There's lots of UK people! While I am an American in the UK... not sure where I fit in.. But i have a few on my list from UK
  • I got a couple of kittens and one was black cat. I didn't want to name him stupid "normal" black cat names. So his name is Pugsley! And his sister is Wednesday  She has the little white collar and cuffs on her paws to fit that name too! So yeah... I had a friend who named his cat Cat... and other one that named his…
  • I have PCOS and I just started my new medications for it. I have not had any luck whatsoever losing weight over the last 2-3 years. My doc liked my idea of eating paleo and my naturopath recommended gluten free and no dairy. So might want to look into those.
  • For me: it would depend on the quality or how the item is. Some people lose weight, and their clothes don't fit anymore. Nothing is wrong with those items, so why not donate or sell to someone who could use it? I know some of my fitness clothes have gotten stretched out and especially some of my older stuff... So I…
  • I've been pondering going back to Weight Watchers. My main motivation is the accountability and support. I do have some here, (Don't get me wrong my lovely MFPeers) but having some more "live" support would be helpful. The new WW program is very selective now I guess. It has various types of diets? Anyone seen the new…

  • I have found I rather enjoy a sweet potato hash, with onions, bell peppers, cookedup in some olive oil! And a couple of nice, nitrate free, filler free sausages! And a nice glass of Orange Juice. I was bad this morning though and had an apple danish. Bad idea!
  • I've done both. I liked going to the Gym because of the fewer distractions. Like right now, my home workout space is cluttered with books and stuff I am trying to repack and sort through. Both locations have their benefits. But At least at home, you have control over television observation (if you watch TV while on machine…
  • Is that how it keeps track of the steps? That doesn't make much sense really... I clean during the day, so would that mess up my count? I dont' have a fitbit yet, but my mom has talked me into one. I do pilates and cycling as well. So, i'm hoping to use it for pedometer for curious for my work activity (walking, cleaning…
  • I think the one she was going to get me was the bracelet one. I forget what it is called. I'm curious how it is able to count the steps! My mom is doing 15000 steps a day. She will only go to where it buzzes her! hahaha. She thinks its motivating. Accountability is always good for me as well. I'm not sure i'd do as well…
  • I am a veteran of weight watchers! I lost quite a bit several years ago, when they had their Core Program. I STILL Love that one today. But they renamed it and refenagled it to power foods ors omething or other. not sure what they call it now. I really liked weight watchers, especially the support I got. I went religiously…
  • This happens to me frequently. mostly when I want a dr pepper! I have good days and I have awful days (kind of like today... but today could have been worse!). I know very well the lack of support. I live with my MIL and she's awful. she always has some kind of sweet in the house. I mainly have a weakness to shortbreads...…
  • Coconut milk is pretty good. I still prefer almond but both are good. I love to make smoothies too, as it's easy awesome way to get in veggies and such. I'm trying to put more veggies than fruit in mine. Just because more vitamins that way. I don't really do them for breakfast anymore. My stomach wasn't really liking them…
  • Probably an old topic, but I thought i'd share a couple ideas I have found recently. I don't know if you eat bread, but I found this that is not bad but interesting to say the least! It's a STrawberry and avacado toastie. It's two slices of bread (GF or sourdough is preferred, per recipe) 1/2 avocado, mashed with squeeze…
  • I also try my best to eat clean but i'm not very successful! You are welcome to add me. Today's journal is not a good example of my usual eating habits! (more like old habits). I could use support as well! If you want some awesome recipe ideas, I have several. WOuld it be worth posting them in the forum?
  • Try a vanilla Chai tea or try a coffee with a sugar free vanilla syrup or flavour instead. Those should be fairly acceptable replacements. The FF Coffeemate isn't a bad idea either.
  • You're funny LrdofLamancha! ;) Anything with GMO ingredients, high frutose Corn syrup... so most American sweeties and foods! Almost all artificial sweetners are fairly toxic, especially Aspartame. Ace-K makes me ill. Anything rotting down in a very bad way...
  • I rode a Honday 750 Shadow Spirit... It's with my dad right now and the carburetor is frozen.. so it needs love... :(
  • Excellent work! And Congrats on the placement! :) You are definitely an inspiration!
  • Honestly, I think the Depo Provera shot is evil! I had very very bad reactions to it. I gained about 30 pounds in a month! I also became very suicidal, to the point of putting myself into a mental clinic for a few days. Try that on for weight gain! Second shot really did me in for weight and emotional stability. I would…
  • I'm not British but I live in the South of England! I noticed a lot more people are up north! I don't even think I saw any down in the southern area. If anyone comes down this way, my hubby and I enjoy cycling if anyone would like to join us sometime!
  • Here's another argument: On my elliptical it has my stats in it. and so does MFP. But the calorie burned difference is quite significant. I"ll get like 400 on MFP record but I only get 180 on the elliptical. I can try to use the heart rate monitor but i'd just be another measurement. Just throwing that out there since she…
  • Try eating a banana or something super light before going out. I am borderlined, where I should eat something, but if I eat my breakfast, it would make me very sick and probably throw up. So try something light, and you should be okay. Piece of fruit is good or a granola bar would be a good suggestion. Just beware of…
  • My trainer is great! Her name is Lindsey Downing. She's actually one of my friends on here. If you're interested, I can send you her number. I am not sure how busy her schedule is but she can definitely work with you on a timing and can work with you on here as well.
