I'm one of the few girls that lifts free weights when I'm at the gym. I have my lifts preplanned and if I see weights on my next lift I'll skip it and kind of keep an eye to see if anyone is using it. If no one has touched it after my next lift I go take it. It takes me anywhere from 15-25 minutes to get through a set…

Yeah the injury was pure stupidity on my part....who runs in the rain in flip flops?? lol. But as soon as they said it wasn't broken then on to the Tough Mudder I went. I wrapped it as best as I could to keep the mud out but it was a futile attempt. I couldn't wear tennis shoes for about 2 months afterwords.

Anything other then completing the race was not an option. I saw at least 2 broken ankles and I heard about a broken nose from people just running blindly up and down that mud. I had hubby (an EMT) with me so I felt confident...plus I had my own personal medical staff on hand.

I ran (limped from spraining my foot 2 days earlier) on Sat @ 12:20 and loved it!!! Funky Monkey was the only obstacle I failed at. Even made it up Everest on the first try. Weren't those trails killer though!?!??!?! And ENDLESS!!!

Honestly all I 've ever done is maybe three 5k's a year. There isn't any real distance running. Best advice I can give is TRAIL RUN, TRAIL RUN and when you're tired....MUDDY TRAIL RUN. There is lots of help from fellow mudders to help get you over the walls and such.

And u now have an infection in my foot. Ugh. Oh well. I'd do it again in a minute!
-
If I can do it then you definitely can. It's mostly mind over matter.

Oh and the only reason I look semi-clean in this pic is cuz I rinsed off before getting on the bus back to parking.

Well I also managed to sprain my right foot the Thursday before my event....but guess what..I did it and finished!!! Let's see things I didn't like Berlin walls, Mt Everest, and Blades of glory. Only because they have caused the most bruising from climbing over them. Everything else was ok. Got shocked 7x on the electric…

Feel free to add me. I can be a friend....unless I die on Saturday. I started at 195 (185 for MFP) and currently am about 165. I'm 5'7" and the dying refers to I'm competing in the Tough Mudder on Saturday. Hoping to survive!

Mine is scheduled for next Saturday (8/24) in St Clairsville OH (but it's the Pittsburgh TM). I'm starting to get nervous! I've been working out since January (prob not hard enough) and I'm dreading the walls and arctic enema. I can run/walk 5 miles easily in about an hour - with hills so the cardio isn't a worry since…

Dt Pepsi is my crutch. And yes it did taste a little bitter in the beginning but I can't touch regular Pepsi now...Holy SWEET!! But I'm down almost 20# since January and I still average about 1 a day. I'm also sitting here sucking down my 2nd glass of cold brew iced tea with Splenda :)

Guilty!!! I admire my legs frequently while at the gym - especially during squats (currently at 95# x5). They've always been my favorite body part on me.

I've been in Sauconys for over a year. To the point I have a running pair and then when I need a new pair the old becomes my every day shoe. I even mow my grass in an old pair. I'm acutally due for a new pair soon, but I think I'll wait until the end of august after I destroy this pair in the Tough Mudder. The ones on my…

Just a note, work UP to your TDEE - 20%. Don't just jump straight there or you will gain a little before losing and that can be depressing. Even a little gain upfront is ok...just your body resetting itself.
-
What they all said. I'm 5'7" female @ 165# (started at 185#) TDEE is about 1998 and -20% is 1598 - I selected light exercise (1-3x/week) in case I don't make it to the gym. I have MFP set for 1650 and have lost the 20# since 1/9/13 (started TDEE about 2/1/13). So that sounds about right for you.
