  • Thanks, yes the doctor has cleared me. I am working on strengthening the shoulder. I checked out the two variations you mentioned but they still require my "holding" the bar with my arms, which, when followed by the step ups (holding 50lbs) my arms are exhausted before my legs. . . feels as though they are being pulled…

  • You are absolutely right, I can't get my hands there either to place the bar properly or to hold it for balance. . . : (

  • I do belong to a gym. . but even with the smith machine I have to hold the weight and I can't get my left hand up to where the bar sits on my shoulders. . .

  • Hi, I am Sam - 57, female - married for 27 years with 5 children and 10 grandchildren, ages 16 to 2 years. I work out most days of the week at 5am with my daughter before work. We are just finishing Stage 1 - workouts A & B and getting ready to start the next set of exercises. Just in time too, we are bored senseless of…
  • I have always had great, muscular calves and I am proud of them!! Probably the most fit part of my body!! I have worn 3" heels my entire adult life (I am pushing 57) which has contributed to the shape of my calves as much of my work has required standing/walking most of the day. Before working out a lot, wearing flat soled…
  • Thanks for sharing. . . . I don't feel quite as bad (still embarrassed though)!
  • I am in, a first time for me!! My goals will be to continue with a "clean" eating plan and to not miss any NROLFW workouts! I have to find some good recipes for all the guests we have at the lake in the summer; the ole potato salad and other heavy, fat stuff won't work this year!! Sam, (female) Central Michigan
  • Absolutely, I just bought a new dress while on vacation to wear to a wedding this summer. I live in Michigan and bought the dress in Florida, I can not return it. I could barely get it on in the dressing room because it was so tight, but it has gotten me back on track. The wedding is for a former co-worker and there will…
  • AWESOME, great work and great job "pushing" towards your goals!!
  • Go - have a great time and do not worry about "fitting"!!! You will be fine, don't let a silly worry like that cause you one bit of stress!! :drinker:
  • Early riser here too!! I get up at 4-4:15 to get to the gym by 5am when they open. It's a half hour drive but I get to work out with my daughter so it is well worth it. Then I have the entire rest of the day to not have to think about getting my work out in. Quite often a friend likes to walk in the evenings so I get a…
  • I did check out and joined one of the groups but it is very large and "locked". Not sure if anyone will answer my question??
  • I also work out at 5am, get up at 4 so that I have time to get ready and drive 30 minutes to the gym!! I do not eat but I drink a cup of coffee on the way and some water. I finally get to eat about 2 hours after my workout, usually around 9 am!! It seems to work fine and I don't have an issue. In fact, it was suggested to…
  • Gorgeous shoes, but I think the second pair is a bit more "frumpy" than the first pair. And I am an old lady!!!
  • I travel to the gym at least three days a week. The days I don't make the hour trip, I work out at home or outside, still trying to maintain a couple of rest or light days for recovery. Us old gals need the recovery time!! I also consume less calories on the rest days!!!

  • The best "cure" for me is a steady 2+ mile run!!! Works every time but never before 2 miles!!!
  • And there you have it, in a nutshell, concise and easy to understand. Save yourself hours and hours of the message boards!!!
  • You are most definitely not the only one. . . . . count me in too!!
  • Awesome, how lucky that you have each other and are taking this journey together!!! Congratulations on your success thus far and I am certain you will continue!!! You both look fantastic!!
  • Run, very fast and very far!!!!
  • I had my gall bladder removed approximately 5 years ago and have never noticed any difference in the foods that I can eat. There is no food that I can't eat. I did notice an obvious difference in how I felt overall after cutting all processed foods and wheat. . . . . might be well worth a try!
  • Thanks, there have been some good responses. We (my daughter and I) have been working out very hard since January after both being out of it for a couple of years. She had a child and I just got older!! I am 57 and she is 34, she weights about 50 lbs less than I do and I am at 192 lbs. We change up our routine almost daily…
  • :drinker: This - but only on the weekends because it is alcohol!!! Bailey's or Carolan's!!!!
  • Can I assume then that my daughter is getting the correct nutrition and, therefore, does not feel soreness a day after a strenous workout. And that I might not be eating properly and get sore??? Not sure that this makes sense to me???
  • Love this response. . . yes!!!
  • I have three small ones; all on my feet/ankles as I didn't get the first until well over 40!! I had to make sure they couldn't "drift" too far down!! On right ankle a non-specific design - on my right middle toe a tribal to ring ( doesn't completely connect cause it hurt like hell under there) and a pink ribbon on…
  • Option for the banana???? I simply do not like banana in my smoothies, they make the texture nice but it overpowers the taste of everything else!!
