  • I am a librarian - I totally love to read . . . whenever I have time, haha! Currently working through A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir. It's the second in a series. Solid writing, good pacing, kind of an ancient Rome meets Hunger Games meets world building sort of thing. It's young adult, which can be really good,…
  • Is there any way we could help Paula? I just can't stop thinking about her.
  • Oh my goodness! Poor Paula! I'm so glad she's okay. I can't imagine . . .
  • My work pants, too! Though it seems they either fit a little too snug or I'm constantly giving them a tug because they won't stay up. There is no in between.
  • Oh my, Paula! Stay safe!! Well, I think I'm finally on the mend. Had an awful day Sunday where I just felt - and ate - like crap, so that shot me up to 148.5. I'm back down to 147, but I get so mad at myself for getting good results and then totally erasing them in the span of a day. :unamused: At least it's coming back…
  • Milton excels at falling in love, but only with mares. That's the reason I pasture him with a small herd of "bachelors," as I call them - geldings who get a little goofy around mares. They're hyperactive and lose the ability to focus as soon as a girl gets thrown in with them, so they make their own little all boys group.…
  • Scale jumped down to 146 this morning! I was supposed to go to a family Christmas party this afternoon (more food . . . ugh), but my cold is still bad enough that I'd like to stay home and rest. Never thought I'd say this, but thank goodness for this cold. :p
  • Okay, time for an update, now that I've had him nearly 3 months. ;)
  • @PaulaKro - Thanks! I need to update my picture thread with some more photos. I have plenty more! I've been 147.5 since January 2nd with one day at 148. I'm not too discouraged by that, though, since I've spent most of that time with a gnarly head cold and a compressed nerve in my neck. Both of which are getting all…
  • Holding at 147.5 for now, which is fine. I'm feeling healthier and more energetic now that all the holiday food is behind me. Unfortunately, I tweaked my neck a few nights ago (just slept on it wrong), so that has me really sore. And I have blocked sinuses now. So I've been keeping any activity pretty light.
  • All this talk of Honeycrisp apples . . . oh mah goodness. I LOOOOOOVE those!! Anyways. Happy New Year! Finally got around to putting a battery in my scale yesterday. I was 149, which is actually a full 5 pounds less than I thought. I was super surprised not to be in the 150s, even! Choosing to look at from that perspective…
  • I'm feeling some pretty awesome benefits from all the lifting I've been doing! I occasionally like to ride bareback to help improve my seat and balance while riding with a saddle, but I've never really had the strength to go faster than a walk. Today, I trotted circles and patterns for 20 minutes without falling! I was…
  • Yesterday was my first leg day in 5 weeks. I can't move today, haha! Still thinking of going for a ride, though. 'Cause I'm stupid like that!!
  • Still not sure where I'm sitting, but I've been back at the gym FINALLY, now that I'm settling into a groove with the house and the horse. By settling into a groove, I think I mean, "ignoring laundry." Haha, oops. But I'm tired of feeling soft, so back to lifting with me! Allow me a second to brag, and then I'll shush.…
  • . . . you won't? Good idea. :cold_sweat: That sounds sinful! Have fun in Jamaica, Kathy! Sounds like a lovely trip to take this time of year!! Well, I had ZERO Halloween candy yesterday! And I limited my pie consumption to half a piece of the apple (though I'm with you, Shelley - that pumpkin pie was calling my name! Just…
  • Glad to hear Timmy likes his wheelchair! Wrangler is 12 now and occasionally gets weak in his back end, so I've been wondering if someday he'll need a doggy wheelchair. And Chris, that dog looks SO cuddly! I just want to bury my fingers in its fur! Our Halloween candy is almost gone, thank goodness! However (haha), I…
  • Still don't have new batteries for my scale, but I'm still being super active. Major confession: After I finished logging last night, I pulled out our leftover Halloween candy and hit it pretty hard. And yet, my stomach is still flat this morning and my jeans are loose in a few spots. Hey. I'm not asking questions. I'm…
  • I really am! Milton and I keep learning new things together, so that's a blast. And apparently I'm being pretty active without even realizing it, so that's fun. Going back this afternoon, and I can't wait. I just don't like doc appointments due to the very nature of them. They generally seemed pretty happy with how I've…
  • Thanks for the kind words, everybody! He really is a joy, even though he was being a phenomenally giant butthead today. We worked on it, though. By the time I left, he was a lot less spoiled and a lot more respectful, so hopefully when I go back tomorrow, he's fine. Got him measured for a blanket, and I think I have one…
  • The scales in my battery died. Oh well! I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, so I'm sure they'll let me know. Guess I gotta buy some more batteries during next week's shopping trip! Wow, getting 10,000 steps a day has been a piece of cake since Milton has arrived. Fitbit says I was active for 82 minutes today! That's…
  • Aw, I'm so sorry about your kitty and poor little Timmy, Shelley. Now that school has let out for the summer, high schoolers are flooding the gym. They sit in all the weight equipment, playing on their phones and blaring obscene music. Ugh. Go back to school already. I had a laugh today, though. They were gossiping…
  • Okay, I joined our group! Can't wait to start! I need the motivation to get the flex work in.
  • Chris, we only JUST started planning this out this past week, so we're in the barest of the bare bones stage right now - no realtors or loan people yet. Our financial advisor is a friend, though, and he's coming to all our meetings with us to read the fine print of all the contracts and stuff we're signing so we know what…
  • Did we decide if we're all going to try to get on the same team? I wouldn't mind joining Flower Fields with y'all. I'd probably go for a Level 3.
  • Glad you're feeling better, Shelley! Chris, I'm anticipating that, haha!! I talked with my mom about everything for hours last night, and she said pretty much the same thing. I AM excited at the prospect of being a homeowner, but NOT thrilled about the process of getting there. Paula, as much as I'd like to buy a…
  • Hmm, I miss the option of being a hobbit, but it sounds like I fit in either Sunshine or Flower Fields.
  • I'm not sure how much I'm at anymore - quit weighing because things have been a little emotional around here between trying to find another job so I can hopefully get the horse and maybe trying to buy a house in the next few months since rent is getting to be so freaking expensive. It's been stressful, so I've been…
  • Good to see you back, Kathy! Hope your mom is in tip top shape soon. Good luck with your tennis this season! Bet you'll be in the 180s in no time. Nice job, Chris! I was back up to 141.5 again this morning. I had to laugh. I didn't go overboard today, but I did "sneak" a lot of calories that didn't get logged (little bites…
  • Paula, sometimes the clothes I'm wearing affect how I think I look. Here's hoping it was just the top! Hope the donut was tasty, at least. Scale said 141 this morning! I almost fell over backward in surprise, haha! I made cookies yesterday, so I expected a higher number than that, or at least my old faithful 141.5.…
  • Yes, he's quite a looker! I think he knows it, too. Paula, people are always telling me that he and I look good together. Now I'm thinking it must be the hair color, haha! I always thought I looked disproportionate with him since I'm short and he is TALL. One of his current training issues I need to fix is he moves…
