Go in with a plan. Keep a small notebook if you lift so you can see progress. Change it up every 8 weeks or so. Get in amongst the free weights, don't be self-conscious. Who cares if there are lots of guys? Get a trainer to at least help you set up a program, if you're not confident to do it yourself. One session will save…

Calorie dense things, when I'm at home. I don't bother with veggies and the like.

Some mornings, it's two hard boiled eggs and an ounce of cheese. Sometimes, an ounce of almonds, a banana and a tangerine (that was today.) Sometimes it's greek yoghurt with stevia and either nuts or fruit. Sometimes it's 50 grams of oats, 20g of a 'brunch' mix of nuts, coconut, dried berries and seeds, and sometimes it's…

There's no good answer. Your age is in your favour. Slower weight loss will help, but how you carry your fat (so how much and where your skin is stretched in the first place), your genetics, your history of yo-yo dieting, your history of smoking, whether or not you've had a baby and other factors influence whether or not…

Oh! FOWL stuff you say! Make sure you include fried chicken. Mmm...chicken....nomnomnom.

To be fair, I said if you don't want them, don't have them. Love your internet tough gal thing though. Aweseme. *highfive*

Outrage duly noted. Breeders gonna breed, amirite? I have a kid, as it happens. I just don't think having kids is the big special payoff for being female. Don't want'em, don't breed'em.
-
Don't have babies. It's not a requirement (although society would have you think so). Plenty of other folks out there breeding, no reason for you to do it if you don't want to. Many, many people are childfree.

And how is this helpful to the original poster?

Ok, so my experience is - and I started lifting about 10kgs into my loss - is that lifting heavy + light cardio is the go. I am 46kgs (103lbs) down, and yes it has taken me three years but I chose to maintain for various reasons most of last year, rather than continue. I have lost 10kgs (or 22lbs) since Jan 1st or so as I…

I've learned that if you ask for some background to understand why someone is asserting something as true, you will get either whackjob diet sites, Dr Oz, or simply told that you don't need a cite for 2+2=4, why do you need a cite for this? This is true even when you have not disagreed with the person. Weird.

I would agree that you are at a point in your weight loss that you can no longer run a 1K deficit without it being detrimental to other areas of your life. When you are larger you have more room in your diet to run larger deficits. If you want quality of life, you have to eat enough to support that and still be at some…

Is your doctor putting you on the protein diet? If so, he should recommend one. Will probably be Optifast, but ask him. If this is your plan independent of him, I'd say firstly, keep doing what you're doing - log your calories (I can't see if you are, your diary is locked). Make sure you really are eating 1500. Secondly,…

Confess to have not looked at the location, merely the occupation. I also confess to wandering slowly by the firehouse occaionally. :)

No, it's not inevitable, but it is possible. It has happened to me, it doesn't happen to others. Some will say that slower weight loss will prevent it, but that's BS. It depends on age, genetics, how often you yo-yo dieted, and your body in particular. I suspect in your case, you should just lose the weight and find out.…

No, but you do live back of Bouke, and I'm latte sipping city Green, so there's that.

So did I, wow I should not have done that! Ladies, don't let the good looking uniform blind you if he's obviously a complete loser. :)

Try larb gai - leave the toasted rice out. It's ground meat so less expensive. Larb gai 500g ground (chicken or beef or pork or veal) Coriander to taste - fresh is better, dried ok Basil to taste - fresh is better, dried ok 1 stalk of lemongrass, if you can get some 1 lemon 1 onion - red is pretty but all onions ok 1 red…

Excuse: I can't go to the gym because people at the gym are mean and judgy! They will say mean things to me and look at me and stuff. Ok...*rolls eyes* Have been to many gyms and although I am less of a Fatty McFatperson today, I'm still a great big fat girl, and I have never once had anybody say anything to me. I'd…

My only concern is that I will lose the ability to stay active and keep lifting heavy things. I'm due for some quite serious back surgery in the next couple of years that will restrict my ability to exercise (but make the pain stop, so there's that.) Terrified that I'll regain. Or just that I'll get skinny fat and have…

The only food police I encounter are here on the forums. Apparently, I'm gonna die no matter what I eat or avoid, so I ignore them.

Any sort of peer reviewed studies on this?

I agree! It was easy to shop at the fat girl stores, because frankly there's only two or three of them and all the clothes look the same. (Sidenote: Dear Fat Girl Stores, please stop putting big flowers and fru fru trim on blouses because sometimes we want a plain one.) A year ago when I hit regular sizes for the first…

You friend told you she read it in a women's mag...ok, then. It's a big internet out there, go have a look around. No, its not true. Eat what you want, eat less calories than you burn, and you will lose weight whether the calories are made of biscuits or broccoli. You probably know by now (but again, go have a look) that…

I walk. :) I go first thing, three days a week. If I don't go then, I can't go - I have work and then I have university commitments. So I set the alarm, my husband gets up and walks the dogs - so he's up, the dogs are up, the cats are up, so I guess I'm up, too. I lay out my gym clothes, pack my food and my gym bag the…
