  • Uh, sorry to burst your bubble, but agave "nectar" is NOT all natural. It is a relatively new, very highly processed syrup. Nutritionally, it is essentially the same as high fructose corn syrup, only it's made from a different plant than corn. All the "organic," "raw," "pure," "natural," "nectar," descriptions are purely…

  • I'm really into cold overnight oats these days. I use a recipe similar to the one I found on www.TheYummyLife.com, but you can google and find a ton of different recipes. My favorite thing about it is that with chia seeds and plain greek yogurt included, they are full of both fiber and protein! They keep me full a long…
  • Uh, yeah totally. I usually feel like I want to EAT THE WORLD, and NEED CHOCOLATE like it's the last bottle of water in a desert. Definitely frustrating, but oh well. I try not to stress about it too much. :-/
  • Invest in a really GOOD sports bra! I've heard wonderful things about Enell bras, but have yet to try one myself. seriously though... A properly fitted sports bra, that is specifically made for large breasts, will change your life!
  • Feel free to add me if you like. Imp not sure how carried my diet is, but it might at least give you a coupe new ideas sometimes!
  • If the hotel has a continental breakfast check and see what the offerings are. I've seen hard boiled eggs, plain oatmeal packets, and fresh fruit, which can be great options. Just skip the pastries, bagels, sweet cereals, scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes/waffles, etc. ;)
  • YES! Everyone seems to think it's soooo wonderful... what they don't realize is that it's all fake marketing buzz! It's not "natural" or "used for hundreds of years" and words like "raw" and "organic" don't actually indicated that it's healthy. Agave "nectar" is a highly processed, high fructose agave syrup (yes, just like…
  • Grape Nuts is a brand of breakfast cereal. Nothing to do with grapes, OR nuts.
  • They're really very different IMO. Quinoa is higher in protein than brown rice, and in addition to that, it contains a "complete" protein (all the essential amino acids) while brown rice does not. Quinoa is also very high in iron and trace minerals. I think both are great, and variety is important, so I suggest eating both!
  • If you are getting bored with the food and exercise then change it up! Try some new foods, or new ways of cooking foods you already like. You're young so I'm going to generalize and assume you probably don't cook much. Try googling some new recipes and practice! Mix up your exercise routine... Start lifting weights, do…
  • This! I've gotten a rash from EVERY commercial deodorant I've tried (sometimes I can use a new brand for a while and it'll be fine, but eventually my pits rebel), and almost every natural deodorant too. I THINK that for me, I'm probably sensitive to propylene glycol (which is in most natural brands, as well as most…

  • I third the oil cleansing method! It's a bit time consuming, but it works wonderfully!
  • I just added you, but also had a thought/suggestion I thought I'd share. A good friend of mind works a desk job too, but was recently able to switch to a standing desk, and it made a huge difference for her! I know it isn't an option for some jobs, but standing desks are getting really popular these days, and it can be…
  • I eat it quite a bit, but I've only ever seen it frozen. That said, with most fake meat products, if it MUST be cooked, it will be very specific about that on the package. If they don't say "must cook before eating" or something, you can probably just eat it cold. I think it would taste better cooked though. If you really…
  • Earth Balance (non-hydrogenated margarine), or butter!
  • Chicken or veggie fajitas with corn tortillas are usually a great choice. Either no rice and beans on the side, or ask for whole beans (instead of refried), and no cheese. Either skip the free chips and salsa, or take one small handful, and then stop. It's REALLY easy to get distracted by chatting, and eat a ton of chips…
  • Maybe try a "make your own" fajita/taco/burrito bar? Stock it with healthier options like whole wheat and corn tortillas (check ingredients! Tortillas only really need to have 3-5 ingredients. Most have a list over an inch long in tiny print. :-/ ), whole beans in stead of refried (super cheap if you cook dried beans,…
  • Check out the blog http://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/ She has TONS of great recipes. Many are gluten free, and most others can easily be altered to be gluten free.
  • I really like making my own sandwiches and/or wraps. Leftovers too, like someone else suggested. I live my myself, but I make a family size batch of something on the weekend, and take it to work or have a serving for dinner the rest of the week. Also, though it's obviously not great to eat fast food all the time, it…
  • Yeah, I agree. You are doing great! A pound a week is really all you can reasonably expect when you don't have a LOT of weight to loose (meaning 50+ lbs.). Also, you really should eat more (1200 a day really is a bare MINIMUM). When you exercise a lot, you need to eat at least SOME of your exercise calories. Your body…
  • Try sparkling mineral water! My favorite brand is Crystal Geyser, but there are a ton of different brands you can try. Just make sure they aren't sweetened. I like the ones that are flavored with fruit "essence" rather than juice or something. Mineral water has a different flavor than regular water (I like it, but some…
  • What is your gym routine like? Maybe you're trying to do to much to quickly, or doing things in the wrong order?
  • I agree with most of the suggestions lited above, but I'd also suggest that you try to take a little nap during your lunch break. Even justs 15-20 minutes can really make a differene. Just set an alarm on your phone or something, and take a nap in your car, or even just lay your head down on your desk or something.

  • Uh... I'm sorry, i don't mean to be rude, but do you have any idea what "transfat" is? You might want to take a refsher course in chemistry before continuing to spread nonsensical rumors like that. It's true that coconut oil is extremely high in saturated fat. I really don't understand how people can say it's "good"…
  • That's what I do (or maybe you saw a post of mine, lol). Whenever I'm checking in to see how my food is going for the day, I mentally add up the sugars from "whole food"/unprocessed sources, and subtract that from my sugar numbers to see where I'm at with processed sugar. So for example, I ignore sugar from a whole banana…
  • Many studies have proven that naps are extremely beneficial in TONs of different ways (if I wasn't on my iPad I'd find some links to back this up). I can't imagine naps harming your weight loss in any way, unless the naps somehow contribute to worse sleep at night, or additional eating or something.
  • Quinoa has a lot of iron too!
  • I do that too. A lot of times, it doesn't look too bad at first... Then I see that there's 4 servings in a package I'd eat in one sitting. :noway:

  • I've heard really good things about Enell too, but still haven't gotten one.
  • I eat a lot of non-fat greek yogurt and low-fat cottage cheese. Both give a big punch of protein with very little to no fat. I eat a lot of beans and legumes too. Many of those are pretty low in fat, while being fairly high in protein (as well as fiber!). I'm also thinking of trying PB2 since I love peanut butter, but the…
