  • That is a fantastic accomplishment! Congrats!
  • Hmm. I think this depends on your frame. Clothes-wise, a size 6 (which most women would say they would love to be in!) have hips around 37 inches, and a waist of anywhere from 27-29, I think. However, I know extremely fit friends who could never fit into a size 6, and would look ghastly if they did. How tall are you?
  • I bought the $5 Target food scale, and it works fine. Does grams and ounces up to a pound. Does get miscalibrated easily, so I am always adjusting.
  • hotmom, I'm sorry to hear about your mother. I will pray for her as well. KC, his first name is Peter. Thank you!
  • Everyone, thank you so much for your support. He is in good spirits, and he has a lot of faith. He is looking forward to celebrating his 62nd anniversary with grandma next week. Thanks again for all of the prayers!
  • My grandfather was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer; doctors give him less than 2 months. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks, Jess
  • Chicken pot pie (leftover--about 200 cals for this piece) apple banana string cheese of course, I'm still hungry...grrrrrrrr
  • Please, please, please read the links found on this post: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/23912-links-in-mfp-you-want-to-read-again-and-again You don't have to eat 1200 calories a day to lose weight! Based on your goals, you could probably eat 1600 a day or something and still lose 2 pounds a week. (I only wanted…
  • Wow. Just wow. I have a very unsupportive mother too, and this stuff STILL amazes me when it comes out of people's mouths. Ignore her and draw your support from elsewhere. Some of the clothes were bound to be out of style anyway, right?
  • I don't have an answer to your question, but I wanted to say I'm sorry to hear about your mom. The way that BMI is calculated has to be an estimate, because it only uses two factors, weight and height (obviously, not taking into account frame, etc.) I would say not to worry about it for the time being, and focus on your…
  • Wow, everyone. Thanks so much for the feedback--I'm confident there's still plenty of ways for me to exercise without they gym, and I'm really glad to hear from so many of you who have been doing it the "old-fashioned" way with great success! I'll keep you posted. :)
  • My husband is going back to school full time at the end of the month. Due to his class schedule, he also had to take a job with more flexible hours (and less pay.) So, since my gym membership was due to be renewed anyway, we decided it would be best to let is lapse. I'm scared that even after all this time, I will stop…
  • I am going to 3rd, 4th, and 5th the motion of eat them! PB&J sounds perrrrrrrrrrfect to me! :flowerforyou:
  • 8 lbs x 3500 extra calories (on top of what your maintanence calories are) = 28,000 calories, or 4000 extra calories a day! Near impossible. Water weight. Drink some H20 and jump on the scale in a week. :flowerforyou:
  • ABSOLUTELY your period can change your weight--I know some people gain up to 10 pounds during their periods. Wait a week and then try the scale again. You'll probably lose the 2 pounds and more.
  • Don't give up! There's lots of things that can make the scale go up--you might just be retaining water. Are you eating a lot of sodium? Drinking enough water?
  • The side effects sound so scary, I'd be afraid to try it. More than 15 grams, and you basically can't control your stools? Yuck. There's more than 15 grams of fat in 2 Tbsp of peanut butter. It sounds like all it does is force you to keep a low fat diet by embarrassing you if you don't. I also think it's geared towards…
  • Just FYI, Hanukkah starts on Sunday, so this year, it is not just the week of Christmas. Also, Kwanzaa is always celebrated Dec. 26th through January 1st. My husband is Jewish, so we celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas. I have always said Happy Holidays to people I don't know--but I will personalize it if I know what…
  • This: http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-calculator.asp is a great site to calculate your recipes--enter in all the ingredients, and it will devide by the number of servings. If it's too much work, just guess. Sounds yummy though--make sure you eat it! ;)
  • February 5th, and 53 pounds!
  • Nice job! The first one takes the longest; after that, it comes more often. :flowerforyou:
  • I was expecting to lose a little from my chest, but I guess when you ain't got much, a little means a cup size! But thanks to everyone who pointed out the positives--and for telling me I'm pretty. :blushing: WillPillage--Congrats on 10 years!
  • I probably A. shouldn't be sharing and B. shouldn't be sad, but I finally went bra shopping this weekend--I lost a full cup size, so now I am an A. My boobs were never big before, never anything to write home about, but now I feel downright...unfeminine. My husband says he doesn't care, but I care, you know? Boobs are the…
  • I'm five feet tall and weigh 139. With a high-waist jean, I wear a 6. When they are hip huggers, it's more like a 10. But I tell people that I wear a 6, of course. I would still like to lose around another 15 pounds, so I have no idea where that will put me. Good luck! :flowerforyou:
  • I'm sure a lot of you have read the extremely insightful post by Banks about our expectations for weight loss (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/9433-expectations). I am firmly entrenched in Phase 5. I have about 15 pounds left. And I just don't CARE anymore. I have stayed with my food plan for the most part,…
  • I will keep you and your family in my thoughts. Please let us know how it all works out!
  • I'm probably not going to log, but I am going to eat an extra serving of meat and veggies, rather than mashed potatoes (which is certainly what I did every other year...mmmm....potatoes!)
  • Last option idea: My friend is doing a short sale. Basically, you sell the house for less than you owe--my friend is going through a divorce, and this is what she is doing. I don't know the details, but it might be worth looking into. Basically, you lose money, but you won't have to foreclose and ruin your credit totally…
  • Don't forget to measure--especially where you don't have as much to lose, the measuring tape will be your best friend. :)
  • every MFPer has an answer to: 1. What are your starting, current and goal weights? 191, 139, 125 2. What's been the hardest thing since beginning your weight-loss journey? Accepting that I am losing weight, and that I look vastly different than I used to. 3. What's your favourite exercise? Hmm. Couch surfing. ;) I like the…
