As another poster mentioned, CrossFit doesn't necessarily hit every lift every week, which is important for progressive overload. Have you looked for another CrossFit "type" gym? I found a great gym in my area that's CrossFit-esque as in there is a WOD, MetCon type training, but they have a schedule, mon, wed, fri is…

Wow- great progress. I'm also 5'11 and love lifting. What is your after weight?? It's so hard as a tall girl to visualize goal weights...

bump- you ladies are awesome!

I broke my toe 2 years ago (which took 8 months to heal) :'( and was in a boot for over 4 months. I didn't work out at all but lost 45lbs during that time due to diet alone. Sorry I can't be more helpful with exercises but wanted to let you know that there is hope!

you look great! how tall are you? We have almost the same starting (pre mfp) and current weights and I'm 5'11 and and hoping I look as fab as you do now!

try the search feature- look for the thread about women lifting heavy. They always have a lot of B/A pics and many are going from healthy to fit/toned. And lifting heavy is def the route to go- it rocks!!

weight loss really is all about what you eat.. body composition (what that weight looks like) happens in the gym. I've unfortunately crushed (according to my doctor) a bone in my foot and have been unable to workout (or even really walk) since May 13th and have at least another month until it's completely healed and I've…

Don't stress if you can't lift the bar, you can totally work up to that! Until then, start with dumbbells say 10 lbs (an olympic bar weighs 45 lbs) so grab your dumbbells and grab a bench and perform the exercise just like you would if you were using the bar.

Thanks for the advise on the bench everyone! Today was deadlift day: Squat: 5x5 - 105 lbs OHP 5,5,5,5,3 - 60 lbs Deadlift 1x5 - 170 lbs Didn't have time for any accessory work today but am going to try to make it to a 5:15 spin class as I'm travelling for work the next few days and probably won't be able to work out…

Workout A today: Squats: 5x5 @ 100lbs Bench: 5,5,5,5,4 @80lbs Rows:5x5 @ 83lbs I probably could have squeezed out another rep of bench but ever since I failed last summer (safely) I'm a little nervous to. QUESTION: technically this was my third "fail" at 80 lbs so the app wants me to move to 70 for my next workout.…

I spin 3 times a week for 45 minutes and am completely wiped out after! Much more so than with lifting... so I feel your pain

for jeans I've been loving buckle lately... I don't like ANYTHING else in the store but their jeans are fantastic and carry up to 37" inseam- they will also hem for free!! Just something to think about when you're at your goal weight... go online if they don't have a store near you. I'm also all legs and Old Navy and NY&Co…

- Barney- do you ever stretch your hip flexor before lifting? My sister's strength coach MAKES them do this stretch before squats and she showed it to me when I was having trouble hitting parallel. It helps a lot..

Workout A today! Squats- 100 lbs 5x5 first time at this weight- felt heavy form felt good but want to stay here at least one more workout before moving up in weight Bench- 80 lbs 5x5 this was tough- need to repeat this weigh Rows- 83lb x5x5x4x5x3 this was REALLY hard and I could feel that my form took a hit. I was also…

Hello! I'm not new to SL but newer to the group and def new to posting... Squats-5x5 @ 95 lbs OHP-4x5 and 1x3 @ 60 lbs Deadlift- 1x5 @ 135 lbs 1x5 @ 165lbs OHP was really shaky on the last set and only did 3 reps. Deadlifts felt great! Today was the first time using a different grip and I really liked it.

My boyfriend is a super catholic and I'm in the same boat with cooking during the season. Does not liking seafood include shrimp? He eats shrimp but not salmon I don't like white fish.. it can be tricky.. Wednesday we I made Bang Bang Shrimp from SkinnyTaste and he loved it! Also- we are doing homemade veggie pizza tonight…

My dietician told me that the whole wheat option was the way to go. it's not about the carb count but the way your body processes it (I think). She also said look for whole wheat not just wheat. The most eye opening thing I got from her is that "wheat bread is just white bread with a tan" Also- many companies will…

That happened to me and on the advise of a friend on mfp I tightened the strap and haven't had an issue since.

Great job gothy! I have an app on my phone that takes photos and makes a timeline for you and I've been dreading taking another one as I've put one a few (ok 6) from the holidays. But you've inspired me to take it this week!

I'm in! I'll add you- I do stronglifts for strength and spin for cardio

I'm on Topomax as a preventative for Migraines but it's also a medication for bipolar disorder (in a different strength) and causes loss of appetite as a side efffect. After the initial "whoa look how strong I am adding weight every week" my lifts have stalled considerably and yes it can be frustrating. I am losing weight…

Just going to continue to say what everyone else is saying- lift heavy! My back has smoothed out dramatically (and I didn't really consider it a huge trouble zone) and I don't even have any rolls when I turn sideways to take a profile progress pic at 200+ pounds do it!

my crock pot (crockpot brand) automatically turns to the "warming" setting if I don't turn it off after the diesignated time. So if I'm gone longer than 8 hours, when I get home the house smells yummy, my food is cooked (not crispy) and warm.. and the house isn't burned down. So far it's worked for me...

I get this a lot!! My sister is a division 1 athlete and has a dedicated weight lifting coach. He has them do this specific stretch before they squat: I also do this before squatting and it helps a lot! I've read that groin tighness with back squats is fairly common...

Great job!! I've dislocated my knee a few times (first at 12) with surgery. I don't have too much trouble with squats but don't do deadlifts.. keep up the great work!!
