  • ^ Agreed! OP - I have many of the same problems as you. My foot specialist will often submit the cost of new running shoes with my orthotics, and so far insurance has approved it. As far as being injury prone - I can't count the number of times I've sprained my ankles and knees, usually because my feet were not support…
  • I am a big fan of Ashtanga yoga, but really did NOT enjoy the Bikram class I took. I couldn't handle the humidity. I had to leave the room and almost blacked out. But I don't handle heat very well and am a bit prone to fainting. The two friends I went with did just fine, but it wasn't for them either.
  • You can never be to old! Years ago, my mom taught one of my grandmother's friends to dive - before then she was a wading/shallow-end lady. She wanted to impress the grandkids when they came to visit. At the tiny community centre I go to - there are no adult learn to swim classes at the moment. I think the one guy must be…
  • Can you dry some of it to save it for later?
  • Wow, these stories make the plastic wrapped chicken in my sandwich seem tame. I just checked MFP before going to get a snack - I'm not hungry at all anymore. The bandaid story made me queasy!
  • Congratulations! I was a maid of honour last month, the bride had recently at least 20lbs and didn't have time to get the dress altered. We just laced it up as much as we could without getting weird puckers in the the fabric. She was more concerned that the dress wouldn't fit her new size correctly. The photographer at the…
  • ^^ Yes! and also baba ghanoush
  • you mean McEnema's or Toxic Hell? no thanks! But there is something about the smell of KFC. I love the smell! I'm pretty sure they just pump the aroma into the air and it has nothing to do with what is actually being cooked there.
  • My co-workers and I do it 3x a week, every second day. We finished it last month and just started back at the beginning. I can't believe the difference! I was a gasping heap on the ground at then end of each one the first round through, and now it's not bad at all. I did a lot of the modified exercises the first time, and…
  • My sister-in-law eats almost the same things. On the upside it makes her a cheap date to bring to a restaurant. I joke about her "white" food diet. Since all the foods are white-ish in colour. Even the cheese better be a pale cheddar or mozzarella. She won't eat pasta at all, but she is seriously thinking about trying it…
  • I don't know what size pant I wear - because I've taken in ALL of my dress pants and ended up cutting out all the size tags!
  • I haven't had that side effect from the Mirena (and really hope I don't!!) but I agree with the posts above - better support. I tried on the UnderArmour one and it was SUPER supportive, but I still like my Nike one best because of the racer back.
  • I'm not a fitness buff by any stretch! But I've been doing the Jillian Michaels videos and wanted something that was more for strength. I've just started doing some of the exercises and found this book had some really interesting information. You are your own gym - by Mark Lauren…
  • I love all the comparison threads! Helps with my motivation!
  • I like the egg muffins as well. I make mine with lots of broccoli and a little bacon and cheese. I'll make up a dozen or so on the weekend and then freeze most of them.
  • ^^ Yes! I got mine at the beginning of Oct and the first couple weeks were amazing! Sort of leveled out now, but still higher than when I was on the pill. For me, part of it is not being worried about pregnancy - I was always terrible about taking the pill on time. I wanted to get the Mirena 3 years ago but I had to wait…
  • The only time I didn't take it as a compliment - I went to a new Doctor and gave my ID to the receptionist. She took a quick look at the photo and said "Congratulations on losing all that weight!!" in a loud voice. Except I hadn't lost any weight. I was actually heavier than I was in the photo. The photo was just that bad!
  • My dad is an orthopedic surgeon - and you can't get the man out of his crocs! They even gave them out at one of the conferences he went to.
  • No wonder you allowed your picture taken with your dog - He's gorgeous! Such a huge accomplishment - way to go!
  • ^^This^^ If you just completed the Body Revolution you must be strong! I'm actually reading the postings because I'm procrastinating on doing number 9!!! I've been doing it over 6 months instead of 3 because I only do it 3x a week.
  • I love my dehydrator! I don't really like the dried bananas, but my husband loves them. I like the apple slices covered in cinnamon, I dip them in lemon juice and water to prevent browning. I give the screens a quick rub with oil to help prevent sticking. Strawberries were delicious, but time consuming to chop up. We also…
  • I'm working on the same thing. And I'm trying to follow the advice that's already been posted - consistency and patience! I'm started to use weights more and use the measuring tape more. I haven't seen a change in the scale for a couple weeks, but I feel a lot better in my clothes!
  • 22 inches in 4 weeks! That's amazing!
  • The only must for me is a really good racer back sports bra. My t-shirt is usually a wicking one, and snug enough it's not going to ride up much or flop around.
  • Love it! I think you hit the nail on the head with the part about avoiding injuries as we age.
  • I wish I could find the link again, but I recently read on another blog (Gail Vaz Oxlade- Other voices) how the poster was going through the effects of withdrawal from sweeteners. So you aren't the only one! She was consuming about the same amount of sweetener and stopped cold turkey.
  • My mom told me it never occurred to her to say "i love you" to us until she heard my Aunt say it every night to my cousins when we were visiting. It wasn't something she ever heard as a kid. I was too young to remember my mom not saying it though. My mom and her sisters have a TON of issues with my grandmother for a whole…
  • What about swimming? I used to sprain my ankles almost every summer during soccer, I used a LOT of balance & wobble board exercises to strengthen them.
  • I LOVE sag aloo! This site is great: http://www.quickindiancooking.com/recipes/
